The first time we came, I was disappointed. After waiting for about 30 mins for our drinks that weren’t very good, not top shelf liquor, tasted very cheap. Figured I’d give it another shot, and I was disappointed yet again. The shrimp and chip was nasty, tasted as if the seasoned them with pure pepper, not sure what was going on with the batter. The Tokyo tea was also not very good. Seems as if the crab cakes was the only good thing on the menu. Will probably not return.

My medium rare burger was so good I started crying. Im not exaggerating. So fresh, charred to perfection, unbelievably juicy, and not the slightest bit greasy but had all the flavor. The chicken wrap was also delectably fresh. Fries were soft but not soggy(Which was how I like them, so ask for chrispier fries if youre into that), and the onion rings were out of this world(very different)! Best, most unique food I’ve tasted in the area! And the service was great, every one was really friendly and the chef even stopped by our table to chat. Clean restrooms to boot. Went in on a Wednesday night so it was pretty empty.

I’ve been here twice now. No beer on tap, is this really a sports bar? Food is a bit overpriced and takes forever. More of a hangout spot than anything else, patrons spend more time in the parking lot and in their cars than inside the establishment. Makes me miss Looney’s which is a scary statement.

I ate here with a co worker and it wasn’t that great. I had a chicken sandwich and she had a tuna melt. My chicken sandwich was ok nothing out if this world, my fries were over cooked and cold. My co worker hated her tuna melt. I gave this place 3 stars because the staff was very nice, if they weren’t I would have given this place 1 star.

There were lots of T.V.s in the joint and a bunch of people as well. Staff was very inattentive at first and barely even acknowledged our presence. After that we were escorted to a table which had screws so loose it also doubled as a lazy susan. We were brought water and then somebody came by to get our drink orders fifteen minutes later. The two beers then arrived promptly, twenty minutes later. Once the beers arrived we placed an order for some buffalo wings and onion rings. They said the kitchen wasn’t making lunch food till two so we waited the fifteen minutes till two. The food then arrived FIFTY minutes later. The service was VERY slow and most of the«staff» seemed to be just walking around socializing and having drinks. The food was mediocre at best and definitely overpriced. The only reason this place got two stars is because the server was polite and the bathrooms were surprisingly clean. We ended up asking for our check and leaving for a new sports bar at halftime. Ironically, upon arriving at the new bar, we were greeted enthusiastically by the folks that were at the table next to us at Bottom of the 9th. They had also left because of the poor service(they never got their food!), and had made their way to the same«back up bar» that we went to. It turned out to be a great decision. To top it off, the Packers won the game. Additionally, the bill was incorrect at Bottom of the 9th and we had to have them re-run it before we could finally move on.

Used to be Looney’s BBQ. Nice to have a place that sells stuff other than pork. There was one table ahead of us. It took them 25min to get our order out. Our two burgers had good flavor(I asked for extra black pepper), plenty of fries, and the onion rings were decent(not the best, but still good). Definitely got full. Don’t know what they’re doing with those pickles, yuck! Bottled beers for $ 3, no drafts. I would assume the beer is fresh because it IS a bar. 7 – 8 tv screens. Loud, clear, music system. Saw one pool table. Maybe there were two. Decent size place. If the kitchen can make good on all the menu items then I can see this place finding repeat customers. Minus one star: Our 25min burgers costs $ 10 each. We ordered for dine-in so we felt obligated to tip the waitress who rarely attended our table. Minus one star: The dim lighting was okay with the tv screens but, couldn’t hear the tv when they started blasting old r&b on the stereo. Could be better when they get the levels right.

I’m originally from LA and I wanted to take my boyfriend who was visiting to somewhere comparable to the many mom and pop restaurants like they have back home. Service was good. Food was NOT. Fries were unseasoned. I got the Turkey Reuben and it wasn’t every flavorful at all. My boyfriend got the chicken wrap said it was just okay. Nothing to be excited about. Sadly I won’t be returning but if you like bland food and football this the place to go. They had 3 different games on… Go PATS!

Great place to watch a game & have a drink. .. I ordered the lamb sliders, they were out of lamb. Nothing else on the menu but greasy or fried food, make sure you eat before you go.

As in any new business there are kinks to be worked out. One thing I see is that cleanliness is all worked out. The bar/tables and ladies restroom are always clean. There is liquid hand sanitizers throughout the restaurant as well. I love the fathead decals and memorabilia throughout the restaurant and bathroom. The pool table is located in the back near the jukebox. Some nights there are dj’s or karaōke. Enough televisions so that you can watch your sporting event. Give the channel or event to the bartender/server and voila! your game is on! Being a big football fan… I appreciate all the televisions. Even a television in the restroom… that was new/different! I had the lamb sliders and the mixed salad… NICE! I will return to enjoy other menu items and events at Bottom of the 9th Bar & Grill.

I went there on a Saturday night. My friend and I were charges $ 5 to get in because a fight was on. We sat down and we were there for about 15 mins before we were even acknowledged and asked if we wanted to order and drink we ordered drinks and food and the drinks took an hour! Then my food came out 15 mins before my friends food came out. We were waiting on other friends to join our party and chairs and a table wee take away from us because management forgot to reserve a section for a party. The customer service isn’t up to par. It wasn’t busy when we first arrived. The drinks come out to slow and that’s their money maker. The food was food I can’t lie. The most speedy thing that happened was the bus boy Don removed our plates as soon as we were done and he was very friendly! Not to mention ijs hands were very soft!. They need to step their customer service up and get more bartenders. I won’t be returning cause first impressions are a mutha!

We went on a Saturday night and won’t be returning. The Drinks were way over priced $ 12.00 for a shot of Hennessy. The bartender was inexperienced didn’t know what Capt Morgan was and the clientel was exactly what we don’t need in North Oakland. A customer told us that this was a «black establishment» and we should go somewhere else. We sat at a table and I asked the waitress to speak to the manager and 15 minutes later she came back and asked my name because he wanted to know who I was. I have yet to see the manager. I will say the staff was friendly but just having that incident ano response from the bartender or manager is really unacceptable!

Bottom of the 9th Bar takes over from Looney’s. physical setup is the same but with more flatscreens & a cleaner, brighter ambience. eats: burger, med. rare(10) chose salad over fries. –salad with thousand island, tomato, mixed greens fab. –burger came out reddish, no juice, not rare enough. –cheese, pickles, lettuce, et al all good –burger little too salty. 3.5 stars notes –didn’t do any drinks, early in the day –HH3 – 7, M-F? details to be worked out –parking lot to the side. –service leisurely, considerate, friendly. –owner?/waitress checked back for feedback… –chef told me about the veggie baguette special, passed. only portabello interests me now.

I was walking down to Looney’s when I saw the new Bottom of the 9th in its place. I walked in to take a look at the menu and was greeted promptly by a very friendly waitress. I asked about vegetarian options, noting that I didn’t see any on their new, print-out menus. Without hesitation, she went back to ask the chef if they had something for me. He came out and offered to make me an awesome sandwich: french bread with pesto, arugula, heirloom tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, toasted. It was delicious! The food was excellent, the drinks are as reasonable are you’re likely to find around here, and the service was quick and very friendly. I think it’s great that they try to focus on all-natural foods, and that they’re going to add some veggie options to the menu. I can tell they’re very excited to be up and ru! nning. If they keep up the good work, it’ll be a very fine establishment

Upon noticing that one of my fav BBQ places was gone, I figured I would check out the new Bottom of the 9th. I like what they have done with the interior, and its good to know that there is another sports bar around town, since its getting increasingly hard to find a place to go with empty bar stools. The drinks are good and the selection is worthy of note. There is still a small parking lot too, but it never is hard to find a place in the residential streets around there. Actually the work they’ve been doing on the street has made it easier to drive along that stretch of MLK. One thing I hope is that this bar does not end up being like the ones over in Temescal… way too trendy and with«hipster» wannabes. This place should stick with Oakland’s roots! Keep it real!
