A great dining experience! The service was great, and done with a smile. Food came quickly, the staff checked on us often, but not annoyingly so. Gyro plate hit the spot! The meat was so well prepared, we couldn’t get enough of it. Looking forward to coming back!

For average, reasonably priced Greek food, this place will do. I doubt that it is «the best Greek food in NYC» as they claim and have had better Greek food near home. The lemon chicken soup was flavorful and pretty good, and the salad was fresh. The vegetable kebab was okay but lacked seasoning. The waiters were friendly and the calm restaurant was a nice break from the busy street.

Wishing there was a ZERO stars option. The gyros plate(of meat of unknown origin), spanikopita and fries tasted like it was all reheated and days old. All inedible, expensive and totally disgusting. How is this place even still open?! Huge disappointment…

Had gyro plate and lamb skewers — both excellent! Ordered pitcher or red sangria and reminded us of the excellent Sangria home made we had in Italy. For desert we had flan and the vanilla dessert wrapped in phyllo dough — it was mind blowing experience! Enjoyed every minute of it and was glad to experience this authentic Greek food

First time here and loved every bite. We had the brandy flamed cheese, followed by pork kebab and red snapper. Very tasty and great service. Thank you!

Was there on Thursday evening. Uncle Nick’s is nice place. They have two floors and the bar at the end of restaurant. The place wasn’t packed when we came. The staff was friendly. I ordered Mousaka, it came with salad without any dressing and rice(rice was delicious). Nothing special as for me.

I may be a bit biased since Greek food where I live in FL is terrible. The service was great, the Beef Kabobs were very tasteful and tender. The Greek Salad was perfect and they give you a slice of FETA. The Baklava was huge.

My friend and I were on a weekend trip from florida, I tell you, this place has some really really good food. Everything was fresh, service was fast, of quality and very friendly. If your in the area, be sure to stop by this place. You will not be dissapointed.

I had an unlimited variety of what to get just because we came as a school but they were very welcoming and sweet. I ordered a beef gyro and my friend ordered chicken gyro. It was very good and perfectly made. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the potatoes but everything else was just delicious. I defiantly recommended this restaurant if you are NY around Times Square.

I called to place an order for the office. The man that answered was rude and refused to repeat the order back to me, stating that he’s been in business for several years. At 1, he called to tell me he couldn’t find my address and hung up after I have him the correct address. Never again!

We had been to the other Uncle Nick’s but this was our first visit to the one in Chelsea. It’s a cozy place with a few floors of dining(only separated by a step or two) and a small bar in the rear. They accept open table reservations which makes it a great place to dine with a flip. We found the service to be prompt here and we were well attended to the entire evening. Huge wine list — both Greek wines and other wines. We started with the saganaki(fried cheese) — comes lit on fire and is a must try! Yum! My friend also got the grape leaves for an appetizer and enjoyed those as well. Entrees were great too — I got the pastitsio, while others enjoyed the gyro plate and chicken souvlaki. Everyone was happy with their choice and the portions were huge! Tip: Unilocal check in will get you 10% off Sunday-Thursday!

After waiting for about an hour and just being served water still no sign of our food. The women behind us and the family next to us came in 30 min after and were served. Upon inquiry the waiter said there was a technical issue and the order wasn’t transcribed to the kitchen. We waited 15 more minutes and still nothing. They provided no explanation, was unapologetic and didn’t even serve us bread/pita. Terrible service.

If you are a fan of traditional Greek cuisine, at a reasonable price, with a wide variety of choices then this is your place! Seriously love eating here whenever I’m in NYC… Friendly and knowledgeable staff to boot.

Greek food can be overpriced. It shouldn’t be. This NY style taverna rolls out great food. Grilled flounder whole was really well seasoned. Lamb chops amazing too. The dip foursome was perfect and scrumptious, scordalia light yet potent. Best was the rice pudding, snow white, like panna cotta but more ethereal. The location is not the best but for a serious Greek food fix, it can’t be beat. The walnuts in the baklava should be chopped finer.

Great find couple of blocks from Madison Square Garden. After reading Unilocal reviews and wanting something light before U2 concert made reservation here last Saturday. Ambiance isn’t the best, however, the service is friendly, attentive and food fantastic. The owner is originally from Crete so I can appreciate that even more since I lived there for couple of years. Everything was fresh, VERY large portions and great value. Give it a try!

The worst dining experience I have ever had at a restaurant in NYC. I am a nice person and rarely give 1 starts but my experience here was truly disgusting and I would give negative stars if I could. This is not my 1st time to Uncle Nick’s, I used to come here a few times a year with family to have a nice meal after an event in the neighborhood. In the past, my experience has always been very positive & I have recommended this place to many people who are fans of Greek cuisine as I am but I definitely am not going to come here ever again. They definitely lost loyal, long time customers. I came here one night with family and the restaurant was not packed which was nice. I don’t know if they underwent new management but the menu looked different than last time and the prices went up. I ordered the bifteki and substituted rice with salad and my parents ordered the small Greek salad with my mom ordering it with a chicken breast on top. Our waiter Vasiliki patiently answered any questions we had but after delivering our meals, he seemed to have disappeared. Because the prices were high and they claim to be «the best Greek restaurant in NYC,» we hoped that the meals we had ordered were great. We were extremely disappointed by the quality of the food for a restaurant that has a reputation for being good. The salad was not fresh, the tomatoes were old and slimy. Their dolmades were from out of a can(like come on now) and for a high quality Greek restaurant, the food should reflect the quality they claim to be, especially since they only put like 2 dolmades in each salad. The kalamata olives were not pitted, 99% of the time I order a salad with kalamata olives at a restaurant or even at a diner, they are pitted. The chicken that came with the salad was also old, slimy on top, and not fresh like old chicken breasts I leave in my frige when I made chicken at home. The bifteki that I had ordered was ok, I’ve had better gyro meat at a fraction of the price at Greek festivals in my town but this one was still ok. I felt nauseous and had a fever the day after that and I’m pretty sure it was from the food at this restaurant. We were also angry that we were charged $ 1 extra for pita that we had never ordered. My meal had come with like 3 tiny pieces of pita that didnt even add up to a whole pita and no where on the menu it said that pita was $ 1 extra with my meal. When we saw the other tables getting bread except ours, we asked for bread too. A waiter came and put down a basket of pita on our table we didn’t touch it, and then he took it away right away which was awkward. But we never once ordered pita, we just wanted the same bread the other tables got. Then brought a basket of white italian bread which is not pita, if this was not free we were not aware of the price even though we had asked. This is the 1st time I have ever had an issue getting bread at a restaurant ever. A homeless person also walked into the restaurant and came up to my table asking for money. This was a little disturbing and our waiter came to tell him to leave. The homeless man didn’t listen and our waiter just walked away which made me feel uneasy. What if the homeless person was on drugs or had a knife? Another waiter came to throw him out after the homeless man went to other tables. The restaurant didn’t even apologize for disrupting our experience. Also when I went to use the bathroom, it was absolutely filthy. When I came upstairs to tell the staff that the bathroom was disgusting they didn’t do anything about it and ignored me. At the end of the meal when we got our check, my father put down his credit card and right away a tall man that was not our waiter rudely & quickly grasped the checkbook. When we questioned the $ 1 extra pita and why we were charged for it, he ignored us. When we were leaving, we told the man that we were unhappy with our experience here that night because our past meals here have always been positive. He ignored us and gave us an attitude while we were leaving. I’m pretty sure I heard him yelling at us as we walked away which is highly unprofessional.

Oh my gosh Uncle Nick’s! Where have you been all my life? If you want authentic Greek food in the city, this is definitely the place to go to! Start with the inopikilia for two(this thing is not for two… It’s more like 3 – 4). It’s a great assortment of cold dips and hot grilled nibbles! Their grilled fish is amazing and so is all their grilled meat! Literally can’t go wrong. Food is shareable if you cannot make up your mind :) The only reason for taking a star away? Staff is pretty slow so don’t come here when you have a tight time restraint… It’s a European state of mind here so it’s a good spot to linger at with friends or a work lunch! They do take both reservations and credit cards :) Enjoy!!!
