I’ve been a big Two Boots fan for many years. First went to the 3rd Street location near Avenue A and then was a regular at Bleecker Street and 7th Avenue in the Village. Tasty pizza, cool toppings, spicy sauce, and unique thin crust with seeds. Just picked up a small pie to bring back to my office and am very disappointed. It seems that since my last visit, they’re changed the formula and gone to a thick, doughy crust. Crust reminded me of… ah… Dominos! Pizza didn’t stink, but it’s no longer the unique player in a crowded field the way it used to be. By the way, for those who come to NYC and go to Two Boots in search of «New York Style Pizza,» you’ve erred. Two Boots is not and never was a good example of «New York Style Pizza.»

First time having New York style pizza and after looking on Unilocal for good pizza that also offered vegan pizza, I ended up finding this place. Now, as this is my first time in New York, I had no idea what New York style pizza was supposed to be like so I was excited and had high hopes. However, I have to say that I feel like Two Boots is a decent example of this pizza. The best part about this pizza was the very unique ingredients that they used for it. For example, this was my first time having artichokes on a pizza, as well as sweet red pepper pesto. I did have this pizza twice during my visit. One was at the actual restaurant and the second time was delivery. As far as the restaurant goes, the people working the counter could use a little humility and not be such a grump. However, their display counter was very well organized and easy to know which pizza was which. When it came to the deliver, I was very surprised because when I placed the order over the phone they told it would take 1.5 hours to get my pizza but it was here in like 45 minutes. When it comes to the taste, it was good but it wasn’t great. I don’t know what it is really but I felt like it was missing something. I wasn’t completely WOW’ed by the pizza. The crust was a little dry, burnt and hard to bend, as you’re supposed to do with New York style pizza. Overall, like I said, the pizza was great(and I’m very thankful to have vegan pizza available) but I feel like it was okay, nothing over the top, and it was missing something.

I wish I could give zero stars. This was literally the worst pizza I’ve had. I’ve had better pizza from a convenience store. Unfortunately we were referred by the concierge in our hotel and by the time it was delivered we were starving and just ate it. Being from NY and having eaten my share of amazing pizza it’s safe to say this was the worst.

To nosh & avoid the maddening crowd, venture down to the lower level and find Two Boots tucked in the SE corner. Try the Meatball Sliders(and fresh, drippy garlic knots) & the #6 Pizza is CRAZY(good). I have had A LOT of NYC pizza in my day, and this rates in the upper 30%. I found the service speed… okay(though certainly friendly), but the joint WAS jumpin’ and I was not in a rush. The funky décor might give some people a seizure but I find it clever. One of the few places to sit in GCT where the only people asking you for money are the wait staff.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I went to the city for the first time ever and everyone’s always raving about New York style pizza so I NEEDED to try it. My friends, who live in the city, suggested this place for a stereotypical, oversized, New York City style slice. I hadn’t even had a real slice of NY pizza and I know whatever they served me was not the real deal. I ordered a slice of cheese and it came out burnt! How was the server ok presenting that sad excuse of a pizza to me? The sauce was terrible, the cheese was dry and BROWN, the crust was burnt to a crisp and covered in loads of corn meal. Why corn meal? I don’t know. I don’t want to know. I’m not sure why a New York native would suggest I go there but it might have something to do with the fact that she’s vegan. NEVER trust a vegan for pizza suggestions, and also never go to this establishment unless you really want to know what disappointment tastes like.

So, hanging with local friends while visiting the city, we tell them we want pizza, and for them to recommend a spot. They directed us to Two Boots. I feel betrayed by my friends. This was the worst slice I’ve ever had in the city and probably among the bottom 5 slices I’ve had anywhere, ever. I’ve never had a 99 cent slice of pizza, but I can’t imagine any way that it could have been worse than what they served me. First of all, the slices were served burnt — badly burnt — on top and bottom. You couldn’t even fold the slice with how the crust had been overcooked into a dried out cardboard sheet. Aren’t they ashamed to serve pizza this bad in New York City? Even Pizza Rat wouldn’t be caught dead here. Second, the cheese. It didn’t melt. It just sort of seared in place. I mean, it was brown. What the hell kind of cheese were they using? It reminded me of the cheese on those square Elio’s frozen pizzas I used to eat when I was a kid. Third, the sauce. Weird, too pungent flavor completely overpowered by oregano. Too acidic. Too salty. Too dry. Fourth, the crust. Man, what an atrocity. In addition to being a stiff sheet of communion wafer, it was covered, way too liberally, in coarsely ground cornmeal that was literally and figuratively the most abrasive part of the meal. The corn meal tore up my mouth and got stuck in my teeth. I’m actually so pissed that I wasted a meal of my NYC weekend on such bad pizza, at the recommendation of New Yorkers. I would sooner eat a slice of Famous Original Ray’s pizza off the floor of a swingers’ club than ever eat a slice here again. In fact, I wish I had stuck my fingers down my throat and purged the garbage pizza from my system as soon as I ate it.

I spent most of last week in NYC — traveling from LA. As someone who is gluten and dairy free(allergic, not by choice) it can be challenging, but my only real food mission was to try to find a piece of delicious gluten free dairy free pizza. My friend took me to Two Boots where I had the V for Vegan on Gluten Free crust. In LA I would’ve eaten a modest portion, but I was on vacation and I took down that whole generously portioned«small» pizza that actually can Serve 2 if paired with a salad or if you’re only relatively hungry.(Menu says 1 – 2) Amazing pizza and cool vibe/atmosphere and I googled them and realized they actually have LA locations and that takes away some of the sting of having to leave NY yesterday. Thank you two boots!

Never thought I was going to say this, but this pizza is terrible. Two Boots is a big name and hugely popular in NY so I’m not sure if it’s just this location, but I was very very disappointed when I first tried it here at Grand Central terminal. We ordered a regular cheese pie and it’s everything I don’t want a pizza to be… honestly Domino’s would probably compare better. The crust was too thick, the cheese was sub-par quality… obviously processed mozzarella since it doesn’t melt nicely(reminded me those pizza from NY public school lunch days), and the sauce was terrible… the spices were just not the right mix… it tasted like herbal medicine. The service was blah. Definitely do not recommend, especially if you’re a New Yorker, and if you’re not one, you definitely have a copious amount of good options.

Came here with my brother on our way back to the Bronx. Two Boots has locations throughout NYC but this is the only one I’ve tried. I came here once or twice many years ago so I took today’s lunch as a new experience. The Grand Central location has a walk up counter as well as a separate dining room where you can get table service. Like most other eateries in Grand Central, the dining room is small — but there are a decent amount of tables set up plus a small bar near the entrance. The décor is very colorful — lots of painted murals on the walls with bright red booths and tables. We decided on pizza, though they do have a small selection of salads and sandwiches as well. Most pizzas come in 3 sizes; small has 4 slices, medium has 6 slices, and large(I believe) has 8 slices. We decided to split a medium Night Tripper, which was a white pizza with sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, and jalapeño pesto. Pizza was pretty good — the jalapeño pesto was spicy and their signature cornmeal crust added a nice crunch. Service was kind of slow, but you have to expect that with pizza — I’ve been to other restaurants where one or all of us have ordered pizza and it always takes longer than usual. Our waitress was kind of blasé, she didn’t offer us refills on our beverages and just handed us the cheque when were done(how about a «is there anything else I can get for you?»). The pizza was pretty good, but I’m not running back here. They have fun names and flavor combos, but it’s not true New York pizza and borders on being touristy. I take it for what it is though, and if you want to grab a bite while in Grand Central keep it in mind.

This is a decent little pizza place hidden in Grand Central Station. I was surprised how much I liked it. Try«The Dude» and/or «The Newman.»

I mean… where do I even start? I honestly feel like I could skip arm day at the gym because the whole time I was swatting away gnats and house flies. The drinks were subpar and the pizza was the worst slice I’ve had in the city. We also ordered the jambalaya which was dry and lacking flavor. The rice was clumpy and burnt. Do yourself a favor and just go to shake shack.

Two Boots is a chain, a very popular one at that, located all around New York City with a NOLA theme. They’re famous for their pizza(it’s in the name!), which is absolutely delicious. Their large pizza is really large — it’d probably be good for 3 – 4 people. It’s super cheesy, super thin-crusted, and the topping choices and combinations are endless. We visited the Grand Central location, and it’s much like all the other locations I’ve seen. There’s nothing that makes it particularly stand out from the rest, but still, the designs on the walls and all the art is just complimentary to how great their pizza tastes. The waitress was super friendly and the seating was quite comfortable if you get a booth. This location is unfortunately small, so you might be squeezed into a small table instead of a booth. Anyhow, everyone seems to really enjoy the pizza here, so if you have a chance — give it a try!

Slice options are adventurous, but slice price is a bit much for Dominoes grade crust

Location: This place is located in grand central in the food court area. So if you come here be prepared to walk into a crowded space with thousands of people. Food: Its like any other pizzeria but ten times more expensive. prepare to cough up 5 bucks for a plain slice of pizza. Overrated, my co-workers rave about this place but honestly I could not give two boots to come to this place. The pizza is okay and its expensive. No thanks.

I’ve always loved me some Two Boots* pizza and ordered from their NoHo location frequently during my NYU days. Feeling nostalgic and armed with a $ 5 off PayPal offer, I decided to place an order through the PayPal app. Very unfortunately, there was no way to order individual slices off the menu on the app and as such I went with what I thought was the next best thing — a calzone with creole chicken($ 6.50). Oh boy, what a shame. This calzone was stuffed to the brim with cheese, which ordinarily would’ve been just fine by me, but there was NO seasoning!!! The«creole» chicken was bland beyond belief and the outer shell was just boring. For a place famous for it’s «N’Awlins» flavor, this was a cardinal sin! Where was the fabulous spice I had so adored Two Boots for?! Without it, they are no better than any other humdrum pizzeria. Lesson learned — I will only get the pizza from here next time. An extra star only because the calzone was huge for the price and because I KNOW their pizzas are much better. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — *Fun fact: Two Boots is named because their food pays homage to Italy & Lousiana, two boot shaped places :)

Having done some research on vegan pizza places beforehand, I had high hopes for this place. This particular branch located in Grand Central Station has a takeaway counter where you can sit in the food court but also an interior restaurant. I opted to take away a slice from the counter and liked the sound of the the cheese free Earth Mother with lots of veg on a wholewheat crust as I’m never keen on pizzas laden with cheese. I was initially pleased I was getting a slice of a freshly baked hot pizza rather than one from the display cabinet, but this was short lived as I tucked in. Whilst the wholewheat crust was tasty enough, I just found it a bit too thick and doughy. The vegetable topping was good though, but could have been a bit warmer. My mum sampled the cheese pizza which was had a much nicer, thinner traditional crust but she wasn’t over enamored with the slice either. For under $ 5 a slice I can’t complain too much, and maybe another choice would have been better. If I’m back in NY though I think I’d definitely try a more authentic NY pizza.

Let me first say that as a vegan, I’m grateful just to have pizza. But as a former omnivore, I resent how hard Daiya tries(and fails!) to be anything like cheese. The V is for Vegan slice I had while here with a friend for lunch had a great pesto flavor, but would have been much better without the faux cheese aftertaste. The incredibly thin crust and sparse toppings were also not very satisfying for a just-under-$ 5 slice of pizza, and in retrospect, I probably would have been happier with the cheese-less but more robust-looking Earth Mother slice. I took my slice to eat in the cafeteria-style Grand Central eating area, but Two Boots has their own section to the right of their counter with more of a sit-down restaurant atmosphere. Considering the lack of non-salad vegan options at Grand Central, I will likely be back again in hopes that their other vegetarian-friendly slices will be less than disappointing!

I work in White Plains and live in the city, so I often find myself in Grand Central on days that I end of up taking the train on my way back from work. On those days, I am so glad that there’s a Two Boots right in Grand Central! I am gluten free and vegan, so its really a delight to be able to get a pizza on the go that caters to it. The gluten free pizzas are available only by the pie(vs. by slice) but the service is quick and are typically ready in around 10 minutes. There are two options for vegan and GF pizzas, one is the Earth Mother — this comes with a variety of vegetables and comes with a red sauce, and the other newer one is the«v» is for Vegan, which has artichokes, mushrooms, onions and topped with daiya cheese and pesto. The former is the much healthier variety(if ordered without daiya cheese) and personally my favorite. But I would really recommend«v» is for Vegan for meat eater who are trying to eat healthier or those who are trying to reduce cheese consumption. The daiya cheese is delicious and cholesterol free. A lot of my friends who love cheese barely notice the difference in taste with daiya cheese. Personally, my boyfriend who loves meat, prefers the ‘V” is for Vegan pizza from Two Boots over the chicken varieties offered here. A word of caution, the pizzas taste the best eaten right away especially the«V» is for vegan. The daiya cheese tends to have a weird consistency when heated the next day and consumed.
