Cash only, made me go to the atm to take out cash then gave me the wrong order(only half of which was decent– the sausage empanada)

I was walking down the street craving a flaky pastry. Stumbled upon this hole in the wall. Aha! Flaky pastries! $ 2 each, cash only. Got myself a cinnamon twist and a chocolate twist. The former was divine; the latter was not bad but not as heavenly as the cinnamon twist. Guy behind the counter was nice. Voilà: flaky pastry craving fully satisfied.

I went their about 2 years ago and never went back, even though I walk in front of it everyday. The lady serving me was not attentive at all and it seemed like she did not want to be there. I am a coffee lover but their coffee wasn’t that great, which made me not go back their, and that is also my friends opinion who went their with me. I see that they have some decent reviews so maybe it was just that one day where they messed up.

50 cents for hot water. Unbelievable. Well, that’s what I get for the upper east side.

The Spicy Chicken Empanada is delicious! Their coffee is just alright. In case anyone cared, I once asked one of the workers how much they pay for their rent. I know, totally inappropriate. But hold onto your seats ladies & gents, this hole in the wall pays more than $ 6K for their rent. I will continue to support local coffee shops. Starbucks, shoo shoo.

This tiny hole in the wall offers the Best chai latte I’ve ever had, it’s heavenly! Solid smoothie options, empanadas and baked goods as well. I have yet to try any of their hot drinks besides the chai but I have no urge to!

I love this place. It’s a cute coffee shop and is decently priced. The Java Chip Blended Ice Coffee is just sinful. Ask for whipped cream and it’s served with a heavenly chocolate sauce. Pistachio biscottis are great too!

This place is a gem. I’ve tried every empanada except the pork and they hit the spot every damn time. The spicy chicken empanada is my favorite so far, just enough kick and lots of chicken to get you through the day. And YOUHAVE to try the Raspberry Cappuccino, that is my crack. Venture here for your coffee needs, skip the Starbucks folks, you dont know what you’re missing!

Very small place. Also simple and basic, not necessary in the best sense of the term. Had the cinnamon sticks which were still warm and had a lovely half baked taste. Was surprised at the high ratings here but have a distinct feeling that I’m missing something.

One of my favorite coffee places near Hunter. Totally a tiny hole in the wall place but so good. I love that their coffee is served with steamed milk, that way I am not walking out with Luke warm coffee the minute I put milk in it. Their empanadas are delicious. Spicy chicken and beef are two of my favorites. I know they serve soup as well and people get it a lot but I have yet to try it. Decent prices too and discount with a student ID!

Spiced chai latte for 3.50? It can’t be beat. The drink was soo delicious as it was smooth because of the frothed milk. Would definitely come back for chai lattes. Yum yum.

Coffee was fine. Not a big fan of «fine», but my large cup was $ 3, so fine works. No «fixing» station to speak of. Only a small area to add sugar. They put the cream in for you and steam it. I prefer to measure out my own cream. If you don’t, then whatever. Will take reasonable steps to never return, but won’t refuse the $ 3 joe if I find myself back there one day.

Holy. Balls. I ordered a soy chai and it was amazing. Seriously amazing. It was Christmas in my mouth. I’ve been thinking about it all damn day. I deducted a star because the croissant was dry as a fucking desert. But that chai… sweet Jesus.

Not impressed. Got their $ 7.95 smoothie + empanada deal: — Mango smoothie($ 4.50 solo): With only three ingredients(mango, milk, and vanilla yogurt), how can you mess up, right? WRONG. They might as well just call this a chunky yogurt drink, because there was no smoothness to this smoothie! Serious lack of mango flavor as well. — Spicy chicken empanada($ 3.95 solo): Not like any empanada I’ve ever had, and not in a good way. This is a DOUGHY(non-fried) pastry that’s overly thick and bland filled with very meh chicken filling. They do have a bench outside that would have been cute if it weren’t for the GRIMY cushion. Cash only.

This unique little café may be short on space but it offers a vast selection of international delights! They have everything from 5 different kinds of soups(ie. Vegetable lentil, chicken noodle soup, clam chowder, chili), served with fabulous rolls. People come here for the empanadas and I have yet to try them! I hear they are somewhat spicy and that the chicken is the most popular. They have about 10 different kinds of muffins. The food ranges from Argentinian, Italian to Colombian, etc. great coffee too. This tiny little spot has only three bar stools and a window seat so you won’t be bringing your luncheon club here but this is a great stop-off for a quick lunch or grab and go! l when I was in there, I noticed that they had a ton of regular customers. That’s always a good sign!

WHO doesn’t love a good empanda? I LOVELOVELOVE that this place is so close to Hunter. I dont like coming here too often or else i’d gain 10 lbs but otherwise this is the place to go when i’m craving a treat between classes. Their chai latte really is amazing, not too sweet and just the right amount of spice. Try their spicy chicken empanda to go with any of their awesome coffee drinks. P. S.This place is a total hole in the wall, i mean literally its like size of your grandma’s food pantry. If you dont look for it you’ll walk right past it(or run past it, we are newyorkers afterall)

This place is unassuming. You will definitely miss it if you are not paying attention. I would stop in before Spanish class to get some dinner. Never mind that the counter is so high that you can’t see the tiny lady working behind it. You really have to stand on your tippy toes to see behind the counter. The design is just mad weird. But thats OK. Because, they make some mean EMPANADAS. They have beef ones, chicken and also a veggie one. All really good and filling… I will be back as a regular when my Spanish classes start up again…

I work at the best hospital in New York City. SURELY they have discovered a viable way to replace my blood with World Cup Café’s chai. It can’t be THAT hard. Jeez.
