I’ll be honest; I was expecting overpriced mediocre food & service. But we were delighted to find reasonably priced ready-to-go sandwiches and meals. And the service was wonderful! Retrospectively, we should have picked up more food. But c’est la vie. Their website is a little hard to navigate, but give them a call with any questions you have. They were super helpful & friendly. Read our full review on our kosher blog:

This place is amazing! I ordered shwarma, it came to me very quickly and tasted absolutely delicious. The workers there were very kind, and helped me with whatever I needed. I will definitely come back here again

I love this deli/grocery store so much! The deli meat here is superb… very tasty but not cheap, Along with their dry and frozen goods… pickles, hummus, various desserts and sauces. OMG delicious! I just wish they consistently served SHAWARMAS. Please serve them all day, especially on Sundays! They are out of this world amazing. So this last Sunday, they didn’t have shawarmas and ended up giving us kababs in a warm pita with sides. We were not disappointed… everything they do is delicious. The place has character and the people that work there. It doesn’t have any fancy décor, but who cares… you’re here for the food.

Great customer service, fresh meat, moderately expensive, but reasonable for kosher deli.

This place is the only show in town when it comes to kosher food, not just for the Eastbay but the entire Bay Area. The prices reflect their complete monopoly. Costs are outrageously high for deli platters and simple foods like egg salad. That said, the food is quite tasty and on par with a mid range deli in NYC.

Yo, son. The OG Jewish deli in the Town. My man behind the counter helped hook up a shiva platter. Also, best Hebrew spoken by a brown man in the East Bay.(I witnessed some staff chop chop with the elder folks.) All in all, good stuff, my dudes. Get your kosher here, ya punks.

Coming from the East Coast, I’m used to finding Kosher stores relatively easily. This one is the only one I could find in the area. It’s a bit on the small side, but they have a good selection of various items, especially for Passover. They even carry kosher wine, though I thought their wine selection was rather pricey.

#26 Oakland Kosher Foods… what a great community market! I was introduced to this deli/market a few years ago by a friend at Beth Abraham. We both live in the area, so she suggested that we drop in for some items for a luncheon we were hosting. Okay, I am always up for something new and local. I generally walk over, so I cannot speak for the parking situation, I can just report that there is street parking only. The inside is not fancy, nothing special, no trendy modifications… just food and beverages. Great! That’s really all I want. There are a few refrigerated coolers up front replete with fresh pita among other items. I always load up on pita, I can always freeze it at home ;) There is a decent wine selection as you enter the market as well. There are kosher selections as well as other wines to choose from, each one appealing to the ‘wine community’. A little area with tables aligns the front left corner of the store, across from the wine section, where one can sit, relax and enjoy their deli selections. A long refrigerated section opposite the deli lines the length of the store with so many options available. I can always find several specialty items, knowing I can do some damage in my kitchen later! A wonderfully stocked deli counter lines the back left portion of the food market. The butcher is one of the nicest people I have ever met. Each time I shop here he remembers me, my order and asks about life in general. I love excellent and hospitable customer service. It is always the key piece in my return visits to any establishment. Stephani Smiles for Oakland Kosher Foods ;)

Nice clean kosher deli, friendly staff. It’s good to sit there and eat or take it to go. The pastrami sandwich is a must!

Chicken Schnitzel platter was good, but pastrami sammie was not. I guess that evens out to a 3 star. The fries that were served were not hot, but room temp.

Very good corned beef, but rye bread was almost mushy. Service was good at 11:30 am and there is a large selection of salads and other goodies. The place is mostly a butcher shop with packaged foods everywhere. Just four tables, in the midst of shelves. You order at counter and bring your food to your table, but a staffer brought us a pitcher of water without asking.

This is pretty much the only kosher option in the east bay. It is great in that they import many products from israel and have a variety of kosher meats, cheeses, wines, and other foods that would otherwise be unavailable to someone who kept kosher in the east bay. Yes, the place feels a bit unorganized and messy… but the meat is clean, and I have gotten only good cuts. It is a bit pricey, but this is to be expected in such a place. Its great as a kosher market, but in terms of the deli, the ambiance is not great so I would say take your food to go.

Small Kosher grocery with butcher counter & deli. Their signage is not good showing only price per lb for deli meats(I looked so maybe I missed the sandwich board?) so I just asked if I could get a hot pastrami sandwich on rye. Was answered in the affirmative($ 9.99 for the pastrami sando) and was asked if I wanted cole slaw or potato salad. The sandwich comes with a *large* double scoop of potato salad along with 2 pickle spears and a few olives( ). Definitely not over-stuffed. There’s a decent amount of meat in the middle which went to almost nothing at the edges( ). I have to say that the pastrami is delicious. It has a distinct smokiness that I seldom find. The potato salad is a mix of yellow and red skinned potatoes in large(~2″) chunks. It was pretty bland and somewhat dry. I didn’t finish more than a few bites. Did you know they make Kosher sriracha? Pastrami Sandwich: 4+ stars Potato Salad: 2 stars
