I love this place, I’ve been here multiple times and the food is great but the last two times I’ve had a very rude waitress. I was there this past sunday, she gave us our chips, salsa and beans as they normally do while we review our menu. Once we ordered we sat there and finished our drinks and put them at the edge of the table in hopes the waitress will stop by for refills. Our food came out and she just left our cups at the edge of the table, didn’t ask us if we wanted refills or anything. When she left our food she didn’t even ask if we needed anything before she left, I had to flag her down twice, once for napkins, second time for lemons. Halfway through our meal we still didn’t have refills and again I had to flag her down. Don’t know if she was bothered but she brought my horchata out room temperature, no ice. I was going to ask her for ice but I got the feeling that she was annoyed. Once we finished our meal we sat there for 20 min waiting for her to swing by so we can ask for the bill but she never came out.(It wasn’t busy either, there was only 3 other tables with customers, she was taking care of us and another table, the other chick had the other 2 tables) we got up and walked up to the counter to ask for the bill, once she saw we were Hella cool with cook and started talking to him, her attitude completely changed. It’s like, where was this attitude for the past hour? Once I paid I had a feeling she was expecting a tip since she immediately looked at the receipt after i signed it and starred at me right after with this look of hate., it’s like u just gave horrible service and u want a tip? Yeah right. try again next time lady. Waitresses like her are going to ruin this place.

This place has made me change my view on Mexican Seafood. It’s simply too GOOD. I always come for their Ceviche and I love it. I can’t have mariscos nowhere else but here. The waiters are friendly and so are the kitchen staff. PLUS, you cannot miss out on their Sunday Karaōke. Fun and yummy place.

Northern Mexico sea food style at its very best! Delicious, fresh and affordable. A must in East bay. Also they also have their own parking lot!

This place is an East Oakland treasure. In fact this neighborhood holds all of my favorite Mexican food.(And this is coming from a former mission-girl.) But the thing that sets this place apart is their incredible seafood. We had a dozen oysters, the ceviche de camarones, and a burrito of the same. Burrito was HUGE, oysters fresh and perfectly shucked, and the ceviche was CHOCKFULL of shrimp. The staff is fast, polite, and helpful(the entire menu is in Spanish, so if you aren’t fluent in at least some Spanglish, you’ll will most certainly need their assistance). I would eat here everyday if I could. OMNOMNOM

It’s a great truck style food service. The good is inexpensive and really good. Cash only, sometimes the wait can be long but it’s worth it. Ceviche tostadas are $ 5, cant beat that. Quesadillas is really good too.

It get’s better… they have now started making a very special stingray fish soup on Fridays… and it is killer. Thick/rich from tomato/adobo sauce from canned chipoltles with lots of veggies and some spiciness. Make sure you ask for it; not cheap but worth every penny. The owner Jesus also told me the next day he was making a fresh pot of carnitas and birria de chivos y res. I took out about a pound of the carnitas to make quesadillas at home… it was fantastic. So tender and delicious, if not a bit salty which of course loves carnitas! Did not try his birria altho he admits Taqueria Campos a block down is pretty amazing birria… so I can’t wait to try his… he said he was also going to prepare carnitas/birria on saturdays… one can only hope so.

Seafood is spot on. Less crowded than la costa, in door seating, live music($ 10 a song), accepts credit cards. Tostada especial is a big portion of octopus, fish, scallops and shrimp. The accompanying salsa is tasty but be warned it’s spicy. As others pointed out, the menu is entirely in espanol, but the waitress we had was bi-lingual. Will be back to try pata de Muta. They were out both times I went. Looking forward to their whole fried fish. Looked delicious!

So… my friend and I saw some really awesome looking pics of the food from this place and decided to try it out because it really did look tasty. However, when we got there, there was a table singing karaōke, and boy was it bad. I don’t know if I am just sensitive to loud noises, but that sh*t was loud!!! I couldn’t hear the people I was with, hell I couldn’t even hear myself think. I was trying to ignore the karaōke by focusing on the yummy food that would soon be in front of me. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. The tacos my friend ordered were super greasy, and my fish tacos did not have a fresh flavor. I did give them two stars because the server was very friendly.

Pros: Best fish tacos ever! Mechiladas are really good. Service staff are professional and friendly. The restaurant is clean — even the bathrooms. Cons: The menu is in Spanish entirely. Very loud karaōke while you are trying to enjoy your meal.

I can’t believe I have been passing by this place for over 10 years now and didn’t stop by until today. Recently a buddy of mine posted an Instagram picture with ceviche and michelada, my two favorite things. Today I tried the agua chile with the green sauce, cerviche especial, 3 michelada’s and their steak tacos. Everything was delicious. The restaurant was clean, the waiter was nice and to top it off the restroom was clean. I will definitely come back.

This is probably one of the best mariscos shops I’ve been to this side of the border. The food here is a straight vacay trip to Mazatlán. Seafood is extremely fresh, vegetable garnishes like onion and cucumbers are skillfully sliced or diced, citrus marinades are masterfully crafted by infusing either fresh(green) or dried/powdered(red) chiles. The effects are distinctively different but both are so worthy. Campechana Especial $ 16 for small(2 peeps) $ 25 for large. Tried the small and it was a nice plate of layered deliciousness. First, round slices of cucs hit the plate. Then a random assortment of raw oyster, cooked AND raw shrimp, tender slices of raw fish, slices of octopus tentacles and even a rare appearance of Pata de Mula, which is a cockle with a blackish meat but incredibly delectable. Then everything is generously topped with super thin onion slices and the most legit lime marinade infused with ground, dried chiles and lots of salt. Eat this with crackers or tostada chips and beer and the world will slow down to a crawl. The seafood pops while the acid of citrus dances on the palate, and a very delayed slow burn of dried chiles counter the chilled meats. I eat coktels and ceviche all the time but this was special. TRUST. Also tried the Chicharon de Pescado $ 10 to diversify the textural experience. Tiny crispy fish nuggets were equally pleasurable with the Campechana and cervezas(beer). Outside of the salty, super crunchy crust lied a kinda unique fish meat. It was flaky and gelatinous at the same time. I’ll ask next time what type of fish or what part. So don’t mind the bars on the windows in the neighborhood, don’t mind the super loud Mexican karoakeing by the staff, don’t even care about the minimal/nonexistent use of English. Just share the indulgence which is spectacular food, from a unique area that is wonderfully captured here in small corner of East Oakland. Su bienvenida!

Went for here for the first time. The place is clean and the staff are very friendly. It took a little while for us to get our food, I would have given this place 5 stars if the service would have been faster. I went in here expecting mediocre Mexican Seafood, and upon waiting so long for my food, I was worried the food was going to be bad. To my surprise, the food was absolutely worth the wait, it was DELICIOUS! I had a few things to get a good idea of what they were all about. I had a Shrimp Taco, Fish Taco, Carne Asada Taco, and a Tostada de Ceviche de Camaron. It was ALL good! The fish and shrimp were deliciously hand breaded and then fried. The ceviche de Camaron was FRESH! Unlike a lot of places in the area that use old shrimp to make their Ceviche. I’m a huge snob when it comes to Mexican Seafood and I’m pretty hard to please. I have tried most, if not all of the Restaurants offering seafood in Oakland, and this one, by far, had the best Mexican Seafood. I will definitely be back to try more of their menu. If you go here, expect a little wait to get your food, but believe me, it is worth the wait, so sit tight, play some Mexican music on their Internet Juke box, have a beer and then enjoy some delicious food!

NOTE: if you are searching Unilocal, there are two Mariscos restaurants with very similar names. This one is Mariscos Estilo Sinaloa, a sibling of Tortilleria Y Taqueria. The other is Mariscos Sinaloa, unassociated with either and vastly inferior to MES. Despite the old bldg/iron fence around the lot, this restaurant is recently remodeled and absolutely spotless clean! A nice surprise. Note that the menu is ENTIRELY in Spanish. The waitress spoke English, the cook did not. MES has genuinely spicy food. They assume you can take the heat. Do not come here if you can’t deal with chiles on at least a 5 on a scale of 10! The salsa with the chips was easily 7⁄10 – we loved it, but we are chileheads. Love that burn all the way down the esophagus, lol. There is no use of sugar to disguise the heat – this is The Real Thing. Shrimp ceviche was a great value for the price. Very fresh, barely cooked with lots of lime. Huge portion. The caldo 7 mares soup is based on a good fish stock, not just boiled shrimp shells. It isn’t the best, but again, a good bargain for the price(this is an expensive soup anywhere in the Bay Area). Excellent mix of seafood, although they do use surimi as a crab sub. All the seafood was cooked gently; nothing overcooked, not even the scallops. The burrito carne asada packs the cheese, rice, beans, lettuce, crema, and the well-chopped carne asada, inside a large flour tortilla. I’m not fond of wet burritos, so although I had to use a knife and fork on this monster, I was happy with it. The beef was chewy, but the hand chopping took care of that. I liked that the cheese was properly melted — I hate that shredded stuff that so many taqueries use. Also inside the burrito is a generous drizzle of a smoky, salty hot sauce that is bottled solely for them, called Salsa Sinaloense. It tastes like a cross between adobo chiles and soya, and goes very well with meat. There’s a bottle on every table, and they also sell it from the restaurant. The horchatas had a nice balance; not as creamy-rich as some, but a little less sweet and not so aggressive with the Vietnamese cinnamon. It’s refreshing, and very good with their food. The food at Mariscos Estilo Sinaloa is definitely spicy. Everything we got was spicy, and it’s the kind of heat that builds as you swallow it. We didn’t ask for anything to be spicy; it’s quite possible they kept the heat down for us two out-of-place Asians. That would make this restaurant a genuine 5 to 9 out of 10 on the chile scale! As spouse said, nothing seemed super-hot at first, but the heat just keeps rising. We enjoyed our meal but here, everyday mild seems to be at least a 4/10, and the heat goes up super-fast from there. You are forewarned, LOL. In summary, this was a nice surprise. The food was good to very good, and for a bargain price.

Fish Tacos and Shrimp Tacos are 5 Stars all the way! Served well fried with cabbage, mayo and green sauce I’m here once a week, haven’t tried the more pricey seafood stuff but looks killing.
