Naming Gallery

My brother and I wandered by during a Saturday art walk yesterday after the Betti Ono Gallery recommended that we check out the galleries on 15^th between Webster and Harrison, but it didn’t look open. We peeked in the storefront to the right of it and happened to catch the attention of the lady who could open it up. (She had closed it because she’d been commissioned to make up a client info a wolf for Halloween.) I’m so glad she was willing, without being prompted, to open the door: the current exhibit was fascinating.
It centered on the fallacy of relying on magical golems (equivalent to drones in this day and age) for protection. There were wood blocks with carvings intended to be used as a pictorial instruction manual for your very own golem, and each golem, ready to be shipped to a happy customer, was slightly different in their little wooden crates.
This exhibit is only on display until November 2, so go catch it if you can! If not, I’m sure the next one will be thought provoking and visually intriguing, as well.
