I’ve been coming to his bakery for the past 11 years. I love this place. The«pan dulce» is to DIE for. I highly recommend it.

Nice looking Mexican pastries, but this review is for the donuts. They don’t seem to make them daily, so you never know if you’re getting fresh product. Get donuts/crullers/fritters elsewhere and stick to the Mexican pastries here.

True story … My daughter brought a bag of goodies from this shop and one of the pastries had a 9 mm bullet inside … How could that happen! I immediately reported them to the board of health.

Panaderia La Favorita has all their baked goodies behind the counter, no self servicing here. 2 speedy latinas filled your requests. since pastries not labeled and not priced. just had to point and pay whatever amount was asked saw some cream filled pastries i seldom see elsewhere so got those. eats: crème filled crème puff, etc @1.5 –crème sweet and real –crust flaky crumbs: –parking diffcult in this area –fast service –coffee is farmers, passed.

Some of the best pan dulce i’ve had in the East Bay. It’s almost always warm, always tasty, and very inexpensive. Yep! they get me going there almost every weekend. How can you go wrong with a dozen mini-conchas(shells) priced at less than $ 5.

This bakery lives up to its name: La Favorita — The Favorite! The pastries are my family’s favorite. If you want to have the best pan dulce, this is the place to get it. The cakes and pies are excellent and fully satisfying to the palate. My family highly recommends this bakery. I live far away, but whenever I’m in the area, I make sure to buy the fantastic treats.

so I gotta say… this place is AWESOME!!! with 5 very enthusiastic stars UP! So it was my mom’s birthday, I was late AND in charge of bringing a cake(which my whole family always unanimously decides would be best as a ***TRESLECHES***). I need some place CLOSE, FAST, within a fair PRICERANGE… and most of all, offers GOOD/GREAT CAKES… and chu$CHING!!! I find this place on Unilocal and it offers all FOUR!!! I walked in and ten minutes later had a quarter sheet of a wonderfully moist and completely addictive tres leches cake with peaches and strawberries and a HAPPYBIRTHDAY message for mamalita… I would DEFINITELY recommend coming here! Support your local panaderias! Eat/shop local!!!

I try to stay away but i can’t !! I’m happy I live on the other side of town now or I’d be here every morning. This is the best panaderia ever! The ladies in the front are so sweet and don’t laugh while I practice my Spanish as I order. The pan is to die for I can’t walk away with just two usually three or four. And all for $ 2. Starbucks? Please! I have to go more often. Maybe if I walk there it will make up for the calories?

This panadería has been around since I was a twinkle in my father’s eye… Ok maybe that’s an exaggeration but it’s been around a long time. The panadería lacks a lot of things… customer service… parking…patience…information…a fresh paint job… Do you get the picture? Good. Well let me tell you I still come here because they have Pan Dulce(Mexican sweet bread) on lock. Personal favorite: Ojo de Guey. Bread rolls sliced in two, covered in strawberry jelly, dipped in coconut shavings. Based on 05/16/2010 visit.

Everything in there was on steroids! A look into each of the glass cases yielded«Wow“s and«Oh my goodness, look at that“s. Considering that we were in there at 8pm or so on a Thursday, there sure was a LOT left. I wonder if they re-use the next day… It doesn’t matter if they do or not, because it was G-O-O-D! I had what I can only liken to a French palmier — the heart shaped flake pastry with a bit of glaze that ‘s crunchier on the permieter than in the center. My friend had the bread pudding and could not stop gushing about it. It had raisins, a little banana, vanilla, and gooey, dense goodness. This was a stark contrast and delightful end to the not so delicious meal at Jorge’s we’d just endured.

My girl is forever and a damn day ranting and raving about how when she use to celebrate birthdays in Mexico the cake was amazing because it was soaked in alcohol. So me being a sweetheart and a lush, when on a super cakehunt for this authentic Mexican Birthday Cake. I called the 5 star bakeries, the specialty one, the cheap one, the Latin one, and finally I found it at La Favorita. I ordered a Tres Leches soaked with alcohol cake with vanilla breading, it was filled with fresh strawberries, and cream. I told them I would need it by the next day and big enough to serve 50 people. I told them exactly what it needed to say and what decorations and what time. They told me $ 60 bucks, and the deal was sealed. The next day my bud went and picked it up before my girlfriends surprise party. She said everything went smoothly and that the cake looked and smelled hella good. Well when we brought it out to her, my girl fell in love. She absolutely loved the cake!!! So did all the other people their including me. It was moist but not mushy, very fresh especially the strawberries, perfect amount of rum, excellent texture, and not offensive sweet, more like perfect sweet!!! I loved how on point the service was, and how there was no bullshit!!!

While not a Mexican, I’ve tried enough panaderias in the Bay area to say that Panaderia La Favorita is one of the best around. I got a sesame bun with ricotta-like cheese filling, a flaky pastry with cakery texture, and then a similar pastry that is sweet and dusted with sugar. All were delicious but each had a different texture, a just right balance of saltiness and sweetness that wouldn’t leave you with a sugar rush after eating them. Not sure if they use lard but I didn’t smell it when I had my goodies. They have such a wide variety of pastries and I’d love to go back and try them!

Have you ever stood in line at Starbucks staring in that bakery window, and them damn sweets scream at you telling you to: BUYME! BUYME! then EATME so you can back! Well that is how they do me and then I walk up out of there spending dang near 6 or 7 bucks! Then at around 10am I am feeling used and abused and taking advantage of because I spent that much $ on coffee and sweets, and still need to get lunch! So heres what I do I take my sweet tooth down to Panaderia La Favorita because there pastrys are the bomb! And they can help a sista’s debt to income ratio because they are mosly .50c each and you can probably get 3 – 4 pastrys for the price of 1 starbucks!

Went there with my friend yesterday. pretty damn good a pretty price. I had half of a cookie which was decent. For breakfast this morning I had a pastry with custard in it. I put some cut up strawberrys in it and I was good to go. It was really good. I like how the lady working was singing elvis songs in spanish. My friend that lives around the corner was loving her cake I think it was tres leche. Def worth going back too. If I lived in the neighborhood Id stop in once in a while.

I went there for the Cinco De Mayo potluck at work and got a variety of pastries. Most were quite yummy, actually. The ladies behind the counter were very friendly and helpful, considering my very limited Spanish and their very limited English, and gave my curious and inexperience self samples of everything I asked about. The prices were really cheap and I got out spending less than 20 bucks and had enough for 20 people. Wasn’t blown away and wasn’t disappointed either.

Okay, hands-down, this is the best Mexican panadera in the inner Bay Area. There is no old-grease aftertaste, unfortunately common to so many of these small operations(in an effort to produce their product cheaply). The bread tastes fresh, the crust of the empanadas is tasty and even a bit moist. Speaking of empanadas, the pia variety are excellent. Try the canastas, or baskets, filled with fruit, custard, and other fillings. The only difference between this and other panaderas is that you have to ask the person behind the counter for your selection. It’s not self-help, and I don’t care. It’s that good! La Favorita is now on my top three Mexican panaderas in the U.S. The other three being Ayutla in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago, La Costa Chica in Healdsburg of all places, and the third whose name I can’t recall(in Oxnard) since I was so busy devouring the bread.
