Sevan is a great place to go to for great tasting dining and catering. Service is beyond excellent and any concerns are addressed. Well behaved waiters ensure a comforting dining experience. Besides the stellar service, Sevan never fails at providing an elegant atmosphere with their disciplined décor. The best part of the whole experience is the food. I used to go to afghan or Turkish restaurants to satisfy my middle eastern cuisine desires. However, Sevan’s Armenian oriented middle eastern food is by far the most flavorful food I’ve had. Fantastic appetizer options before you have the main course. Definitely consider for family affairs RECOMMENDATION: Their rice and chicken with some babaganush(grilled eggplant) on the side and s nice glass of coke. Yum!

Our days of eating out seem to have ended now that our family has expanded, but we recently were able to visit Sevan restaurant for a baptismal lunch. I’m tempted to give it five stars since this was one of our first meals alone, but the truth is that Sevan is a fine choice for a casual meal but nothing more. A little digression on the various kinds of Armenian restaurants. Sevan is an Armenian restaurant that has its roots more in Armenia the country than Armenian food as interpreted in the middle east. Thus, the mezze, although aping that produced by Lebanese or Syrian Armenians, just isn’t as good you might expect. The dozens of small plates you might get at a real middle eastern place simply aren’t here. Not their fault. And the mezze that is available is competent, but standard stuff — Cortas canned hummous and baba ghanouj(I think) gussied up to look like something more. Having said all that, the restaurant is pleasant and abundant, the rich, buttery basmati rice that accompanies the tasty(and well priced) kebab main dishes is spectacular in the way of many Persian and Armenian restaurants and the service is unfussy but good. If you have a ken for some kebab and rice, and happen to be in Bayside or Long Island, I wouldn’t think twice about coming here. You’ll be treated well.

My husband and I have been to the Sevan Armenian restaurant many times, both on casual dinners and for more formal gatherings and celebrations. I LOVE this restaurant. It is a nice family owned place with home-made fresh Armenian food and nice-sized portions. You will find TLC in everything — delicious and authentic food, friendly staff and live music during the weekends. We celebrated our son’s first birthday at this place and were extremely happy with the experience. The owner is very friendly and helpful and always accommodated all our desires. We definitely will be going there often.

I have lived down the block from Sevan since they first opened but never tried it out. I recently made the mistake of eating there. Now I guess you can call me spoiled considering that I am dating an Armenian woman who happens to be an excellent cook but this food was just bland. I ordered the lamb chunks and It was if the chef took a beautiful piece of lamb and just threw it over the fire. There was no flavor or spice to be found throughout the dish. Armenian cuisine as well as all Middle-Eastern cuisine are known for their beautiful flavors and taste, Sevan was lacking both.

Went out to dinner here last night, with two Armenians(including myself) 3 latinos and an Italian. Strange combo but they wanted to see what armo food is like… Apparently that night they were having a doctors seminar and we had to sit through a powerpoint presentation throughout our dinner… awkward is an understatement. THEFOOD: Overpriced, portions are decent, the food was beyond bland. Armo food is known for its delicious meats and spices. The lamb was fatty and chewy with nothing on it. The rice was okay. The french fries were really good but thats about it. The beregs and lahmajoons were terrible! You can tell nothing was made fresh, that dude just whipped them right out of the freezer. Beregs were $ 3.00 a piece!!! Great service.

I hadn’t been at Sevan Restaurant for a while. However, recently we had few family events and we were large group and we had nice experience. The food is delicious! They have doubled the space and it’s very nice now. They have a small stage for entertainment.

Sevan is a wonderful Armenian restaurant and grocery store in the borough of Queens. Any time I go there I feel like I am transported to Armenia. The grocery store has a variety of coffees, Armenian beverages, deli meats and cheeses and dried fruit. While the restaurant is small it is beautifully decorated and the service impeccable. You can order Armenian BBQ which is healthy because the meat is grilled without sauce and serve with broiled vegetable such as tomatoes, pepper and eggplant. Or you can order a variety of other lunch or dinner options. From lamb chops to pork chops. You can get pretty full on their appetizers: hummus, Lahmajoon(Armenian pizza), kebab, Tabbouleh, and more. Worth going to for any occasion.
