Laurys Bakery & Cake

One of the black ladies that answer the phone is ignorant as hell I swear they need to NOT have her on call duty at all she is very very rude and I will be reporting her.

I ordered a cake last week for parents birthday (yes, my parents were born on the same say, how cool is that!) Anyway, I placed an order for their favorite cake, yellow with fresh strawberries. It was beautiful and all of the guests at their gathering loved it! I will be ordering again next year!

Went by today to treat myself to a slice of cake for my birthday. I bought a slice of the strawberry pineapple cake, a slice of pizza and one of their famous caramel cupcakes. The only thing that was edible was the cupcake. IT was delicious. As for the slice of cake, it looked beautiful but the first bite was terrible. It tasted moldy although I couldn’t see any visible spores. The slice of pizza tasted like it might have been leftover from yesterday (or maybe even the day before). I felt like I was trying to bite through a piece of leather. I’d rather not throw my money away again. If you should happen to want to try the cake slices, do yourself a favor and ask when they were made (and nevermind their attitude about your question).

Just knocked them down to 2 stars today. I had a sweet tooth and was close by so I decided to give them another try. I always liked their sweets. Today I got the peach cobbler. Under the glass it looked good, but when I got home… A different story. The cobbler looked old and dark. When I tasted it, it tasted like they screwed up the recipe so they made up for it by drowning it with cinnamon. I will never get that again. It tastes more like it should be an apple pie than peach cobbler.

We have been going here for several years but tried the caramel cupcakes for the first time. OMG, I am hooked on these cupcakes. The caramel topping is just the right sweetness. The pound cake is delish as well as the mousse cakes and regular cake sold by slice. Oh, and don’t forget to try their pizza by slice. This is also where we order birthday cakes for several years as well. We are moving out the community but would still go out of my way to visit this place.

Caramel cupcakes made me get more. I just couldn’t help it. Tasty treats at prices that can’t be beat. If you have a sweet tooth and you’re on this side of town. Stop by, you won’t regret it!

It’s been years since I’ve had their cake, and decided to stop by last week for a birthday cake order. I had a particular cake in mind, and when I showed them a pic, I was told, «No, absolutely not… it’s too much work,»…Uhhmm, Aren’t you a bakery?
So, I left and went to Cake Bros., where one of the brothers offered suggestions on recreating the cake, as opposed to saying, «No,» without offering suggestions and losing a GREAT customer… and the cake was DELISH!

A group of us went to Laurys to get some treats. We got a large selection of items and NONE of them were edible. We got carrot cake, cheesecake, cookies, banana pudding, and caramel cupcakes. The flavors were off, texture not good, overall completely unappealing. Even for a lower price, it wouldn’t have been worth it. $ 15 worth of desserts ended up in a trash can. Absolutely will not return. Two thumbs down!

Very friendly staff! The cake tasted good, but a bit too sweet for our liking. There was SO MUCH frosting and that made it really sweet. If you really like sweet cakes you’ll love it. This was a birthday cake for my fiancé. The design looks pretty. We loved the banana custard as filling. That was tasty but the frosting was just a bit too much cream! I would go back again though.

This place is right around the block from where I live… DANGEROUS!
Oh it’s so so so so good… especially their lemon cakes. The place is small, nothing fancy. But the staff is great. I hope I don’t get anyone in trouble but they are so great in fact that they’ve even slipped me some extra stuff every now and again. They really are awesome. I love them all.
They even have pizza slices and egg and bacon sandwiches… all yummy.
This place is definitely bad for you though if you’re on a diet. LOL
But, this is as good as it gets!

Awesome caramel cupcakes!

As a kid … like 4 & up. I would get these carousel cakes or circus cakes for my birthdays. Me and my mom would stand at this bus stop and she would always get me a brownie or cookie or something from here. It was good then and they are STILL good now !
And when I had my kid we got her cakes from there too.
As well as the baby shower cakes and birthday cakes they do other good desserts too. The cakes with fillings such as strawberry or even pineapple are really good. I’ve even seen them make a carnation pink and yellow cake in the shape of an umbrella with filling for a baby shower it was unforgettable
This is a hood classic and I love the products they put out… always will–

This place PISSED ME OFF this weekend! I preordered a b-​day cake on Tuesday for pick up on Saturday. I get there and the cake was white instead of pink! It didn’t even have the strawberries inside either! They had the audacity to offer me $ 3 back! I was like, «what the hell is $ 3 off a cake that I didn’t even order!» The baker already left so they had to call him to come back and fix it. I told them forget it and just give me my money back. They kept trying to fix my cake, but I was so mad cuz they should’ve had it done the first time! I usually like this place, but they made me so mad cuz I can’t believe how bad they screwed up! I’m not sure if I’ll order a cake from them again, but I’ll still get some treats here and there.

I bought a full sheet butter crème cake from here yesterday and it came out excellent. This bakery makes cakes for baby showers, receptions, birthdays, holidays, stripper parties, you name it– there’s a good chance that they’ll make if for that special occasion. Laury’s also make personal cakes, pies, cookies, etc. For specialty cakes you must order 3 days in advanced and put a 50% down payment. Beware that there is usually a line, but it moves pretty fast.
