The guy who makes and delivers the food is so humble! The food is incredibly clean and fresh! The food is prepared and served with love

The friendly and hospitable owner greeted us with his adorable three year old son. We had the meatballs and a chicken dish and it was some of the best food I’ve ever had. It was flavorful, distinct and fresh. The chicken dish was made with preserved lemons that the owner’s wife had made and he even gave us tips on how to make our own preserved lemons. Really wonderful establishment :)

Delivery was a disaster. We waited almost two hours — we live 5 min drive away– for our food and when we go it it had spilled out the bag and we were missing the main ingredient one of our dishes. On top of that the food was bland and the chicken was dry. Very disappointed. Maybe it’s better for dine-in but absolutely under no circumstances order delivery!

This will be the first and last time I ever eat at American Natural. I got delivery from this restaurant the other night and it came really, really late. Took over two hours. I ordered two hot sandwiches and a couscous salad. Everything was cold, one sandwich was on a brioche and the«wrap» was on this soggy tortilla that completely ripped/fell apart as soon as I opened it. Now the couscous salad didn’t have any couscous ATALL, just three different types of noodles, the majority of them completely uncooked ! All three dishes were supposed to be different, but we’re all the same thing: potatoes, okra, olives and some type of meat. We took two bites and couldnt eat any of it. When I tried to get a refund, they never showed or responded to the third party. Worst restaurant ever, the food was uneatable. What a waste.

DONOTORDERTHEFRENCHCREAMDESSERT!!! I made the wrong decision and ordered the French Cream Dessert. I expected that I would have a similar experience that I had in France, but this is literally just cream with syrup on top. I could’ve just drank whip cream. This place is unreal. Literally. It’s like entering another reality, like a strange yet familiar dream. You’re greeted by Said who plays you 60s Moroccan music on cassette and tells you stories of growing up in Morocco. Then you are served homemade Moroccan food, made from scratch, in which you can’t believe what’s happening in your mouth. You are dumbfounded, incredulous; new sensory experiences, delight and renewal for the jaded palate, rendered with warmth and soul. The food is so good it’s like drugs. The entire experience is transcendental and is transforming your consciousness; you are now becoming the person you wish to become.

Best late night delivery in the East Bay. Plus the delivery driver is a total sweetheart.

I found this place a few months ago when I was sick and thinking of having food delivered. I was curious about this Moroccan place with clearly marked vegan options in Emeryville that delivers that I never heard of before. it was also pretty late at night. Maybe 9pm. In the end I decided not to order since I’d have to order two meals to meet the delivery minimum. Last night feeling hungry but too lazy to cook I excitedly decided to give this place a try. I placed my order through Eat 24 at 6:24 pm. It took them about 25 minutes to reach the owner and then I got a text saying they reached the owner at my food would arrive at eta with no eta listed.(But it said 45 – 60 minutes on the page when I placed the order.) By 8:15pm there was still no sign of my order. At some point I messaged Eat24 who got in touch with the owner and then told me the food was late due to the rain and traffic but would be there in 15 minutes(and please be patient!!?). It was barely raining and my friend looked up the traffic patterns on her iphone. All of the roads were green. More time passed and still nothing.(At this point I am actually hanging out at a nearby business with a friend, but it’s so close I can run home in seconds.) I eventually go home and a few more minutes pass and there is no food. I am on my computer trying to figure out who to contact when FINALLY there is a knock on the door. The person tell me they were standing near our bldg’s mailboxes(which are next to the door to our laundry room) for 15 minutes(not true because I would have seen him when I had just come home) and that it’s confusing. «The first door should be Apt A. Delivery person is not like the mail man. We don’t look around» Etc just ranting for a few minutes while holding my food hostage(meanwhile I point to the A on my door twice to which his response is «it’s small»). When he is done ranting he tells me he is the owner and cook and talks about how great the food is, etc.(Which would have been nice if he hadn’t been creepy and weird for the few minutes before that). Then he tells me some slightly religious story people in Morocco with the same last name as me and then he finaaally gives me the food.(They must not deliver much. It arrived in a recycled Sports Basement bag. I’m all for recycling, but that’s a bit odd for a food delivery.) My neighbor had come home as this awkward delivery is happening and snapped a picture of his sketchy looking delivery car(tiny hand made sign tapped on top, plasticed over window) parked diagonally across our carport. blocking like 3 spaces. At first bite the food was amazing because I was so hungry at this point(I had the vegan tagine), but a few bits in I realized it was actually pretty mediocre. I had also ordered the vegan burrito which I was going to eat for lunch today until I noticed the cheese in it. :( I guess it’s my fault for not looking at the reviews before I ordered. I saw 4 stars and Eat24 made it seem like the delivery would be relatively quick so I thought it would be solid. Yea…no…just no.

Wow— the most amazing tea ever! The food was delicious, flavorful, unique, and so clean and nourishing. The owner/chef came and delivered himself. I was nearly speechless! He is clearly passionate about what he does, and his mission is to nourish the bodies that he feeds, and to share his blessings to those who he feeds. My boyfriend and I were impressed, and delighted to have such a unique interaction. It’s not common to have such an intimate connection with the person who prepares your food. In this day and age, we are so used to being waited on hand and foot, and often don’t think twice about the source — the energy that goes into the food, the love, and the tradition— really, I was so excited to have had such a unique and personal interaction. More about the tea— this stuff is pure magic! Not only was it absolutely delicious(like nothing we have ever tasted), but it came with a story. It’s a family recipe(he was taught by his mother), which serves as a medicinal beverage, known to support health and detoxify the system. The herbs(which settle at the bottom) are to be chewed and ingested — it’s medicine. The herbs used, were brought from his homeland in Morocco, and were dried in the sun — even more medicinal and energetic synergy! My BF and I know our food — we have been in the food/beverage industry for 13+ years, and have refined palates. This food is definitely not made to cater to the average American palate. It maintains is cultural integrity, and for some people, that may create a sense of discomfort. We, however, were deeply appreciative to have tasted this authentic and passionately created meal. If you have are receptive to culturally diverse cuisine, aromatic flavors, have an open mind, an open heart, and a belly waiting to be filled — you will be happy to try it!

I’m writing on Unilocal for the first time in years because the food from this place was so extraordinarily bad. I was actually blown away by how bizarre it tasted. The flavor did not resemble any of the food that was in the dish– meaning that if you closed your eyes and tasted it, you couldn’t connect it to any real fruit/veg/meat. I ordered the couscous with beef meatballs, vegan couscous salad, and 2 drinks(and it was $ 50 with delivery and tip). The meatballs had a spoiled synthetic perfumed garbage dog food flavor. :/And the salad was a mix of iceberg lettuce, green bell peppers, canned pearl onions on a soggy bed of couscous with a reddish creamy salad dressing. The recipe had too many things in it that don’t go together. :/Very disappointing(and still hungry). Also, same as other comments on Unilocal– delivery took forever to arrive. Super bummer :(

INSULTINGQUALITY. I ordered a chocolate and almond croissant and it was literally a giant plain croissant with a microgram smear of chocolate. What is wrong with you as a person that you think that’s ok.

I’ve been to Morocco and let me tell you, this food is the real deal. I ordered late night, and was delighted to receive a large plate of authentic, delicious moroccan food. I ordered the chicken tagine, it was cooked to perfection. The olives were especially good. Highly recommended, will order again.

Ordered 45 dollars worth of food from this grocery– never thought i would be getting the most disgusting food order ever in my life… I sorry but theres no other way to describe this. The delivery took two hours. All the food/drinks were cold. The salad i ordered did not even resemble food. It looked like throw up because i think in the delivery car they mustve dropped it– everything was mixed in the worst way. Tasted horrible. Seemed like they didnt even have what i ordered so was trying to concoct it with left over food items, i swear. The croissant here was all dried up and hard. They forgot my ciabatta bread. WORST part: all the drinks were spilled all over and were mixing with each other, probably because poor delivery. The delivery guy didnt even apologize for being late when i called and was rude toward me saying«its raining outside.» He didnt even come to my door. And when i did get to his car, he was extremely creepy and wouldnt stop talking, telling me his ADDRESS on san pablo st so i can come over!!! This place does not even deserve a one star. It deserves no stars but i cant select that. Im seriously worried im gonna wake up with food poisoning. TOTALWASTEOFMONEYDONOTCOMEHERE. DEAROWNER you suck, if you did not have what i ordered, you shouldve cancelled on me, instead of conconcting gross food and delivering it to a creepy guy 2hrs late

Great Restaurant & Café, freindly owner. A great place, open late, Home made Moroccan food. Walking down San Pablo after everything is closed this freindly establishment is highly recommended. One of the kindest business owners I have ever met. I saw him give a meal to a man i need, in this day and age such genorisity, and respect are rarely seen the great food and the great people make this restaurant a go too.

I was hungry at around midnight and went out to the only place open in the area, went in, and ended up eating some great authentic Moroccan food. As I went in, his kids were in the store, but as soon as I came in, he gave me 100% attention and gave me great service. What was more fun than the food was the owner, Said. This man is a straight beast. He played Soccer, Basketball, and Handball professionally and in the Olympics and now owns and operates a restaurant on his own to serve his family. What a goddamn inspiration. If I can work half as hard as he has throughout his life while still maintaining his high character, I’ll be happy. Good job Said, deliveries are hard as fuck when you don’t have a crew to rely on and yeah you may be late, but I’m really thankful I visited your shop today. Thank you.

Ok, so here’s the deal, all the 5-star reviews are fake. If you read more than a couple of them, you’ll notice a pattern – they all compliment the(truly unstable) chef/owner/driver, Said. All of the positive reviews follow the same basic rubric, praising a dish and then the owner and ambiance. The negative reviews also have similarities. A crazy person showed up to their house, hours late, with terrible food. I’ve ordered from here a couple times before I figured out that all the positive reviews are fake. They come in bunches every couple months. Also, anyone who leaves a negative review is attacked by the owner in response. He begins by claiming never to have served the person, and then describes in detail their interactions. He’s clearly racist towards Black Americans, he tries to shame all the women, and accuses every negative reviewer of being drunk. If you think I’m making ANY of this up, scroll down, and read one of his responses to a reviewer. Occasionally my girlfriend and I check back here for more crazy responses and read them aloud. They’re terrific. The food is not.

Great place and even better food. Said, the head cook and owner, is very hospitable and amiable. If you come to eat in person, plan to stay awhile. Although the food takes some time to prepare, it is worth the wait! A must for anyone intrigued by Moroccan cuisine. Try it!
