After my sons got lice I was mortified. I was frantic, and didn’t know where to start. We did an at home treatment and went as far as shaving their heads. For a better piece of mind my sister in law and I came to the salon as we both have thick and longer hair. Theresa was amazing. She was so reassuring and helpful. She taught us how to comb and what to check for. She made me feel at ease and reminded me that lice is nothing to be embarrassed about. I felt so much better, and relaxed.

After a dozen successful years of dodging the «Scarlet L», by the time I recognized it on my kids, we had pretty mighty cases going. One might (perhaps did) freak out a bit. But a call to Shiny Strands at 8:30pm was returned within 15 minutes, Suzanne was so reassuring and calming, and had us in her super comfy chairs by 9am the next day. Kids got snacks and movies, and away we went.
Suzanne has great knowledge and perspective. She does not fear sell or rely on gimmick devices and products that other service providers rely upon. Her team educates you on what needs to be done, teaches you how to do it, then offers to do as much as you would like to outsource to her professional staff, who are thorough, kind and gentle.
The level of reassurance I received (including head bugs are not bed bugs… they have not ‘infested’ our home) and education I received not only took care of our immediate need, but made me feel empowered to complete the follow-​up, and take steps to reduce our risk of ever get caught unaware again.
This service is far superior in efficacy and safety than dousing your kids with pesticides, and priced at a fraction of the cost of others. Even if you feel capable of handling the problem yourself, Suzanne Lavin will share her wealth of knowledge to ensure you have the information you need to be most successful.

So… I really did not want to spend my Friday evening here. However, since I had no choice with two kids with lice… I spent a couple of hours enjoying the lovely place and taking in all of the interesting and helpful facts that Suzanne passed along as she treated my children. Loved looking under the microscope at the pesky critters too. The kids were treated to movies, snacks, and fun on a chalkboard coffee table. The space is immaculate and beautiful with repurposed items. The location is VERY convenient with easing parking. Suzanne got me in within a couple of hours of calling with my LICE emergency. Highly recommend if you have these annoying bugs invading someone’s hair!

Great wonderful place! I cannot say enough good things about Shiny Strands and Suzanne. After spending hundreds of wasted dollars on over the counter products, I finally found this place while searching online for more home remedies. Shiny Strands is educational, wonderful, clean and helpful place to go. Suzanne educated our family on head lice. She was able to get us in right away and I was able to come in after work hours. I would recommend this place to anyone with this problem. Don’t buy over the counter products, just go here and get taken care of. I was very satisfied, and able to sleep comfortably after going here.

I came here for a checkup. Suzanne was extremely helpful and she educated me all about lice. The place is very clean and had a lot of things to keep kids busy.
