This place is not for the faint of heart. Having had a little run-in with gravity, I needed to go to urgent care, and the two other places my insurance wanted to send me each had loads of Unilocal reviews with the overall rating of one star. This one had no reviews, but it is a terrible neighborhood. Being a betting gal, I cleared everything out of my car, dressed as modestly as a pilgrim and wore good running shoes. I spoke with the clinic before I came and they were kind enough to see me, even though they are no longer an urgent care site. When I first called they took a message and the sole health care provider called me back between appointments to determine if I actually needed to go to the emergency room. She told me she would be back at 2, so I got there a little before. Everyone was friendly while I filled out a sheaf of paperwork. From over-hearing a conversation, it sounded as though she was in a meeting that would last about an hour although the people who called it claimed it would only take 15 minutes. I have worked for people like that, so I tried to be patient and just happy that they were fitting me in. Behind the counter dude was a little laissez-faire, but about an hour in, he totally went off the tracks because his radio was missing. In the windmills of his mind, he kinda forgot I was waiting to see the nurse practitioner. After another hour and a half, I asked what was going on in the medical office. because she was clearly was out of her meeting. He refocused on me and said,“oh! you are done with the paperwork!” and took me back to the waiting room. During the time I had been waiting, I got a chance to see the other services provided by Healthy Communities, e.g.; addiction treatment support, homelessness resources, mental health referral and pro bono legal support for claimants, appealing claims denied by social security. I was comfortable with the clientele, but I am guessing I have a much higher tolerance for people who have big needs and not a lot of resources, than the average bear. Once in the medical waiting room, the Medical Assistant was friendly, efficient and extremely polite. When I got to the Nurse Practitioner, Anastasia Barnes-Perrilliat, it was a relief. She took my observations seriously, did not laugh her head off when I told her what I had been doing to treat the inflammation and infection I had. She suggested a few tweaks, wrote me a prescription. She also asked about preventative health care and with every admission of delayed maintenance, gave me another referral. She did other doctor-y things and when she got to my lungs, stopped and said I had a lung infection. I felt like a catch and release salmon. Thank you, Affordable Care Act, I have not had insurance for so long. Thank you, Healthy Communities. I think this has got to be the longest review I have ever written. If you are still here, I am giving you a gold star, right now.
