Nice surprise! Called and got a same day appointment with Ruth. She was awesome. Staff very knowledgeable and salon has high end products. Would definitely recommend.

I hired Ruth to do my makeup/extensions for my wedding, and it was definitely the best investment I could have made! She nailed my hair color for the extensions and they blended seamlessly. She listened to my wild rant on all the different ideas I had for my hair and somehow managed to pull off exactly what I had in mind. She also took care of my bridesmaids hairdos on site. Ruth does a great job and is so careful and thorough. My wedding pictures came out fabulously. I can’t wait for my next hair appointment!

I found this place in a rush, and couldn’t be happier I did. The place is very unassuming, but when you walk in you quickly realize this is all part of it’s charm. I go to Ruth, and she’s talented enough to work at any high end salon as I’ve always went to the best place I could find(Somone once told me, «never go cheap on a hair cut or a razor», words of advice a guy should live by:) She’s fun to talk to, and I’d be suprised if you’d find someone who you’ll like more when getting a haircut. The quaint little place is def worth checking out, incredibly talented stylists, friendly, and you get a level of service that you probably would not get at a salon unless the individuals working were in charge of their business such as this place.

For some reason Unilocal removed my prior review so I am writing another one. Ruth is amazing. When it comes to everything hair related. She always does my color and keratin treatments. She even went so far as to use the keratin treatment that I preferred even though she did not originally offer it. In addition to being an amazing stylist, she is honest when it comes to opinions of what would look good or not in terms of color or cuts. I find that to be one of the most important things, as we have all had crazy ideas when it comes to our hair and it would have been nice to have that honest opinion before making bad choices in the past. She also does my eyebrow waxing and does a great job. I highly recommend her.

So i had the exact opposite experience happen when Ruth did my extensions. She used the Tony Odisho extensions on me and I couldn’t be happier. I don’t trust many people to do my hair bc its a challenging texture and I trust her. She layered and blended the extensions so well that you can’t even tell they are extensions. She colored it a beautiful red/violet color. I get compliments on my hair and color every day!!! Thank you Ruth, my hair couldn’t look better.

What a nightmare! Please read all!!! So I found this salon off the internet looking for a good place to get Keratin Extensions. Tony Odisho was the best brand in Chicago land so I decided to check it out. I tried to find a place close to where I worked in Oak Brook. I found this place on the Tony Odisho site. I Unilocaled Shear Point Tower Salon and they were a 5 star. So I went there. I made an appointment with Ruth. I had tape in extensions in already so she charged me $ 50 to remove them and she was going to schedule me the next day to get the keratin bonds in. It was $ 125 per pack and I got 3. I had to make a down payment of $ 100, which I was okay with. This was not my problem. The day I got my previous extensions out I asked if I should touch up my roots since they were growing in. She told me she could do it no problem. I showed her pictures of what I wanted. It was mainly just the same color I had but a little bit lighter. Long story short, I left there crying! It was not what I wanted at all. My hair was yellow and white. I looked like I was balding in one area. I called Ruth back asking her to please fix it and she attempted. When I walked in I told her I didn’t like the yellowness in my hair. Just get rid of the yellow that’s all. And what does she end up doing… adding more yellow! She told me the next day when I came in for the extensions she would fix it to my liking. The next day I went in and she washed my hair one last time to get rid of the tap from my previous extensions and make my hair very dry so the keratin extensions would stay. To which then she put in the keratin extensions, much closer than she was supposed too. She was supposed to be certified in Tony Odisho extensions! She then did a quick«trim» basically taking two sections of my hair and making it a straight line not taking any time styling/layering. She then made an appointment with me that next week to fix my yellow hair but in my mind I really didn’t want her touching my hair again! She told me the total will be 350 since I already paid 100. I was told it would cost me $ 450 so I was fine with the price. Extensions are expensive but what I wasn’t okay with was her charging me $ 50 for a cut and wash. I’m thinking in my head what cut and wash?! Whatever I brought out my credit card and was ready to pay. She was ready with her iPhone and the adaptable credit card reader to pay. She asked me do I have a check. I said no all I have is a card. She said well I try to only charge $ 200 or less on this. Is there any way you can go to the ATM down the hall? I asked,“is it a chase ATM because that’s what kind of card I have. If not then no I’m not getting charged more.” She then asked her coworker whom is I believe the owner named Sara where the nearest chase bank is. I stopped them and said no I’m not driving out of my way to get cash. She should have asked ahead. Then after she swiped my card she showed me options for tip. 10, 15, 20% or customize. I gave her $ 20 and that was being nice. I shouldn’t have given her anything. The next day I called to talk to Sara the owner about just getting my money back for just the color because I had to go somewhere else where I know I would love it. I was asking for $ 60 back after all the money I spent there and customers are always right they should at least do that for me but no. Sara made a big ordeal about how Ruth took 10 hours on my hair. Um I’m sorry don’t you think I was there too?! Do you think I wanted to be there for that long… NO! She told me they would call me back later in the day which they didn’t. So I called Chase Bank the next day and made a claim for the charge I made at the salon. I will not be returning to this salon again. This is just a fair warning for you ladies looking to get your hair colored or get extensions. I’d advise you go somewhere else.

I’ve been to every type of haircut place — plush stylists to basic barbers. All I want is a good haircut at a decent price in a non«head factory» environment(that’s where people are stacked up waiting, eying the chair as if you’ve taken something that’s their’s). So it’s easy to see why I’ve been going to Shear Point for 15 years — it delivers on what I’m looking for every time(without the other B.S.). Another great thing is that it’s right next to the Oakbrook mall, so I can often combine a haircut with lunch or shopping for a needed item. The salon is in the Oak Brook Terrace Tower building, so you will not see any signage for Shear Point, but trust me it’s there and it’s a great value.
