I was a vistor of this school for an event that my child had participated in. So this review is more informative than an opinion since I do not have direct involvement with school. It’s a main street and right in front of a bus stop. Therefore it’s easy to get to. Even when you are driving, it is a short ride once you get off the highway. It has the typical Champion Tae Kwon do décor, cubbies for shoes and sitting area for the parents. One thing that struck my attention when I first came in was the UTCA pro shop. It was the first one, I had seen withing the brand. As a parent, it it opens my eye as a seed with all the possibilities of what this school offers. It also reassuring to know that if my child needs something, it is easily available. Other information is at eye level. There is small office that keeps all discussions of business very private. The schools master has a strict demeanor, but like every teacher, he is teaching a specialization along with culture, and lifelong lessons that transposes beyond the scope of the school. I am familiar with some of the students and the quality of students is definitely noted. There is a great emphasis on disciple and basic respect when dealing with other people.

My son just joined up at Bayside Ultimate Champions Tae Kwon Do as a result of a Groupon I came across for a two week trial. It included a uniform as well so I think it was a pretty sweet deal. We wanted to see if this could be something he is into and good at. At the price I paid it was more than worth it to find out. It was very easy to call and schedule an appointment and parking is pretty simple about a block down in the restidential area. Just don’t park right in front as it’s a high traffic bus stop. They have many locations available so it’s also convenient. The bayside location was closest to us. We were told we didn’t need to bring anything, just have him show up in comfortable clothing ie: sweatpants and t-shirt. We showed up a little early so we got a chance to see some of the instructors and kids in action. Based on what I saw it seemed very promising. There’s two separate training rooms with a few instructors on duty. Parents are welcome to stay in the waiting room to view progress but must not be distruptive to the class. We met with Master Oh and filled out all the relevant paperwork to get the process started. I had no issues redeeming my Groupon whatsoever. Master Oh was a little preoccupied with everything going on in the dojo which is certainly understandable but still took the time to chat with us and he was very friendly and easy to talk to. My son learned the rules of entering the training area including taking off his shoes and bowing and then he was off with the rest of the group. We watched for a few moments to ensure he would transition well and then gave him his time as we didn’t want to make him nervous or be too overbearing. The class started out with jogging around the room for endurance, push up’s and other warm up exercises. They put on some upbeat dance music to keep their spirits up. At this point I stepped away and did some other things in the area for the remainer of the hour. There’s a grocery store across the street that I went to peruse and also a nice bakery down the block where I could satisfy my sweet tooth. I think this visit was a win win for everyone. When I went back to pick my son up he told me about the twist punches he learned and how he was practicing kicks. He said he was very tired and the first thing he wanted was a big glass of water. He got a great workout and has already begun learning a few techniques. Most important he said that he had fun and everyone was nice to him. Master Oh said that he did well for his first day which made me happy. On our way out he received his uniform and couldn’t wait to try it on. I also couldn’t help but notice that all of the other students were very polite and respectful even to the other parents. Everyone was helpful and welcoming. We will be headed back for his next class on Thursday. They have a lot of specials currently going on for the summer and for new students. I highly suggest you give this place a try. They were completely professional in handling everything from start to finish and I look forward to bringing him to his next class.

Our son has been with Bayside Champions since May 2014 and loves it! Aside from the physical benefits of Tae kwon do, we are glad for Master Oh’s emphasis on character, respect and discipline.

Master Andrew Oh, is a great Tae Kwon Do master with tons of experience! Under the guidance of his father Grandmaster Sang K Oh, Master Andrew Oh has won numerous Tae Kwon Do championships all across the world! He is not only a great Tae Kwon Do athlete, he is one of the most passionate, caring, and professional Tae Kwon Do masters I have ever met. If you are looking for a Tae Kwon Do school for yourself or your child, this is the place to be!
