Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Great food and drinks at very reasonable prices. The cocinita pibil is just sooooo good!

Went there for brunch. Service was outstanding and the food was well prepared. We ordered the vegetarian skillet with mexican squash and the duck benedict. Both were delicious. I would absolutely repeat for a good quality brunch.

Met my Compadre for dinner on a Friday night. Elliott our waiter made great recommendations on the martinis and a new tequila for both of us, Casa Noble. The standard fare guacamole was tasty and so was the ceviche. My Compadres shrimp main dish was good but he still coveted my salmon main dish, according to him. I found the salmon tasty along with the accompanying sauce. The place was electric and festive with people having a good time.

First time visiting: excellent food, atmosphere, and service. To the manager Matt, if you are reading this you are incredible at your job. My bf and I were waiting a while for a table before being seated. Unfortunately after we had our table we kept waiting and waiting; so we decided to leave. We were two steps from the door headed out before Matt pulled us aside and noticed that our menus were still on the table and that we had not eaten. Matt apologized and asked if we would reconsider dining as he assured us he would take care of us the rest of the night. He did just that. I am impressed with how he actually cared about his customers. The food came out and was simply delicious. The chicken sopes, ox tail, and ropa vieja were fantastic. What I found more impressive is that Matt was willing to pitch in around the restaurant. I saw him carrying plates and silverware to a table for set up. He wasn’t one of those hands off managers, he was willing to help out where needed. He was extremely professional the whole night. I will remember this overwhelmingly positive experience and will return next chance I get.

Classy Mexican restaurant in the heart of Oak Park. Perfect for a date, family events, or dinner with friends. Fantastic menu, phenomenal outdoor bar area.

I was excited to finally try Maya Del Sol. The reviews are great and I walk past this cute little place all the time. The atmosphere is really cute outside, so if you can eat on the patio, do it! The drinks were great(and different) and the staff was wonderful. Our waitress was very nice and professional. The only downfall, which is a big one, is the food was not impressive. I ordered the ropa vieja and the meat was so tough and chewy, I did not even eat it. We also had the tuna ceviche and it was pretty fishy(I’m not big on fish so its possible it was my personal opinion). I think from this experience, and the price, I would not come back.

Great Mexican food in a casual and comfortable setting. Great place to go for a quick bite or dinner. Great ambience, great service. Can’t rave enough of the how fast and friendly the servers and bus boys are. And it’s fast service and meals are ready for the tasting in minutes. Highly recommended server, Torstin. Very attentive, friendly, well-versed and very accommodating in making your night an appetizing and delicious night. Even gluten-free friendly. Will definitely be seeing me again…

We have fun every time we go here. They are trying very hard to create a special atmosphere and they are very focused on the food. I appreciate their fusion approach. It’s upscale interior Mexican(as in not Tex Mex/border/flour tortillas and orange cheese) with attempts to include other influences. The margaritas are great. The salsa is very good. Highly recommended if you find yourself in the Oak Park area.

After not going for a few years(due to distance), we stopped there this past weekend to enjoy the wonderful patio. It’s like an oasis in Oak Park and to me, one of the best patios in Chicago, too. It’s just a wonderful night to be sitting outside enjoying the great weather while sipping one of their great drinks. The drinks were fine, but to me, it’s the service and food(besides the patio, of course) that are the real standouts. Our server was Ernesto and he was great — as well as everyone else that works there… from the busboy to the chef to the manager to the wait staff. I love restaurants where the manager isn’t too«high up» that they also help out and clear tables or get drinks. That shows to me that it’s the type of restaurant where the staff is close and everyone works together. That says something to me. Food wise — we started with the Caesar salad. I have no idea why my husband ordered it at a Latin restaurant as an appetizer, but he did. It was just okay. The chips and salsas to start were really good and the chips had a nice pinch of salt on them. I had the solomillo — which is a fllet with a slight blue cheese sauce in a habanero/red wine reduction with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I love spicy so I loved the habanero reduction sauce. But, it is not for the faint of heart. My husband had the mahi mahi special in a tomato cream sauce with peppers. He thought it was one of his best seafood dishes in such a long time. He licked it all up. We did order the baked churros with maraschino sauce /chocolate and a scoop of ice cream. It was good, but the entrees were the shining star. I wish Maya Del Sol was in the city, but unfortunately, it’s not. If you’re ever close and want a delicious meal, I highly recommend Maya Del Sol.

After my previous experience(see below), I was ready to stay away from here forever. But after being notified of my experience, I received the LONGEST apology letter ever from their manager, and an invitation to return. I can appreciate that things happen, and I also appreciated the fact they wanted to make things right, so back we went to Maya! We sat on their lovely patio and had wonderful service from the get go. We were seated, given water and chips within a minute, and had a funny, charismatic waiter. Having spoken to the manager prior to coming, I was nervous the service would be over the top to try to impress us, but we noted the same service being given to everyone around us. It was a nice sight to see! We ordered drinks, the guacamole app, and I ordered the mushroom tostada with additional chicken. He ordered the pork tenderloin with risotto croquetas. All of the food was great. I’d say my least favorite was the guac. It was good, but I’ve had better elsewhere, or even from the deli at my local grocery. But the tostada was loaded with mushroom, chicken, beans, greens… yum! My pineapple mojito did not disappoint either. My guy enjoyed his pork, and especially loved the risotto croquetas! Overall, a very redeeming and impressive experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Been here several time in different settings.(Group, Date, Parents, Myself) and ALLWAYS get the Mangaso is so refreshing. Although I have ordered a mix of things. I’m usually fine with just the braised pork nachos(a little sweet) and a Mangaso(or 3 Mangaso)

Margaritas. Good margaritas. That’s what I was looking for when I was in the area. So I remembered that Maya del Sol had some of the best I’ve had. I haven’t been to Maya del Sol since a Unilocal event a few years ago. Great food and great service, just like I remembered. They sat us(four of us) on the patio. I love patio’s and that’s no secret. I mean, why would it be, that would actually be a really dumb secret. Anyways, this patio is big and the décor is splendid. My sister even commented that she felt like she was on vacation sitting out there. Drinks — Three of us had«La Leyenda» which translates to «the legend», a house special margarita with reposado. It was solid, strong yet tasty. A few of these and I can see people getting cray. One of us had a mojito which could be made with your choice of coconut, pineapple, or mango. He opted for the coconut and it was one of the best mojitos I’ve tasted. Ridiculous how all you taste is coconut and mint, the alcohol is hidden perfectly. You could have 10 of those and still want more. For dinner we shared three different tacos(blackened tilapia, barbacoa and shrimp), and cochinita pibil. All of the items were delectable! The tacos tasted fresh and that’s exactly what I want when I have tacos. Three tacos came with the order, I had a hard time finishing my third one, that’s how big their tacos are. The cochinita pibil was soft, flavorful and came with black beans. That was also a big portion. It’s a tad pricey but worth it. I suggest people check out Maya del Sol if you can. You will NOT be disappointed with their food or drinks!

Definitely in my new top 5 restaurants. That’s right. Read on. Little do you find a place where the people who work there are excited about the food. Think about it. The waiters hype the bartenders’ work. The bartenders hype the food. That’s team work. And that’s absolute confidence in your product. Our awesome waiter, Elliot, launched our early dinner. He was excited about the food. Knowledgable. How it’s made. Why they do the way they do. Eager to please. Eager to correct if anything was slightly off. On point with all recommendations. It was an experience from him, just taking us through a descriptive ride of what to expect with our meal(no pun intended. but really, you’ll feel that your x-course tasting has been fine-tailored). Ambience: several areas with different feels. The outdoor patio is chill. Think an outdoor miami or LA restaurant vibe with vibrant colors, loungey-like seating. cabanas. even an outdoor bar. inside bar area: downtown chicago upscale bar vibe. beautiful lighting. Another room was darker and more intimate, romantical. While a separate area was just filled with tables of larger groups and a bustling vibe. Perfect for twosomes or groups. Food: Chips and salsa. uhhhhh only the best chips and salsa i’ve ever had anywhere! comes in a fancy iron-wrought holder. sexy chips, i guess. but the salsas are unlike any other. the verde is sweet, which was surprising. the red had a mild heath, but was drinkable.(…and they do refills. *nudge nudge*) Ropa vieja con platanos. I’m already a ropa vieja lover(and would love to be a connoisseur.) Perfectly seasoned, sauced, and yet doesn’t get stuck in your teeth at this beef sometimes does. Pairs well with the plantains. Perfect savory and semi-filling appetizer to bate your appetite. Scallops. In my book, scallops can be the test: if a spot can cook scallops beautifully, they’ve got my utmost respect. And considering that this spot isn’t even known for seafood, I was definitely impressed! I asked Elliot about it, and he gave the«Nice choice… pff. you won’t regret it» kind of response. DIDNOT disappoint. These were ample in size(yes, and it deserves those words!), and delicately prepared. Perfect sear. The green sauce was amazing. Another wow factor: best risotto I’ve ever had. BUTTHISIS A LATINAMERICANRESTAURANT! so mind-blown. For drinks, i got the mangoso. for mango lovers, this is perfect. the chili-rim adds a perfect kick to offset the drink’s freshening sweetness. My second cocktail was the El Pepinito. Cucumber and jalapeño. I know this is mind-boggling cluster, but it works! Perfect refresher with that jalapeño punch. I could so do this again. i’ve never tasted anything like it. Then we got rained on! servers were accomodating, willing to move umbrella’d tables around so we could still enjoy our meal, despite the daytime shower. When it started pouring and threatened spills on our food… GETTHIS! they gave us an umbrella to walk us inside! It was kinda cute and romantic and definitely gave this spot brownie points. They truly cared about keeping our experience on a positive note. We relocated indoors for dessert. I had the tres leches. He had the abuelita chocolate mousse cake. the chocolate cake was balanced. Rich with the dark chocolate, but light in texture. The tres leches was more spongy, holding in the milky liquid. Honestly? they were best when taken together in the same bite. In my book, the desserts weren’t out of this world(for this price), but still worth trying. Here’s my last note. It was a downpour by the time we were done. We came out on a random Thursday. and the place was PACKED. If any restaurant fills up, rain or shine, on a random weekday, that’s a great sign that they’re doing something right, and it’s worth going out of your way for. I’m sure to come back. There’s so much on this menu I’d love to try.

If you are looking for real authentic Mexican food this is not the place. Everything has a sweet taste to it. Now there margaritas are delicious and a must try! I tried the trio plater wasn’t so good the tamale they served was sweet. I also ordered the ceviche platter it didn’t taste like real ceviche. I would not come back to visit on a empty stomach but I will come back for drinks!

Maya, Vaya! If you don’t know what Vaya means — it means, «go». And go you must! When picking Oak Park as my new ‘hood, I was worried about the single scene, the party life, and most importantly, where I would find stellar drinks that would please my sophisticated, dude(ly) pallet. I am so impressed with MDS that I’ve gone back twice in one week. The great: Old Fashioned. If you like Whiskey like me, you will be so impressed with Sean’s mixologist skills here. Maya needs to keep this guy around, he is the key to a good drink. No offense to the manager who made another Old Fashioned for me at one point but his did not compare to Sean’s in the least bit and I had to send it back. Those cherries they use are also amazing. Order this! If you don’t like whiskey and instead prefer fruity, girly cocktails, the eight ladies I was dining with ordered an array of those foo-fa drinks and there was not one complaint throughout the night. The food: I had the ropa vieja. I’m Cuban and was basically fed ropa vieja from the moment I could chew real food. This was really good here. I was impressed. The seasonings, the tender meat, and the beautiful presentation: oh la la! Everything was top notch. My only complaint: c’mon, Latino dude in the kitchen, you know Cuban dishes like these need some arroz! This should certainly be served on a bed of rice with plantains. The atmosphere: cool and chic. Modern and hip. Whatever you wanna call it, the vibe is there. The patio is AMAZING and won me over. I have made friends with most bartenders already(lol) and will definitely be a regular here. I found my Oak Park fave. See you next week, Maya. Cheers!

OMG, I love this place. I’m surprised I haven’t written a review sooner! I don’t have anything bad to say about this place. I have been here 4x now and enjoyed each meal. My most recent and favorite was the brunch. I got the huevos rancheros. OMG, my mouth is watering right now just writing about it! It was perfect! They used tostadas with a fried egg on top with black beans, avocado, and this out of this world sauce! I have to say I’m already planning on going back this Sunday after I just had brunch this past Sunday! I’m mad I forgot to take a pic, it just looked so delicious, I dug in. But, I will be back to show you this masterpiece! The mimosas were great too, very bubbly and refreshing to go with the meal(they make them strong too!!). The best thing I like about brunch are the multiple $ 10 entrée’s and $ 5 mimosas or sangria’s. Lot’s of things I’m excited to try such as: outdoor dining — heard it’s really nice. Sopes made with tinga! I really can’t wait to try that!!! Something called a Yule Log Cake with pecans — looks like a Ho Ho on the outside! LOL(but, I think it’s limited time only!) One word of advice, don’t change a thing!
