You couldn’t find a better group of advocates for landscape balance as these. From the lifecycle of a simple aphid to the impact of a complex society of producers and consumers, David and company subscribe to staying informed and continually strive at providing the best possible solutions for any scale problem. A true ability to analyze multiple inputs and provide cohesive designs. Any local business or home owner would benefit and enjoy abundance for years to come by working with them, as I have. Highly recommend A++!

I have been a student of David’s and also worked on a team of his on a permaculture landscape job. He live, breathes, and eats permaculture. His passion for sustainable and efficient design is infectious. Since being a part of his classroom, I have been able to apply permaculture design principles to my own home and yard but also to almost every aspect of life at hand. The ideas of sustainability and thoughtful design are widely applicable. David is capable as a thinker, builder, and designer, but he’s also just a great guy to be around. He’s an excellent teacher as well. It’s one thing to be knowledgeable, and it’s another to communicate concisely and clearly. David does both. I have the utmost confidence in recommending David to anyone looking for landscaping guidance.

Have a garden or landscape project? Hire David! His experience in construction and building make him a start to finish designer — he can plan a project and build it. His skill as a permaculture designer and teacher gives him the insight needed to make sensitive design choices that are good for the environment as well as the bottom line. He has the rare talent to create sustainable and functional spaces that are also aesthetically beautiful and structured. Get the best — beauty, skill, conservation, food — seriously, if you’re looking for the whole package, look no further, David is your guy.

First met David when I took his Permaculture Design Certificate program. David is incredibly inspirational and a master at urban permaculture design. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and was very impressed with his ability to come up with the perfect design for a given space based on the client’s wants.

David Cody is exactly what so many before me have said: a truly knowledgeable and talented, creative designer in the field of permaculture. I met David many years ago when what was to become the 18th and Rhode Island Farm was just being covered by tons of cardboard and mulch. Like my understanding of permaculture at the time, I arrived when the garden was still a vacant lot — but over the years the garden has transformed into a wonderful community asset, full of fruit trees both exotic and common, cob and earth built ovens and benches, and has become a classroom of sorts for observation and interaction. While my understanding and respect for protracted and thoughtful permaculture design has grown, I’ve also witnessed a growing number of students David has influenced, educated and inspired. So I, too, was a student of his Permaculture course, and realizing his talent in landscaping, carpentry and much more, chose to work with him in a continuing education kind of way, on many of his projects. Why? Because he is awesome at what he does. Together we built the custom chicken coop at Chiotra’s market, we’ve done irrigation installations for the farm, and currently we’re collaborating on a 1+ acre design in Hillsborough to create a productive fruit oasis, all in an effort to improve local food security, increase ecological resilience, and create spaces of bounty where people can play and enjoy life.

I met David when I took his Permaculture course in San Francisco. As a professional ecologist and educator I can say with confidence that David is a wonderful and inspiring teacher with a superior knowledge base. He also has incredible passion for the subject and literally eats and breathes Permaculture design. David is also very practical in how he approaches problem solving which is a result of his past experience in construction. I wish I could have stayed in the area, but Alabama called me back, but now I an armed with the knowledge that I gained via David and have applied it to my homestead and have even pass it on to my students. Thanks Dave!

David is not just a designer, he is a teacher of designers. If you are looking to make your business or residential space sustainable, David is your man. A real systems thinker, Davis combines high-level vision and leadership with integrity, efficiency, and a hands-on work ethic. I had the pleasure of being a student in one of his Permaculture Design certificate courses back in 2012 and he empowered me to change spaces in my own life.

David is highly skilled and passionate about what he does. He is a visionary designer and very attuned to the holistic picture of what a particular area has and needs. His approach is cradle to grave, carefully considering the impact of his designs and ways to reuse supplies, stack functions, and ensure a positive ecological yield. He teaches permaculture certificate courses as well(which is how I met him and was introduced to his landscaping projects) and is fun, intelligent, personable, and a pleasure to work with. He has a vast horticultural and architectural knowledge base as well and continually hones his skills and networks with others in the field.

David is tremendously energetic, hard-working, creative, and knowledgeable. I have used his skills to develop a 5000 square foot permaculture garden on a vacant lot that I own in San Francisco( ) and to design the outdoor space around a house in the middle of a 440 acre ranch in the Mount Diablo Range, outside of Livermore. As you can see from his Unilocal page and from the projects he has done for me, he is very versatile.
