Does its job when I feel lazy and don’t feel like driving a couple blocks further for other taco trucks. Also don’t like how they share parking lots with the carwash. It makes the taco truck seems a lot ghetto-er or unsafe. My usuals are carne asada tacos and the burrito. Tacos are $ 1.50 though while others I’m the area can be $ 1 or $ 1.25 per taco.

A dissapointing lunch. I usually love taco trucks, because they have the real legit food that is flavorful and juicy, but this one was something else. Me and my cousin ordered a chicken burrito($ 6 each) with everything on it. Supposedly it’s $ 4.50 for a burrito and $ 0.75 to add cheese/guac/sour cream… oh well whatever, he’s gotta make a living somehow. So we start on the burrito — 10 bites later, still no chicken, there was literally maybe 4 thin slices of boiled chicken breast hiding inside the burrito. It was 80% refried beans and rice, 10% chicken, and 10% sourcream/cheese. What happened to the guac? The burrito was utterly bland, not even a dash of salt. They sprinkled literally 5 leaves of cilantro in my burrito. The salsa was also bland and provided in a thimble sized container. There was so much tortilla, the whole burrito was extremely dry. I definitely won’t be coming back here again, but hey they earned 2 stars for not giving me diarrhea

Ah the Taco Truck. Magical mobile purveyors of fast tasty treats. El Centenario No. 2, as the truck is marked, is parked at the corner of 38th and Foothills in the Parking lot of East Bay Auto Detailing(an old gas station) They have a broad menu of taco truck fare that includes my new favorite… Lengua. I never thought I would put that particular cut at the front of my taco filling list but done right, Tongue, yes tongue is the most delicate and tasty of meats. They have the gamut of other meats/cuts, burritos, sopas, tamales? etc. The pickled carrots/jalapenos were done just right too. Thumbs up. Stop here when in the neighborhood/barrio.

I have been here with friends and by my self, all hours of day and night. It’s always been mellow, but then again when you scream TACOTIME!!! One of your friends will invariably say, «but… that’s in East Oakland…» Tell them to stop being a pussy ass bitch. I will bring you here for a taco-off… especially if you are a pussy ass bitch and try to convince me the one by Lake Merritt is «the best in all of Oakland» — you might as well wear a fucking name tag that says, «Hi, I’m white.» I will bring you here for a taco-off, and I will win. And you will forever be indebted. And you will name your first born daughter after me and relinquish her soul to my command. I don’t eat much pork but those who do LOVE the carnitas. I am an avid supporter and consumer of the carne asada. The carrots NEVER taste like they were just thrown into some vinegar 5 minutes ago(hello, Lake Merritt). The burritos are equally awesome, and though the standard menu holds its own they have been accommodating of friends’ custom requests. So, what’s better than hitting up El Centenario at 4am to get a plate of tacos for ~$ 5 ??? That’s right. Nothing. Except maybe partying with Jesus.

El Centenario serves great chicken tacos. I’ve been there a handful of times, and have only gotten the chicken tacos, because I got them once and liked them so much, I figured, why bother with the other stuff. The tacos are cheap – $ 1.25 – and good. The chicken is nicely marinated, the salsa is delicious and the tortillas are great, too. They better be, though, since El Centenario is located right across the street from the La Finca tortilla facotry on Foothill. The location is a bit sketchy for a trip at night(and I’m not sure when the truck closes), but during the day, you always get to listen to the tunes from the car-detailing place next door while you wait for the tacos. To be honest, I don’t find the service all that friendly, but it’s a taco truck, not a 5-star restaurant, so who really cares? Just be careful of the crazy driving on Foothill…

i’ve have drove by this taco truck many times(evenings) since a late night diner died here. invariably, it was empty. parking isn’t too good in this area. just in front and it’s risky darting across the street(frogger?) since the cars are going so fast. a single latina worked this stand when i went. a school teacher who was also eating there reflected realisticly that there are worst places in the world. it was heartwarming hearing he wanted to better the world by doing education in «depressed areas» oh, my steak burrito was pretty tasty with sauces and condiment accompanyment. the al pastor taco was the tastiest i’ve ever tried! the rice in the burrito was a little undercooked but i will forgive this this time. i shall return!
