** $ 10CREDITCARDMINIMUM ** As others have said, this place is just«ok» but seeing as this sushi spot is in very close proximity to where I work, I’m also«ok» with settling for this place. In the Rock Center, this is probably one of the least busy restaurants out of the many that you can choose from. The people who work there are kind and can take your order immediately since I’ve never came when it was busy. People usually do not stay and eat, instead we all do take out. They have pre-made sushi at the counter which are more on the pricey side from what I have seen. Their menu is mediocre with a range from curry rice dishes, to noodles, to salads. Both times that I’ve been here were for take out. 1. Their soba is horrible! This is what I got the first time and hated it. It is tasteless, please do not get this and save yourself the money! Their salmon roll(which I had to buy to meet the $ 10 credit card minimum) was okay. doesn’t really taste like anything but they give you like 6 pc which isn’t bad. 2. The second time I came I decided to get a shrimp tempura udon because I was craving it and didn’t want to walk all the way to Udon West. The noodles are still chewy, and the flavor is alright as well. For $ 10, I think that this is worth it. My biggest problem is that they pack the tempura together with the soup and when I walk back to my office(within 10 minutes of this restaurant), it is already all soft and soggy! Poor packaging :(

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the name of this place is a total misnomer. The sushi was not«yummy» at all, in fact I’d say that it was the opposite. I bought two basic rolls(tuna and California). The California roll was serviceable but nothing to write home about. The tuna roll was nasty. I knew I had made a mistake as soon as I popped one into my mouth. I’m seriously regretting not spitting it out right away. The fish was not fresh and had taken on a light pink color. I did not finish the other 5 rolls in the pack and would not be surprised if I gave myself food poisoning. You can find much better sushi at dozens of other restaurants in the area.

This is a go-to sushi spot of you’re looking to grab quick sushi takeout in midtown! Everything is pretty good and the portions are generous. I’ve tried several of the rolls — most are very American with lots of crab and avocado, but they all hit the spot. Yes the prices are very high but it’s midtown lunch so it’s what you’d expect. If you work in the area and go after 6pm you get a 25% discount. After 7pm you get a 50% discount! This is definitely the way to go. Avoid paying full price!

Sushi is all pre-made and tastes OK or below average considering the price. A bottle of Ito En green tea is $ 3 something(I think almost $ 4), which is unreasonable, even in Manhattan. I had the unagi udon noodles and a can of green tea — also about $ 20. The place has two or three seats and those seats are taken ASAP just before or during lunch time. Wouldn’t return again, unless all other eating venues at Rockefeller were closed.

I was rather a fan of Yummy Sushi in the Rockefeller concourse. First, it is operated by truly Japanese staff. It is authentic! They even sell imported products. And they are very polite. Second, it’s fresh. The price is ok, the place is small but anyway, you are here to grab takeaway food on your way to what’s next. I am taking one star off because they started to ask for the Rockefeller card to get the late afternoon discount. Too bad. I used to go there approximately once a week and would definitely recommend!

Rip off. Literally no difference between this and Duane Reade sushi. But at least Duane Reade sushi is creative and properly rolled. There were few options to choose from. Your basic california, philadelphia and shrimp tempura rolls. Most of which appeared to be undone. Everything is prepackaged and the many employees behind the counter just hand you one. They are very expensive for what they are worth. $ 14.50 for 6 pieces of sushi and a few sashimi.(Which were fishy and inedible). Not worth it. Seriously, Duane Reade is better.

The sushi is decent and the price is a little high, but I like this place for the service. The guys behind the counter are extremely nice and personable and I continue to go to get a friendly hello.

More like 2.5 stars. If your item is not pre-made, be prepared to wait. Had the chicken katsu curry rice. It was fine, not memorable. This place has been here forever. The most memorable part of the entire experience was watching an intern from the Jimmy Fallon Show ordering 4 things and paying with 4 different credit cards. It was like $ 7 per card. I guess Jimmy’s not treating for lunch every day… can’t a senior writer or someone pick up the tab? Also, I wish I HAD an intern to get lunch for me. Don’t feel the need to go back. If you’re in the area and are looking for lunch, I’d recommend finding Hatsuhana.

I started this review in June 2013, but never posted. This place is still around and the following opinions are still accurate… I would like to start with the good: The people at yummy sushi are friendly, fast, and efficient. Ok that was quick. I will preface my following negative criticisms with the acknowledgement of where, exactly I am. Yes I know, I know. There are many things wrong with this place. I don’t mind paying for good(or even decent) food, so it’s not the prices that irk me so much. The single most problem I have with the place is that they do not offer fresh wasabi or ginger with their rolls. They don’t even have any fresh wasabi on premises as far as I can tell and if you want fresh ginger you gotta pay $ 3 for a large sized ramekin of it. Waaaay too much for any one person to eat in one sitting. Even an avid ginger lover such as myself. I was so pissed that they didn’t serve fresh ginger the last time I went that I left without ordering. However I found myself led back here due the lack of healthy and quick options in the concourse and my craving for sushi is something fierce at times. So I caved. I also caved and bought the ball of fresh ginger only to realize it is somehow less fresh and natural than what the little packages contain. Go figure. I’m plotting ways to get around this whole mess… heck bring my own ramekin of fresh ginger from home? Might as well pack a lunch then. Hmmmm Try Iroha on 49th if you have a little extra time

Yummy Sushi is what it is — A decent sushi spot located in one of the busiest and(unfortunately) most touristy places in NYC. When I used to intern in this building I would frequent Yummy Sushi for one of their Bento Box lunches(forget which one) but it was a decent amount of sushi, rice, tempura, shumai, all accompanied with soup/salad. I remember the service being friendly enough. This is a good place, as many others have stated, to grab a quick bite. Don’t expect Nobu quality from this tiny stop&go place, but you won’t be terribly disappointed either. Yummy sushi is definitely A-OK.

Yummy Sushi is not so yummy but not that bad at all hence the so so review. I had the Philadelphia, Grilled Spicy Tuna and shared the California Roll with a colleague. Great customer service with very pleasant employees so that type of friendliness would keep me coming back if I did not have such strong tastes buds. But since I do have strong taste buds and like good sushi, I would rather give Yummy sushi credit where credit is due: Customer Service and pass on buying Sushi here again.

Looks pretty tasty and yummy. But seriously. How can the soup be so salty and very disappointed.

This place is mediocre sushi at best, sold at a premium price. Truly a place for tourists and people who call california rolls«sushi.» Never again.

It was around lunchtime when I passed by here, and I was craving sushi so I decided to give this place a try. I can’t say that I fully regret coming here, but the next time I go to Rockefeller Plaza to eat, I will consider my other choices first, and if I make my decision to come here, I’ll definitely order TAKEOUT. The woman who worked here was plain annoying. She wouldn’t let you just quietly decide, instead she was active in trying to show you EVERYTHING they had to offer. They might as well just take down all of the menus they have and let her do become the menu. I came in just wanting some sushi in the box, and she redirected me to the huge menu on the wall that displayed their bento lunch boxes and whatnot. When I turned away from that menu, she was behind the sushi bar trying to show me what they had for sale. When I finally chose what I wanted, she tried to persuade me into buying the bento boxes instead, touting that it came with«free miso soup». I just said I will take the sushi and pay for the miso soup. The sushi itself was okay. However one of the pieces had a badly cut salmon, which was inedible because they included the part where I couldn’t chew through it. I was pretty disappointed with that. The miso soup was just a waste of money. Half of the whole thing was made up of seaweed, and about 5% tofu. I eventually just took a spoon and dug out all the seaweed, hoping to find at least SOME tofu in there, which was just a failure because I only found a small piece or two. I threw that away. If I ever somehow let myself be talked into buying that again, I will definitely request them to put less seaweed, and more tofu. We decided to sit down to eat for this disappointing meal. What a huge mistake. I didn’t think this store had much customers since it was pretty empty when I arrived. Apparently, people do come in and go quite often. Which meant I had to listen to the woman going ONANDON about what they had on the menu, trying to tell the customers the obvious. Eventually, I got tired of hearing her voice and pretty frustrated at how she ran the business. I quickly ate and left. My experience at this place was clearly not the best. I will only be coming here for takeout, and definitely not ordering the miso soup which I can make for myself at home, and better at that. If I ever get fish that cannot even be chewed through again, I will make sure to complain to them and even consider just never coming here again.

A mediocre, bland place for people who appreciate mediocre, bland food. I ordered one of the seafood bento boxes. For the overpriced sum of $ 15, I got old, discolored salmon teriyaki, fried shrimp, standard salad and six nickel-sized salmon rolls. The wasabi came out of a packet and was so unfresh that it was grey in color, rather than a vibrant green. And the chopsticks were of such quality as to give me multiple splinters. I’m not sure what it is about Rockefeller Center that makes the restaurants around there sub par. But building management really needs to do something about it… Pret a Manger seems to be the only place around with great food and great service.

Late in my review… Yes, we were here in December 2010. Better late than never :) Great little joint in 30 Rock. We needed a little drinkie drink to hydrate and found this shop. Got a great little bottle of Japanese Carrot/Veggie juice. Just the right amount of calories and hydration for a quick pick me up.

This is actually one of my very regular stops for Friday lunch. I keep a mailstop for my business in Rockefeller Center, so I find myself up here most Friday afternoons. Yummy Sushi has all the regular sushi combinations, plus kaisou(seeweed) salad, and edamame. Perfect warmup for the weekend!

Pricey sushi, tourist trap. Depending what you order they make it right there so you know its fresh. They are very friendly. Mainly I come here because I work nearby and I can walk underground in the concourse, and when I don’t feel like getting sushi from Duke.

Located underground near the Rockefeller center has it’s pros if you work in the area but the prices are ‘expensive’ for the quality you get. You look through the glass display cases and pick the pre-packaged sushi boxes you want and/or can request your own rolls and lunch boxes. I paid approx. $ 10 – 12 for two so-so rolls — salmon avocado and spicy salmon. I only come here often because it’s so close to my office…

This place is way overpriced for pre-made sushi! And can someone explain why the poor sushi chef is in the corner window dying of heat & exhaustion making warm sushi? I used to get sushi here because I was new to the area, but now I’ve gone«out of the box» and gone across the street to Taki Sushi where the prices are lower and you get more for your buck! Most importantly the sushi & food tastes better!
