I had an electrical problem with an antique lamp and wandered in the shop to see if he could help. The owner was super helpful and tested out all the wiring and bulb and then provided a unique bulb for me which worked. He didn’t charge me and when I insisted, he agreed to taking $ 1 only. The bulb itself was probably more than that. I give him 5 stars simply because I rarely meet people as generous with their time & knowledge. I cant vouch for how it is to get your tv fixed with him but he didn’t seem interested in tricking anyone to me. He does have an accent that may make communication a little difficult, so just make sure you’re on the same page.

Chung’s TV Video Service does post its estimate fees on the counter top if you’re looking down on it. It’s not predominately visible, so it’s best to ask what it would cost for the estimate, don’t assume the estimate is free. It’s USD20 to look at my DVD player, applicable to repairs which is USD45 for my intermittent power problem. The problem has been fixed, don’t like their sneaky business practice of not full disclosure before opening the unit up and now you’re on the hook for the estimate fee, let the buyer beware and ask first.

After months of having to slap our TV on the back whenever the picture went black, we decided it was time to replace or repair our 3 year old 32″ flatscreen TV. We called around to see if we could get a free estimate. Chung’s TV told us the estimate would be free, unless we wanted a house call which would be $ 45. We said we would bring the TV in. After 3 days, they called with a repair estimate of $ 295(which I found a bit outrageous in itself). I told them thanks but no thanks and that I’d prefer to put that kind of money towards a new TV. They proceeded then to tell me I owed them $ 45 for the estimate. When I said they had told me it was free on the phone, they said«Oh, not for flatscreens. And we have a sign on the coutner on the shop that says so.» The estimate slip I signed when we dropped the TV off did not have any fee indicated. I plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but would also love to get my TV back so these crooks don’t repair it and sell it.
