Typical NYC pizza joint(3*s + 1* for being one of the few real pizza joints around). Lots of premade pizzas that they reheat. I had the buffalo chicken and the marinara slices. Buffalo chicken had a little bit of heat, but not too overpowering. Marinara was very tasty, a bit sweet, but the fresh mozz was very good. Total for 2 slices: $ 8.25. Kind of steep, but not out of place. My coworker got 2 plain slices for $ 5.50ish.

Pizza is pretty good! I didn’t know what to expect, but I’m on a mission to try as many different pizza places as possible. Starting with my neighborhood. I was with my sister so we ordered two pies. We got the fresh mozzarella pie(which was just ok), and then got one with mushrooms and peppers. That one was really good and I saved some of each for later. They were both good as left overs, but I think I’ll be ordering pizzas with different toppings instead of the plain mozzarella. I will definitely order again from here and I’m glad this place is very close.

Cheap, hearty pizza in the FiDi. Slices here are HUGE and only cost $ 3 – 4 each. I tried the chicken tomato on a regular, thin crust. One slice was definitely enough for lunch. There’s a bit of seating in the back but looks like a fair number of people do takeout. It’s a no frills type place that operates efficiently. Come by once in a while for some quick lunchtime indulgence!

Excellent pizzas. Slices are a little smaller than some pizzerias, but it’s not a deal breaker.

I came here with two friends visiting from France. Being from the area, I wanted to show them a true taste of our cuisine. The pizza was awesome! Good price and delicious. We all loved it.

We wanted to try a real New York pizza and we weren’t disappointed. They have great pizzas and wonderful service. We tried the pepperoni pizza with artichokes on half and both me and my wife were super-pleased with service and quality. Pricing is also great being in NY.

This hole in the wall pizza places was one of the few open on a Saturday in the financial district/Battery Park area. That being said, go, eat their food. It’s so tasty. With the number of choices between the specialty and standard slices, there is something for everyone there. Seating in the back isn’t huge, but it’s enough for a quick stop and eat(or walk and carry).

So we stayed at an Airbnb just across the street and I had to get my New York pizza fix. I didnt know what to expect but wasnt blown away, but it was still very good. The pizza by the slice was already baked and was just sitting out. Order and they throw a slice in the oven to reheat. I will say I cant find anything this good in Houston by the slice, but it just wasnt everything I expected. I was looking for maybe a little thicker crust and lizza that didnt need to be reheated.

It is plain to see how Underground Pizza got it’s name. It’s not underground, but it is a hidden gem in the Financial District, once you locate it, you’ll be in pizza heaven. They have a pretty large menu, offering all the standard subs, pasta dishes, and appetizers for a pizza shop(garlic knots were flavorful, but a bit dry — to be honest). But don’t give into temptation, get the pizza, it’s the real showstopper here. You might get overwhelmed by all the options for by-the-slice pizza they have available. When I walked in for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon, they were fully stocked with grandma, Sicilian, veggie, BBQ, buffalo, and even upside down pies. I got 1BBQ and 1 margarita slice, with a bottle of water: $ 9.50. Pay in cash or they will charge you extra. The crust was well done, but not burnt or too crispy — soft enough to bend in half to eat, but sturdy enough to to hold all the toppings of the BBQ chicken slice. The tomato sauce was a bit oniony and sweet, but I didn’t mind it. Basil on the margarita slice was fresh. It was amazing!

Randomly found this place after visiting the Statue of Liberty, and OMG! This pizza is so good! The service was quick too… but the PIZZA!!! Great cheese, great sauce, great toppings, huge slices, grease dripping(something I normally would be disgusted by)…it’s just everything you want in a good NYC slice.

This is some really great pizza I only ate twice here but as an original born and raised Brooklynite I know a good pizza when I eat one. The white slice and margarita are phenomenal!!!

I found this place near work on Unilocal.I wanted a good slice of pizza near work and this is the place! I had their buffalo chicken and mozzarella tomato slice. The buffalo chicken was really good, not too spicy and had lots of flavor. I was expecting more flavor from my other slice, so it was okay. I definitely want to try their grandma slice. Only downside is that it’s pricy, but what can you expect in FiDi.

Why is this pizza place«underground?» Is it because it’s located on a small side street near the water? Or perhaps this New York slice place is named after the London subway system. Maybe it is the rather poor signage leading to the entrance? Whatever the reason, this place should be much of a secret any longer. The slices here are extremely thin, with maximum service area dedicated to the layer of cheese on top of the bread and sauce. This is how you make a New York slice, the tomato sauce isn’t overly sweet and nothing overpowers any other element. It’s a seemingly simple combination that has eluded many of the other pizza places I’ve sampled around Wall Street. I ate this after work one day, and not surprisingly considering the nature of what happens around this area, the place was empty. There is a huge dining room, however, which makes this ideal for tourists or visitors to the Exchange Area. The speciality slices seemed a bit old and crusty on my visit, but for a classic slice or two, this is definitely recommended.

Their pizza is good but it’s not the best. I like this place more for their sandwiches. The chicken parm and eggplant parm are excellent. Good bread, good sauce, good cheese and the ratio of ingredients is right.

It’s lunchtime and I just picked up two nice sized grandma slices for $ 6. The crust was both chewy and crunchy. The sauce was both zesty and sweet. There’s a nice amount of mozz and a beautiful sprinkle of oregano and garlic. An all around great slice of pizza. Underground Pizza was my first foray into the financial district pizza scene and it was a good one. Looking forward to my next visit.

I love the pizza here! It’s crispy on the bottom, thin, the perfect amount of cheese, and it’s not oily! I wish they were open later on Saturdays and open on Sundays, too since that’s when I crave pizza the most! Then I have to order from a tier 2 pizza place. :(

I ordered my lunch for the first time through Unilocal and I have to say I’m a happy camper… My boss and I decided to order from underground… I was craving pasta and she wanted a calzone… I checked Unilocal to see their menu and load and behold you can actually order the food right from Unilocal.I ordered the chicken and broccoli pasta with garlic and extra Virginia oil my boss got the chicken Parmesan calzone. We places the order for 12pm and we already added tip… Have to say the delivery guy was on Time and the food was still hot and delicious as ever… I was told underground has fresh ingredients… Not much to complain about except I wish they had a closer location to my job…

I live in Portland, Oregon, and many of the folks who move there from Manhattan gripe up and down about how even the random slices in the city are better than the best pies on offer in PDX. So when I come to Manhattan, I do my best to eat at said random slice shops to see for myself how much of this sentiment is based in reality, and how much is just straight-up bullshit. Enter Underground Pizza. Rated highly on Unilocal, this joint figures straight in to what I’d expect from your average NY Slice shop. Between the dated logo and the wear and tear on the interior, I’m guessing it’s been around a while. Situated right in the heart of the Financial District, I’m sure it gets plenty of business. But since we slid in around mid-afternoon on a weekday, it was totally dead when we sampled our slices. I got to try both the regular and Sicilian style slices. Both were good. Solid crust, but nothing exceptional. Tasty sauce and a good amount of cheese. Overall, damn decent slices. I’d eat these any time, home or here in Manhattan. That said, no way are these, even higher-than-average rated slices better than our best at home. Good, yes. Great? Yes. But not what those expats claim. That said, this doesn’t in any way color my rating for Underground Pizza. This is great pizza and I’d eat it anytime. Compared to other slices and pies I’ve had in NY, it’s on the level. Solid pies. BOOM!

Sehr leckere Pizza, leider etwas teurer aber was anderes kann man wahrscheinlich in der Gegend nicht erwarten. Abgesehen von Preis absolut zu empfehlen!
