I usually like coming here, it’s not the best but it’s my neighborhood spot. Tonight though, they were talking about me. It made me feel really uncomfortable. I underside just enough Spanish to make it that it was, about me and it wasn’t very nice. I lost my appetite and I wanted to leave asap. What a horrible experience.

I tried to order food and they picked up the phone and then hung up, twice. When they finally answered, they put me on hold and then hung up, twice. At my fifth time getting through, I ordered the BEEF soup and when I arrived the instructed 15 minutes later, they said I ordered FISH. English is native language and I pronounce and know the difference between fish and beef. I took the fish soup anyways after still having to wait another 10 minutes. Food, ok Service, awful

Very nice service! The staff is always friendly and helpful. The best refried beans ever, delish spicy chicken soup, and their spicy salsa is amazing! Neighborhood favorite!

This is a great hole in the wall spot for Mexican food. The service is always friendly and the carnitas are delicious. It is usually a quiet relaxed place for dinner time.

I have been going to this restaurant for years,(since I was a little girl), but I’ve never written a review for it; sadly now that I’m finally doing so it’s to talk about the deplorable customer service that I just experienced. My waitress was rude, and impatient from the moment we sat down at the table(when I mentioned this at the end of our meal she claimed she was«moving quickly»(and by moving quickly I mean she was literally walking away from the table as we were giving her our order) because she was the only waitress and it was super busy… there were 3 tables). I ordered my usual,(the chicken chimichangas) which were delicious, but my mom decided to try something new… the combination fajitas. Let’s just start with the fact that they decided to use tomatoes instead of red peppers, which of course became mushy after being sautéed. On top of that none of the meat(chicken, steak, and shrimp) was seasoned well. My mom tried to make do by adding salt and pepper, but after literally three bites she couldn’t do it, and decided to just eat her rice and beans. On closer inspection of the fajita meat we realized that it was basically dripping oil. When we brought this to the attention of the waitress she proceeded to cut us off, telling us that we were mistaken, our taste buds were wrong, and the fajitas were delicious, and I quote, «everybody else likes them, our meat is really good, sorry.» She then walked away. When we then asked her if she could take off the food my mother had practically left untouched she said«no, you have to pay!» We asked if we could speak with a manager, she said he wasn’t going to be in until Monday and there was no one else that could help us. This went on for some time… I won’t bore you with a play by play, but she was extremely rude and needed a serious lesson in customer service. I have worked in many a restaurant and I would never ever treat a guest the way she treated us. Customer service 101: don’t start off arguing with the guest out of the gate, especially if what comes out of your mouth is that their taste buds must be mistaken. The kicker is that she recognized our faces and knew that we’d been coming for years and that we’d never complained before, not to mention when we first called her over my mom just wanted to exchange her food for something else… we didn’t get a chance to get to that point before she became defensive. Needless to say I won’t be going back there… that’s a shame. They should be more choosy about the people they leave in charge.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. They always know when I’ve ordered tacos because I always do and they hook me up. I come here often and they have great customer service!!!

Decent family style mexican restaurant. MY favorite items are the soups and the chile rellenos. Burritos and enchilatas are okay but nothing fantastic.

I ordered the enchiladas verde lunch. I’m used to this meal coming with some type of salad and having the option to have grilled chicken at other restaurants. When I opened the to go box I was extremely underwhelmed. No salad. No chips on the side. Definitely not worth $ 8.99. What a rip off. 1 extra star for the good rice and beans. There’s too much competition in the area to ever eat here again. I won’t be back.

Case Vallarta’s homemade tortillas are amazing. The steak fajitas never let me down. The food is always fresh and served hot. The salsa is surprisingly on the spicy side but has great flavor. The décor leaves something to be desired but the food is always amazing.

Great take out Mexican spot. It’s a little dark and empty for eat in(for me), but I love that you can call and have delicious, fab quality food ready in 15 – 20 minutes. Me & hubby always get breakfast burritos here, but I’ve also had a shrimp burrito(which was delish). In the morning it’s all about the egg & chorizo burrito and vegetarian burrito. Skip the side of Guac for chips, it’s pretty expensive for a small amount. Most burritos range from about $ 5-$ 8. There are lots of Mexican spots in Oakland, especially around international, but this place always has consistent quality and taste so it’s been a breakfast b go to.

Live nearby and usually like this place. The nachos, wet burritos and fried chicken are amongst my faves. Today I felt that the woman taking my order acted really strangely. First she told me they didn’t make what I wanted. Then when I said«I ordered it last week» she said she’d need to go check with someone. Before she walked away I pointed it out on the menu board behind her only for her then to say it’ll take 30 minutes… Seriously? I’ve ordered it before and it’s never taken 30 minutes. Also two seconds ago you weren’t even sure you sold it. Felt like she didn’t want my business which is fine by me. Depending on who takes your order this place can be hit or miss which is sad because I love the mom and pop vibe. Won’t be back but thanks anyway.

Been going here for years specifically for their chicken burritos! Muy excellente! They have a patent on this one — their chicken burrito has a unique taste/flavor that I crave from time to time. Unparalleled! Give it a try… can’t vouch for the rest of the menu cuz I always roll with the same thing. I usually eat the food to-go. However, if you choose to dine-in, they’ve got a decent space. Usually there are a few customers in the building. The vibe is real chill. There’s a jukebox with Spanish music. It’s a great place to hang your hat any day of the week. Highly recommend Casa Vallarta!

Horrible service bland food. I come here for take out about twice a week for years only because I work in the neighborhood and don’t feel like standing in line at a taco truck. Over the last year the food has stayed the same(bland but acceptable), but the service has gone down hill. Each time I go I call 15 min ahead of time(always around 5:30)and there’s only a few customers. Last week she told me it would be 20 min, got there in 30 and waited an additional 30 min! A group of people that came in after me that she apparently knew had there table food before me! Wtf! Then this week I go to pick up a few tacos and when I get there, there’s only one customer at a table. She begins to ring me up and the phone rings. Instead of putting them on hold since I was there first she began to take their order. They must’ve had a laundry list because she was on the phone for a total of 13 min!!. I kept trying to get her attention but all she would do is look at me then look away. all she had to do was swipe my card! The whole point of calling ahead is so I can get in and out. F THISPLACE. This has been the type of service I’ve been getting for a long time now. they lost a good customer.

Loved the beef and fish tacos — spicy, flavored well. The salsa with the chips really kicks your ass, it’s where I am going to be getting my spice kick from now. Was looking for a good Oakland taqueria for a while and can’t believe it was waiting for me in my own neighborhood right next to our favorite local dive bar(the Parkway Lounge.)

Why I continually eat here: the waiter know my name and all my favorite dishes. Food is excellent, hot, and quick. If you want to eat like you’re at your grandmas house then come here. One of my top places in the Lake Merritt area.

After a day of running around and getting errands done, I came here to finally get some food. I got a veggie burrito and it was so excellent. Casa has the kind of burritos you need to eat with a fork and knife. I took it home to eat in front of the t.v. and fell in love with the salsa! So spicy and delicious! The tortilla on the burrito was slightly grilled, which I love! I want to try coming here with friends for a sit down meal because it seemed so friendly and authentic on the inside.

Let me begin by saying that this place is DELICIOUS. Every visit I am greeted by friendly and efficient staff. I’ve never had an issue with wrong orders, the portions are just right, and I never leave feeling guilty after eating here because this food is fresh and healthy… as far as Mexican food is concerned. Previous reviews claiming that this food isn’t authentic are completely mistaken. If by «non authentic» they meant greasy then they are right, these dishes are far from greasy. I am relieved to find a restaurant that doesn’t cook their food in lard, which is typical of Mexican restaurants, so when I was informed that their foods are cooked with soy bean oil I was impressed. Hands down the best guacamole I’ve ever tasted!!! It is fresh and flavorful with a hint of lime, I eat out frequently and have dined at many Mexican restaurants, more than I’d like to admit, and Casa Vallarta’s guacamole is what I crave often. Aside from this, all meals are authentic traditional flavorful Mexican meals. A must try!
