Not a bad choice for airport grub! Great bratwurst, quite an assortment of condiment and topping choices, really good crispy chicken tenders if you’re feeling like finger-food, and tasty fries. Not healthy by any means, but certainly tasty!

Due to scheduling I had soooo much time to kill in this airport that I explored both terminals and between my quick ocular pat down and a little Unilocal research, I settled on Gordon Biersch as my best bet to kill said time. It was much smaller than I expected and had a limited menu(you literally only have the brat, the garlic fries or the tenders). For drinks, you have a decent amount of beer options(i.e., 6 of their own on draft and a decent out-of-house bottle selection) but only a few wine options and no liquor. Given all that«limitedness» I still am under the impression I chose wisely for my lunch and drinks. Here’s why: For one the brat really hit the spot. The beers were fresh. TV playing sports was on. Friendly service and customers around(although I admit that last part is surely variable). Possibly the best part was readily accessible outlets because nothing kills your phone more than hours to kill somewhere. For an airport terminal restaurant, I couldn’t expect much better.

It’s small and it’s simple. 20ish stools and a good beer selection. No fancy cocktails, no wine list, no food, and not a lot of wait. The bartenders are generally friendly and deal out a hefty amount of humor, sarcasm and general smart-assedness to make coming to this end of the terminal worth it.

As an anxious flyer, I am a big fan of a preflight beverage. This place is tiny but the staff work their butts off. It has a counter that separates the tiny seating area from the rest of the terminal, which is great for me as I usually travel with my dog and don’t want to bring him into the middle of a crowded bar. I can easily hover on the outskirts with him, my beverage and my bag. Overall, fast and convenient!

What a great spot. Like the intimacy of the bar. About tens seats. The beer and food are of high quality. The service especially from Billy is top notch.

Billie the bartender kept the entire airport well hydrated and fed when all other restaurants were closed! Our flight was delayed from 9pm until 12:15 and we would have all starved if he hadn’t accommodated every person that came up after closing time! Thanks Billie!

Waiting for a friend to come in, I walked into a party. The bar keep was great. He created a fun and festive atmosphere. Fair prices and great service. My favorite spot in OAK airport. Good food, good beers, great times.

Will is the shit! Best bar tender around. Very friendly and makes airport waits not only bearable, but makes me want to buy a plane ticket just to hang out. He’s not only tolerant of the drunkies, but can hold a solid down to earth convo, unlike all other uppity venues at in the entire airport. Not to mention he has the ONLY bar willing to stay open past 9pm, which is crucial when Southwest is ALWAYS at least 3 hours late. Go there now.

We were delayed with our flight to Vegas and Will kept us company. He went above and beyond and kept the bar open until we boarded our flight at 1230am. Will is the best!!!

Over the last three years, I have made several trips to the Bay Area and always fly into Oakland. This is THE best local at the Oakland airport. The owners are awesome and really care about service. Billy is fantastic and the selection of beers is NOT limited to Gordon Biersch only. Bratwurst and the chicken strips are always fresh and the garlic fries are amazing with tons of garlic.

Nice little franchise. Joseph is awesome. I’m probably kind of a beer snob, and given how widespread Gordon Biersch is I thought they were an Anheuser Busch company or something(ignorant, I know). That made me think it would disappoint like many others. That kept me away for a while, but I was really happy with the IPA, blonde bock, Pils, and Hef. Wall plugs under mini bar, one nice TV, small enough to be relaxing… Not a single complaint from me. Prices seem better than Pyramid by memory, too…

Hey, what attracted me to this place was not only the great beer reputation but I found it interesting that of all the larger establishments in this airport, this tiny bar had the most people. Why? I’m gonna guess it’s the personality of the fun, very personable & expressive bartender. He makes you feel right at home and is 10 steps ahead of all his guests needs. Great job!

Their menu at the Oakland Airport branch is nice and simple with a few food items and all of their beers on tap. I just wanted some bonafide garlic fries(luckily there was a seat empty in the middle between me and the guy in my flight aisle) and a pint of Marzen beer. Ahhh, perfect! It put me in a relaxed mood for my quick flight down to Southern CA. Thank you, GB!

alright… the guys who work here are chill, I can see why people have rated them highly before. they are really uh, down to earth(?) and want to provide the best customer service, I see that. but… if basic food safety codes are being violated and the employees seem intoxicated? that’s a no. no chill, bro. just no. there were a couple guys sitting at the bar, the guy working the bar gave them the remote to change the channel to whatever they wanted, and made them feel really at home. while I was waiting in line to order, the guys sitting at the bar asks him for another pour from one of the beers on draft, he kind of gives him the«I’m so chill look how chill I am» wave and let’s the guy pour his own beer from the freaken draft. the customer then reaches across the bar, touches the beer spout to his freaking already-used glass, and pours himself a beer!!! and then pours his friend a beer!!! WHATINTARNATIONISTHISSHIET. the guy working the bar is walking in and out of the kitchen and after already taking my order, goes in the back, comes out again, greets me all over again like he’s seen me for the first time in his life and I’m like … he then says«oh right u ordered such and such» to which I reply, no. he goes to the back after I tell him again that I ordered garlic fries, and he comes back out a little while later, giving the guys at the bar some garlic fries while stating,” I made too much man.“ I’m glad u have love for ur bros, bro. but just do one thing at a time, finish the task at hand. while walking in and out of the back, he drops some kind of food on the ground, and then picks it up with his hands. kind of stumbling about. all while executing this graceful dance of his, he is eating food, chewin’ away. seriously so ew, no chill, what the fuh, peace out, deuces, please don’t work in food industry, run away and never look back simba.

Small bar at the end of the terminal with 1 tv. Can’t beat the location if you’ve got a gate in the 30s and don’t want to walk back to the main terminal area. The food selection is minimal for hot food, including a brat in a bun, chicken strips, and garlic fries. The brat hit the spot for me. There are also some pre-made sandwiches on the fridge. Beer was cold and refreshing and a great way to pass a 30 minute delay. Power outlets are located under the bar.

Solid place to kill some time while hanging out waiting for your plane. Heck, you made it through the stress of the security line, why not treat yourself to a beer before you fly? They have a good selection, so you should be able to find something you like.

So what do you do when you arrive at the airport far too early and have 2 – 3 hours to kill? You hustle over to the nearest bar, that’s what! Usually when I fly through Oakland on work trips I’ll park myself at Vino Volo in the Southwest Airlines terminal. You can’t go wrong with a glass of wine. But the boss wanted beer, and when you’re not paying, you go with the flow, walk up to the bar and order yourself a pint of Hefeweizen at Gordon Biersch. It was a welcome chill out spot after a day of constant go, go go, meetings, traffic, you get the idea if you’re a regular«fly in, fly out!» business traveler. The food is nothing really special, but garlic fries are what these guys are known for and they’re delicious when you’re throwing back a beer or two. Linda and Bobby took great care of us kept us entertained for sure and put up with my supervisors’ antics. Yes, even put up with us showing off pictures of our dogs and persistent requests to switch the channel to Sportscenter instead of Fox News. See, Bobby?! We brought you more customers(tips) in. People love Baseball! Stop by Gordon Biersch for a pre-flight drink, or if you have a serious chunk of time to kill.
