Fun little tasting room. Wines were a bit pricey for the quality but from a boutique winery, this is expected. A few tasted as if the were un-casked(?) a bit early. Might stop in again when in the area

For oenophiles and nature lovers, this is the perfect stop on the way to the Yosemite Valley. While Idle Hour sources fruit from vineyards near and afar(but not the Sierra Foothills), the winemaker ensures this is a local operation with all wine made on site. They use gentle methods to keep flavors as close to the fruit as possible resulting in delicious and unique wines that surprise with each new vintage. At $ 5 a tasting(but no fees waived with purchase), it can’t be beat. Spend your idle hours prior to your park visit here. We were glad we did.

Highly recommend! Quant cute winery. Very friendly and knowledgable staff. Delicious wines, surprisingly good! Chill environment! $ 5 for 6 tastings! Great place to swing by and get local tips about food, beer, wine and Yosemite trails.

Idle Hour Winery is a hidden treasure located in Oakhurst. They have a great flight of wines, starting w/a Pinot Gri, Cab Franc(one of my favs) a GSM, Tempranillo, Syrah and Petit Syrah. Our server, an adorable tall blonde gal whose name I did not catch, was very knowledgeable as she took us through the flight. She was excited to share that she played a major role in helping produce the next vintage. All their wines were very good and reasonably priced at $ 22 – 26. Our server told us about the fun events they have next door at the Queen’s Inn, so we asked if we could take a peek at the rooms. She was happy to oblige and showed us around. We bought a bottle of wine and planned our next visit to Idle Hour, and possibly taking over the Queen’s Inn w/all of our friends:)

Idle Hour is a great place. They have very good wines. My rock band has played there twice for a private and a then a public party. They really bring in a lot of people and can pack the house(even on a very very hot day), which I think shows how respected and enjoyed by their community they are!

2011 Viognier, John Simpson Vineyard, Madera. Tasting notes: Crisp and light flavor. It would pair well with a walnut, apple, and chicken salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Suggested pairing with Thai Red Curry Squash Soup

What a sweet little spot for winetasting! We were visiting friends at Bass Lake and they brought us here. Our pourer was very knowledgable and interacted with our conversations like she was part of the group. Very sweet young lady. :) We bought a Cab and a Blend and had a chance to walk the property. I love the peaceful setting of this place and will definitely go back next time we’re up that way.
