Very disappointing… I have had better at chains like Applebee’s, Texas Roadhouse… I have been to The Mansion several times under its previous owners. So when I went last night for a date with my wife I had a certain level of expectation that comes with eating a $ 40 steak dinner. We started with crab cakes which were way too fishy tasting for the price point and they are the consistency of cat food patè accompanied by over cook garlic cloves and over cooked capers… Not a good start. My wife loves the $ 40 fillet from here usually and when she ask for her fillet to be a medium+ and the mashed potatoes… Her fillet was very rare and the potatoes were cold outside and hot inside, so they probably sat a long time and after the first bite the heat left the middle and they were cold. But not worth asking for replacement because it was like having a glob of chewy paste in your mouth. I ordered the pork with veggies… The pork wasn’t cooked all the way and I was told that is how they serve it. I found it odd that I wasn’t given the option of when ordering. The sauce was ok but barely there and the«rub» was about the only flavor for the whole $ 30 cut of meet. The squash and zucchini was a slimy mess, WAY over cooked. The worst part is I didn’t waste my own money but the people who gave me the gift card for my birthday. I feel very bad and will probably offer to pay them back. Needless to say I won’t be back for a dinner maybe the drinks and desserts that’s about it… Who can screw that’s up? I will keep you posted.

While in the area, I found The Mansion — Lucky me. I was drawn first, to the historical interest of this property, and the ambiance. If the food was good, then I was happy. Beyond that I decided this is where we were going to be married, and there was no looking back. From the time I contacted Kathy — the owner til I arrived in town, it was EASY ! I had contacted her out of state, and was able to make my arrangements by speaking with her, and sending emails back and forth. The small intimate wedding(my now, husband and myself) was beautiful. It was warm, welcoming, and the staff was outstanding ! Andrea our waiter could not do enough for us, he was 10STARS. THANKYOUSOMUCHFORMAKINGOUREVENTUNFORGETABLE !. PS — THEFOOD — GREAT !!

I have been to The Manion 4 or 5 times now it’s not the same ownership and not the same level of service that it used to be. Last night for the second year in a row I took my sale team and their spouses(15) to dinner here and the service was terrible apps salads and dinner all came out at different times for each of our guests some finished theirs before others even got their course. Two of our guests had cold steaks, but took over an hour to get them they didn’t want to send them back. Finally dessert comes and ditto same thing half got their last others waited. Cheesecake was served still frozen. Highly disappointed.

What an experience! We enjoyed every aspect of our trip to The Mansion. We started off with drinks at the bar, John made an amazing drink called the Mansion Sweet Tea which I highly reccomend. Next, we were brought to our table near a beautiful fireplace, and given a brief history of the Mansion and the room we were in. John was very knowledgeable about the history of the house and it made a wonderful start to dinner. After that, our server Jason took our appetizer orders while we looked over the menue. The food was excellent. There were six of us at our table, and everything we ordered was amazing. For appetizers had crab cakes, spinich artichoke dip, and the cheese curds. All of them were great, but the crab cakes really stood out to me. For dinner I had the lamb with red potatoes, and it was cooked perfectly. Two members of our party had steaks and they were also perfectly executed. The Parmesean sauce that was an option with the Steak was delicious as well. Our server was very attentive and personable, we never had to wait for drinks, our food was served in a timely mannor and we loved everything. I highly recommend this place to anyone and can’t wait to come back!

Really enjoy dinner here. The staff has always been friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. I have never had the steak, but the lamb, duck, and fish have all been wonderful. Scallops appetizer is very good as well. Love the setting too. Wonderful old house and the grounds are so peaceful.

I’m somewhere between 3 — 4 stars on this one. The setting(in an historic 1857 mansion) is the actual highlight of the experience. The food was good, but not great and for the price, I don’t feel the value was there. We started with the crabcakes and were pleased with the presentation, the portion size and quality. My husband had the 16 oz. bone-in filet mignon($ 60), while my daughter had the 8 oz. filet($ 35) and I opted for the 10 oz. sirloin with blue cheese crust($ 30 + $ 2). All entrees were cooked to our specifications and enjoyable. The sides were a la carte and included mashed potatoes and fries. The menu states that the first bread service is complimentary and each subsequent loaf is $ 1.50. We never received our bread service, perhaps because we ordered an appetizer? By the time we realized we weren’t receiving any bread, our entrees had arrived. My daughter requested A-1 sauce and our server informed her that they didn’t carry A-1 sauce but had a similar sauce that he could bring her. He neglected to inform us that it was a Diane sauce at an additional $ 4! While the meal was enjoyable, I left feeling that we were being nickel and dimed. We enjoy eating at Flemings and Ruth Chris’s, which offer a similar a la carte experience, but for some reason I just didn’t feel The Mansion was comparable.

28 oz Porterhouse Oscar style: steak smothered in Béarnaise sauce, Maryland crab cake, and asparagus. Very tasty mashed potatoes but they were a bit too salty. The pork belly small plate is so good it should be turned into a full meal. In addition to top tier food, the building is magnificent too. Picturesque historical home converted into a high end steakhouse. Be sure to talk to your server about the house history and ghost sightings! Fun stuff. Definitely the top steakhouse in Southern IL… If you like scrumptious desserts, don’t pass up the chocolate bread pudding.

Food is pretty good(although my Au Poivre sauce wasn’t entirely hot), descent wine list and the environment and ambiance is rather unique. However, this place is very, very overpriced for the quality of food. Steak is not advertised as USDA Prime, which I would expect at this price point, and it fails to even approach the quality of similarly priced steakhouses(801, Aundria’s, Ruth’s Chris, etc.). Last time I went, the new owner stopped at every table in the room to speak to the patrons, but did not speak with us, not sure what that was about honestly. The service was also sub-par. Our waitress was nice, but highly inattentive(drinks sat empty multiple times, and we waited quite a while for the bill and for her to take payment), which is unacceptable at a place like this. That aside, at 1⁄3 or or maybe even ½ the price I might return to this place, but I will not be back as things stand now. Would not recommend this place since the ownership change. Plenty of other places that are much better for the same or less money.

This restaurant is under new ownership. I can’t say anything about their dinners but don’t waste your time or money for lunch. I ordered a Turkey Club and sweet potato fries. The club was a sandwich cut in half… not a club. They had to go to the grocery store to get the sweet potato fries. The dessert was Strawberry Shortcake Who ever heard of frozen strawberries put in the microwave for their shortcake? Plus they charged $ 7 for it. With tip, Iunch was not worth over $ 24. Could have gotten a better sandwich at Denny’s.

So this is my second visit to the mansion and my first under the new owner — it’s not the same. Service was great, same great old house from the 1850’s, but the food was just not that great. I ordered the Steak Ala Mama and my wife ordered the Seafood Pasta Ala Mama. My steak was significantly overcooked, super salty, and just not that great of a cut of meat. I was very disappointed for a $ 40 steak. We had the Seafood Pasta last time and this time the salt fairy was definitely in town — I couldn’t eat a small bite of the wife’s dish without needing a drink of water. Now we didn’t bring this up with management as we were with friends and didn’t want to ruin our good evening but I would not return, this was just a very disappointing meal.

Uuugh I’ve been thinking about this one for a while and just came across my receipt while doing work expenses. CANTWRITETHISONEOFF :( I’m a sucker for old historic buildings, and this one is really cool. Kindve weird how it’s tucked behind a little strip if businesses… Anyway, tons and tons of potential but on our night they fell short. I KNOW new employees have to learn somewhere — I’ve worked in restaurants too — and I’m fine with having trainees take care of my table. What I don’t want, and what happened during my entire $XXX.xx dinner, was a freaking loud A-Z rundown of every minute detail by a peppy(LOUD) waitress to her trainee. The place is already loud enough with the hardwood floors echoing. It was really too much, and something they should’ve realized was happening. Every table, every movement, every offering and on and on and on… The food was good. Portions good. Wine a little over priced but tolerable. Tables comfortable. Experience because of all the excessive interaction with wait staff, disappointing. I felt like we should’ve received 50% off due to the training sessions we became a part of.

I threw an 80th Birthday party for my mother on September 28th at The Mansion. I spent $ 6000 dollars and invited 75 guests. I just got off the phone with the new owner asking if he was going to honor the $ 125 gift card that my mother received as a gift. He told me that he was not! This is ABSOLUTELYDEPLORABLE. I’m so glad The Mansion exists. When I first moved to OFallon, I was pretty disappointed with how few non-chain dining options there are. The Mansion is not on a main road and I would have never driven past it if my husband didn’t know it was there. Every time we have been there for dinner, we leave full and happy. I’ve never had anything to eat that wasn’t delicious. It is never crowded or loud. Great for a date night or special occasion.

I was there again last week and the swordfish and salmon were killer delicious then the bread pudding was to die for. I am craving both just thinking about them. By far the best restaurant in the area the service was first rate.

Great food, I had the lamb lollypop, as an appetizer, the meat was fresh and tender. For dinner I had the duck Al’orange with vegetables, the skin was crisp, cooked to perfection. The duck meat was organic, farm grown. During dinner I had the pleasure of meeting the chef that cooked the duck for me and the bar tender offered me a new type of gin to try. I am definitely recommending this place if you are visiting O’Fallen, IL.

Excellent service, very VERY good food. I had the special which was a tenderloin served over a cream sauce that was amazing. Took my Mom who raved about the watermelon(gross) salad. The wine list is respectable, only a few sub-10 dollar house selections but a good assortment. Nice range of apps as well. Location is just cool, an old house with rooms you sit in. Our room consisted of only two 4-tops which was pretty cool, definitely would have preferred the company of a younger lady but they didn’t know when I made reservations! It is pricey though, a bit on the high side IMO but ingredients all seem very fresh so I’m sure op. cost is high for them. A great bday/anniversary stop for sure, will always impress and drain the wallet at the same time.

Paulos is pretty good. I loved the stuffed artichokes. I literally ate two plates of them. Yes, I know that was only 6 total pieces of artichoke. This place is pretty pricey, but the service is top notch. I wish they had a few more selections of wine by the glass. It’s practically across the street from my work so I will be here many times. Make sure and try the Italian Margarita. It has amaretto. Yum!
