Allow me to introduce to you, the fair people of NYC, a classic out of the way, salt of the Earth Coffee Shop! Now, it get’s complicated, like a General Hospital plot line so pay attention: — It’s called the Wolf’s Bay on their website –The sign in front of the diner says P. S Coffee Shop and Restaurant — There is NO mention of Wolf’s Bay on the store front and there are no wolves on premises(go figure) That’s what makes this place so AWESOME! It’s so out of the way that there is no way to find it but it’s always busy. It’s like trying to piece together the clues in a Dan Brown novel! I love this place. Why? the food is average to good but what makes it are the people who work there and the speed of service and the price. Let me paint the picture here; The booths are beaten down but oh so comfortable, the floors are busted up in the corners but clean, the waitstaff are old school diner people(median age 55) and the atmosphere is brimming with chatter from the counter to the booths and all of it is perky and upbeat. All that’s missing from here is the old style cigarette machine and a hurt jukebox with Richie Valens as the NEW release. The burger platter is by far the best with the tuna or open faced turkey right on it’s heals. But the true test is the coleslaw and it passes. My meter for any joint like this is, ‘if the homemade coleslaw is good, the food will be just fine!‘ So, friends I recommend this hideaway as the perfect spot for; — «I wanna read my book in peace on my lunch hour» — That secret rendezvous for that person you met on Craigslist Casual Encounters — The«dude, I know the perfect place to grab a bite» when your in the mood for old school diner/coffee shop Perhaps I’ll see you there… And So it Goes.
