SUPER nice people that will spend hours(literally!) with you figuring out just the right framing and matting combo for whatever it is you want to frame and will execute it beautifully! They can get pretty busy, but if you call ahead and go when they’re not crowded, you can really take your time looking at their MANY options and finding the one that’s just perfect. Only negative side? It’s EXPENSIVE… but it’s custom framing, so really, what did you expect? ;] It’s the kind of job that will last a lifetime, though, so is worth it for those«special» pieces.

I have done a lot of art work. I used to go to the Great Frame Up to put together my own frames. So, I went there and found out that it doesn’t work that way any more. I said OK. and selected matting and framing for one of the two pieces that I wanted framed. The cost would be about $ 500! I had to scale back my desires. I then selected much simpler frames and mattes. The total for the two frames was still well over $ 200. You need to know I used to build my own for less than $ 30, as well as cut my own mattes. I was happy with the service. The quality of the work was very high. However, I will probably not go back. I will base the size of my art on standard sizes and buy some artwork in frames from Bed, Bath, and Beyond or some other store, and just replace it with my art.

Don’t be fooled just because this location is part of a chain: This is the BEST framing experience I have had in the Oak Park area! They have a variety of mats, frames and glass to choose from and the techs are knowledgeable and helpful. The turnaround time was very reasonable, too. It’s pricey, but you get what you pay for, and I could not be happier with the final product!
