DeVry University Oakland Center

I like to rate this university 5 star. I know this is also profit oriented university where profit comes first than quality but somebody who wants to work full time and study at the same time this could be the right match. I was taking class in New York where I had to deal with 30 – 35 students in one class. It was fun to be in class and learn so much. Some students were professional and some were just new and struggling a lot. After few class I moved to Bay area and transfer to the DeVry university Oakland City Center and got new experience. I like the classrooms and staffs. I found in one class there are 6,7 or sometimes 8 students and compare to New York I like it. Staffs are helpful and friendly. There is a coffee /​tea in one corner for students so they don’t have to go outside in break time. Once a month they do International Club Meeting where you can be a part of it and share your experience.
It is online/​onsite course so if you know how to study yourself without depending on professor you will do great. There are some really good professor and some are little bit out of knowledge of what they are teaching so you just have to make sure you pick the right professor. It’s all about how hardworking you are and how much free time you have. University is right in the heart of train station and safe as long as you don’t go away from that center. There is a security guard too if you feel scared to go to the parking area or train station at night. You can always ask for help. This university gives me platform to graduate and I am really happy with it.

DeVry is a great university which allows individuals to take classes online and on campus. The cons I experienced were the lack of classes available on campus for the Accounting focus in the Daly City Campus. They also failed to provide classes in specific accounting software like Quickbooks/​Peachtree. I graduated in February of this year and have not been able to find a job because most jobs want new/​entry level employees to have some kind of experience with accounting software. They also claim to help you find a job and that does not happen. Most of the jobs posted on their career website are the same as those on Craigslist. All that you do is send an email to your Career Specialist and let him know which jobs you applied for. The reply you will get is «Great cover letter» and «Do not forget to follow up after the interview» if you have an interview.

The San Francisco DeVry/​Keller location has moved to Oakland City Center.
