Vin Sur Vingt has a simple menu with the usual dishes you’d find at a French café. The food could be a little better. We came for a late lunch and ordered… $ 16 Croque Madame — Black forest ham, gruyère, garlic parmesan bechamel: The sandwich was okay, but not the best croque madame I’ve ever had. The egg and sandwich were cooked separately, so the fried egg didn’t steak to the sandwich. The bread was a little bit hard. A Croque Monsieur is $ 14 without an egg. $ 9 Pâté de Campagne — housemade duck pâté with toast and pickles: The flavor was okay. The pâté actually very dry. At first glance, I almost mistook it for toast. $ 18 Steak Tartare au Couteau — grass fed tenderloin, capers, cornichons, eggs, onions: The steak was pretty good. The flavor was a little more tart than other steak tartare dishes I’ve had in the past. Maybe there are just more capers than I am used to. The dishes we tried were okay, but not great. I’ve definitely had better croque, pâté, tartare elsewhere. It’s a nice option if you want to try something different from the usual options at the food halls.

The food was pretty good, but the service was by far the worst I’ve had. We waited over an hour for a cheese plate. The wait staff seemed to have no idea that we were there. No refills on water. At one point, the waiter stood behind the bar texting, still had no idea that our glasses were empty and we had long since finished our food.

Vin Sur Vingt is a fun option in the Plaza food court. It was pretty busy when we were there late one afternoon this month; we were fortunate to get space at the bar. Next to no sweet wines offered, but I know I’m in the unrefined minority in my preference of sweet wine. Instead I ordered the Brezeme white($ 14/glass), which was a little dry for my liking. We also shared a platter of three cheeses, though I forget what they were.

service: 1 out of 10 food: 6,5 out of 10 overall experience: 2⁄10 Came at this place saturday at 1.20pm. We ordered a Caesar salad, onion soup and grilled cheeze. At 2.10pm we were still waiting and no one did have the courtesy that they were sorry for the waiting. We were about to leave when the waitress told us: «its coming in one minute, if your are in hurry I can print you the bill». We finally got our plate without any apologize. the food was good but waiting 40 minutes for a grilled cheeze a soup and a salad made the overall experience bad. Showing a simple bit of empathy from our waitress would have changed it all. Service was so bad it ruined the food experience, I do not recommend this place.

Vin Sur Vingt is a low-key wine bar in the Plaza Food Hall with Great wine selection and hit-or-miss food. I was running errands in on the East side, and realized I needed to meet my partner for dinner. We opted for the Plaza hotel. So many options! I was undecided between Vin Sur Vingt and the pasta option. Kwai told me he had a good gut feeling about Vin Sur Vingt. Good Choice honey! The escargot was buttery, garlicky and delicious! The Cote du Rhone was perfect with dinner! Rich, and mineral laden, it tasted of a richly grown grape. I also enjoyed the organic Vacquerays, but not as much as the Cote du Rhone. The Charcuterie was ok. We ordered the garlic sausage, pork sausage, homemade chicken liver mousse, country ham with pickles and pâté with champagne. Most tasted like cold cut meats and dried pâté except the pâté de champagne. The pâté champagne was slightly sweet, and had whole peppercorns in it. Very palatable and great with the wine and bread. And the French Onion soup was quite good. The last spoonful was a bit salty but otherwise, very good.

I wanted to hate the Plaza Food Hall for some reason but alas could not. After wandering around the various restaurants, I settled on eating at Vin Sur Vingt. They are all high tables for the most part and a large bar. I am partial to French food.(Shout out to Shari B. for expanding my palette) I started with the foie appetizer which came with crostinis, mustard and pickles. It was great. I followed this with the smoked salmon panini which was served with crème fraîche. It was delicious as well. I drank a glass of bordeaux during the meal which was also rather good. The meal was quick and the service also good. I would definitely come back here again. My only critique would be it is a bit on the pricey side as the sandwich was $ 18. That said, it is in the Plaza Hotel basement, so what would one expect.

Surprisingly uncrowded place for a good sit-down lunch in Midtown. Sandwiches and wine are good(I love the BLT) but a bit on the pricier side. I come here about once a week and have always tipped 20% or more. Today I accidentally did the math wrong and tipped just below 15%. Rather than asking whether I had a bad experience, the bartender stopped in front of me and double-circled the«suggested tip» amount on the receipt(which starts at 18%). I added additional tip, because it genuinely was a mistake on my part, but her extremely rude way of handling the situation has left a bad taste in my mouth for this place. They obviously expect a rotating tourist crowd and don’t care about cultivating regulars.

My wife was meeting her friends for lunch, so I stumbled upon Vin Sur Vingt and thought the long bar would be a good place to enjoy a slow lunch while I waited. Excellent choice. The staff was prompt and helpful with the wine… I had a very nice Chateauneuf du pape. I love a good steak tartare, but usually it is not made in NYC the way you find it in a small in France, I took a chance and it was excellent. It comes with a salad which is well matched to the steak, not with toast. I also ordered the spinach salad expecting a shallow bowl, but was rewarded with a deep bowl of greens with vegetable topping with what I found the perfect amount of oil. Delicious. As I am waiting for my wife to complete here lunch with the girls I will finish my wine… slowly.

The place has all the ingredients needed for a bad experience. Tasteless overpriced food, mediocre wines and work staff with an attitude that makes Donald trump look humble. We were a group of friends who ordered food as its a self service setup at the food court. At the end of the meal, the lady at the counter handed us a bill with a 20% gratuity. We were a large party but self service restaurants rarely do mandatory tips. But the worst part of it all was she calculated the tip on the food cost as well as the tax. So when I asked why she calculated a 20% service charge on the post tax amount, she got all annoyed and said«if you don’t want to pay a tip, just say it». I don’t have a problem with paying a tip but how much to be paid is discretionary, it’s paid on food costs, it is for services rendered and humility goes a long way. I said well, I know it should be pre– tax and she said she wasn’t sure if we were from around here and would know the tipping structure so she did that for our convenience! Hah, awful comeback. In the end she slammed the bill at us and said don’t come back here again. Nice job! We really won’t even if you offered free food!

No waitresses, had to use the bar. Place was empty when everywhere else was packed with no seating(hence this pick). BUT food was pretty good albeit pricey … Served its purpose … I will say good just not great.

Great addition to the Plaza Food Hall. Came here with a large group from lunch and they allowed us to order and pay separately. Some food came out quicker than others, but it was delicious none-the-less. Service was also wonderful. I had the Croque Monsieur — black forest ham, gruyère, garlic parmesan béchamel. The béchamel really drew me in to get it. THe roast beef sandwich also looked really good on the baguette that my friend got.

A new addition to The Plaza Food Hall — yipee! We made a quick stop here for some Escargot Sunday afternoon and received perfectly cooked escargot in the classic butter, parsley, and garlic preparation. Our bartender was friendly and we enjoyed conversing with her about the other locations of Vin Sur Vingt, New York, and about life in general. The wine selection is exceptional, although we did not partake during this visit and I watched a sandwich come out of the kitchen for another patron and secretly wanted to snag it for myself; it was ginormous and looking fabulous. When touring The Plaza Food hall, Escargot should always be on the menu.
