You must try the green curry! Jicama salad is also amazing must try this place on Piedmont ave.

This is a wonderful little Thai restaurant that puts a bit more thought and love into their dishes than the average place, all at a decent price. Had a wonderful lunch here. Everything was full of flavor while keeping the individual notes of each dish distinct. Fish was excellent and the chicken in the curry had captured the curry’s flavor without being over cooked. The waiter was also nice enough to taste test some of their new desserts, which were also excellent.

What a well kept secret! Omg the garlic noodles and shrimp was so fresh and delicious! The presentation was so beautiful, I almost didn’t want to eat it … Not only that but the service was amazing! Can’t forget the scrumptious mango sticky rice! Nice quiet atmosphere. Would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone!

We’ve been here twice and it’s a hit or miss. The first time we came, we ordered the Green Papaya Salad, Pad Si Ew and Thai Basil Stir Fry. Everything tasted great! The salad wasn’t overdressed or too acidic. It had a nice balance of sweet, sour, and spice. The Pad Si Ew was also flavored well and the noodles weren’t too chewy. The Thai Basil Stir Fry was also delicious with a light soy dressing and hint of basil. This visit, the salad was more acidic and not as spicy. There was a nice amount of dressing where the green papaya wasn’t dry. We decided to try to the Pad Thai instead of Pad Si Ew and although it had a nice flavor to it, the noodles were really chewy and overdressed. The prawns had a nice char and it was cooked perfectly. I appreciated the presentation of this dish. The consistent dish of the night would have to be the Thai Basil Stir Fry. The chicken was tender, the sauce was nice and light and there was a good variety of vegetables. Even though we weren’t pleased with two of the three dishes, we will be back to give it another shot. The service is excellent and they have a decent selection of wine and beer. Ninna’s is smaller than the other Piedmont Ave Thai offerings, but their cozy atmosphere puts them on top. It’s a quiet, intimate spot for a date night.

I’d come back and recommend this restaurant to a friend. We came in at 615ish on a Saturday. The waitress told us they just got a little rush(max capacity is 26), that she could seat is right away but that it’s take a while to eat. We weren’t in a rush so we went for it. Everything was delicious, the wine was inexpensive, the food came faster than she said, the service was top notch and the ambiance was lovely!

This is a cozy little spot on Piedmont Avenue for which the first indication that your experience will be good are the aromas that hit you upon opening the door. Not quite spare, the interior is a tightly packed space that seats 26. Exposed brick countered with wood around makes for a warm aural environment: vibrant but not too loud. The aromas mentioned above come from the partial walk-in closet of a kitchen. Walking by from the water closet I spied large quantities of brilliantly colored fresh vegetables awaiting their turn in some cooking vessel. It seems obvious from the smells and is verified by the tastes that these people care and have a drfinutive sense of place i their food memory banks. Homeland Thailand is transported through their work. Tom Kha soup is a bright eye opener. The comvination of thinned coconut milk, onions sweetned from cooking, tender mushrooms of two or three types, and small pearl tomatoes made a great start. Highly recommended. Panang Beef is a pungent red curry. Maybe a tad salty, but lots of oomph, made better in each bite with some basil. Oh, and a good portion of beef. Not quite fork tender, it was not overly chewy. Just right. The Pad See Eew was spicyyyyy! Full of garlic flavor, we found it interestimg that whatever saltiness there is is carried by the noodles. Really separate flavors. Good service. A nice little, reasonably priced alcohol list. We’ll be back!

Why in tarnation do people rave about this place? My green curry was too sweet and the carrots and broccoli were so overcooked they disintegrated when I tried to pick them up with my fork. The soups are TINY. My friend hated her pad thai and didn’t eat more than one bite. My boyfriend’s red curry was watery and flavorless. Whitewashed Thai. I spent time in Thailand and I lived near Thai Town in Hollywood and I sure do wish I could find a place near me as good as those places. I hate giving one star but man, WTF?

Coming back from a long day in Napa, our original restaurant choice had a LOOONG wait, so we stopped by Ninna. Great interpretation of traditional Thai food. I wish they had more soup options since it was so cold. Had their green chicken curry. Didn’t look like much, but I was SOO stuffed at the end. Also had endless refills of their Thai tea, no condensed milk, but just as fragrant. There’s a parking lot across the way and behind the building. Takes card. Friendly. Small space, so when they get busy, there might be a wait.

I don’t think Ninna is a must-have, but I do think it’s a restaurant that’s absolutely worth trying. While the space is small, the décor and overall atmosphere are reminiscent of a more upscale restaurant. Peeking in through the window, you’d think that this place would qualify as $$$. The food, overall, was… okay. There was nothing that I didn’t necessarily enjoy, but there wasn’t anything that left me completely satisfied either. My family and I ordered a number of dishes to share throughout the night including the corn fritters, classic Pad Thai, Pad Si Ew, garlic noodles, strip steak, grilled salmon, yellow curry, and green curry. The two things I’d reorder if I came to Ninna again are the garlic noodles and yellow curry. I maybe had a bite of everything else, and wasn’t impressed enough to have another. The garlic noodles are a good texture and have a nice flavor to them. Definitely not an overpowering garlic taste. The yellow curry was really impressive. I’m usually not a Thai curry kinda girl, and I think this place may have changed my mind. Shout out to the extremely nice servers too! Y’all are the real MVPs. My biggest piece of advice would be to keep your party to a few people here. Like I said before, the space is really small. We had a party of 8, and were lucky enough to call beforehand to make reservations. We definitely felt rushed though, with the crowd of people waiting to be seated because we took up two-thirds of the restaurant. No reason to hate on Ninna, as it was a perfectly fine experience. But no reason to love on it either.

Yum. Four of us went here for a casual dinner a few nights ago and were very pleased. I liked the menu a lot… enough selection to get a good variety, but not huge and overwhelming as some can be. We ate a jicama salad, edamame, pad se ew, curry, and basil chicken stir fry. Everything was very tasty. Drank some wine as well… the wine list isn’t astonishing but you can get something good. One thing to note is that all the dishes came out without any spice… you can request spice sauces on the side or amp up the dishes when you order, but there is no problem in coming here with spice wimps either. Service was great… attentive, nice, on top of it. When we came in(without reservations) they were full but they took our phone number. We walked to grab a cocktail somewhere else and sure enough they called about mid-way through the cocktail to let us know a table was ready. So hey, this is everything I want in a casual Thai place. Great food and service, reasonable prices, and an overall satisfying and enjoyable experience.

Ate here for the first time and we loved it! As soon as we walked in it smelled amazing. They helped us right away, our waitress had a smile on her face the whole time, she was very helpful. The menu is one of the smaller menus I’ve seen for a Thai restaurant, I really liked that, it made ordering very simple. The green curry was very fragrant, fresh and really delicious. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, still had some crunch in them which I prefer. The jicama salad was so refreshing and flavorful too. My husband ordered the Pad kee mao noodles and was not disappointed, super tasty and fresh. The flavor in all our dishes was just amazing, can’t wait to eat here again!

Went there tonight to try them out, I saw that they have 4 out of 5 stars. It’s my wife’s bday, so we wanted to try something new. We walk in, party of 6, and ask to be seated. The lady says sorry, we can take you’re party. I’m sorry, what? There is a party of 5 right there, 6 is too many? I guess we’ll never know how good it is, we never even got a chance. Sucks…

Currently our favorite Thai restaurant! We passed it many times saying to ourselves, We need to check out that place. Finally we did so, and it’s wonderful. The space is pleasantly decorated and quiet. The food is excellent both in quality and in harmony of delicate tastes, that delicacy being what I most admire in Thai cooking. They don’t seem to have anything on the menu with that super-hot spiciness you sometimes find in Thai food; but they are fantastic with what they do. I recommend the salmon, and since we first tried it it’s my girlfriend’s new favorite pad Thai. But everything I’ve eaten there has been delicious. And prices seem reasonable for the quality you get. All of this would merit probably four stars. I give them the fifth for the great service; you feel like they’re glad to see you and want you to have a pleasant time. They seem like really nice people, and that completes the feel of the place. We love it!

This adorable, honest, and very CUSTOMERSERVICEFIRSTPRIOTITY, family run business is SPECTACULAR! Let’s be honest… most places just huff and puff on the side, or give a bit of a fake smile, as they grind their teeth’s in the back, when dealing with people like me… you know the person with all these concerns, asks questions, and stating my health needs, and and and … yea, i’m one annoying diner! The pops of this GREATFAMILYRUNBUSINESS, on beautiful Piedmont Avenue, was writing down the list of what not to include or include or substitute or put on the side or just stir fry or or or or… and as I look at his face, with his handy dandy pen and usual order pad, I see PUREEARS neeeeeeding to get everything perfectly jotted down, so that the cook, his gracious wife, makes sure our needs are met. He smiles and says…‘okay!‘ ONTOPOFOURNITPICKYCONCERNS… it’s closing time. ALSO, as we eat, there’s this lady who usually roams around Piedmont Avenue. We see her at Piedmont Café too… she dines alone, looks scrappy, talks to herself, and always talks to others as if she owns the place. I assume the owners of businesses are kind enough for her to enter, without judgement, because truly she’s a kind woman, who mentally may be pegged ‘looney’… I’d like to call her an angel pretending to be looney… i just heard a bell ring… an angel just a got a pair of new wings!

Classy Thai restaurant with good ambience and service. The yellow and red curry dishes were fine and we both liked them. My favorite was the plain Thai ice tea with no cream or sugar.

I ordered take out for dinner, and really enjoyed the flavors of the dishes but the papaya salad lacked some heat and salt. We ordered the Thai corn fritters, papaya salad, house yellow curry and flank steak dinner entrée. The curry had a nice flavor, large chunks of chicken almost the size of all full thigh, and the large cuts of potato carrot were a good size. The yellow curry had depth, but the heat level was a bit low. Next time I will order spicy, and look for the green curry instead. The papaya salad was tasty but it lacked salt to make all the individual flavors and spice really pop, when I added salt the salad was way better. The flank steak was under seasoned but the dish overall at pretty good flavor. Looking forward to coming back in trying the food in house, will be back with an updated review. With more salt I think its 4⁄5 quality food.

Stopped in here on a Monday night when my brother was visiting from out of town since it was one of the few places actually open. So glad we stumbled upon this great little place. The food is outstanding and some of the best thai I’ve ever had including the jicama salad, fried tofu appetizer and pad see ew(I can’t stop craving it)! Brother said the chicken satay was perfectly grilled and seasoned. A great place for vegetarians especially. Can’t wait to come back.

Asian fusion type of food is something you must try at Ninna. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. From the maple leave duck breast to the yellow chicken curry to the mussel appetizer was delectable. Service was extremely attentive and welcoming. The waitress was also cute too so that was a bonus. Love. Love. Love. I hope you give this place a try. Cheers!

I’ve been in the area for four years — how have I missed this place? The good news is that the food is very tasty. Be prepared that they have a limited menu. So this can’t be your go to place for all things Thai(though they have many of the staples). But what they do make is very fresh and you walk away feeling like you had a very healthy, tasty meal.
