I had lunch here twice and was never disappointed! Although this place was very slow during lunch time, service was still attentive and the atmosphere was nice and quiet, perfect for lunch with good company! Both times I ordered the sashimi lunch special that came with soup, salad, an appetizer, and thick slices of my 3 favorite sashimi, white tuna, tuna, and salmon! The salad dressing and tiny shumai wasn’t anything spectacular. But the most important part is that they really don’t skimp on the fish slices here and all of it was very fresh so I always left this place stuffed and satisfied! Great spot for lunch that’s worth your time and money!

What the hell is this place? A bar? A Lounge? A restaurant? All I know is that is the tiniest sushi bar I have ever seen — who would want to sit there? The sushi was only okay, but the bento box filled with tofu teriyaki was amazing. I told my waitress no sesame and there was sesame on everything — not cool, you almost killed me. Speaking of my waitress, I had like the worst service ever. There weren’t that many people and I’m convinced this young lady hated her job. She served with sunglasses on — I’m sorry, if you have hangover, don’t come to work. Ridiculous. Also, this place is too pricey for it to be this bad.

My friends were coming from the Javits center and wanted something for a large group in the neighborhood; I checked the Unilocal reviews and this was the top-rated place in the neighborhood that said it was quiet and loungey. I called ahead and made a reservation for 10 at 8pm several hours in advance, so they definitely knew we were coming with a large group. We sat down a few minutes after 8, and by 9:45 only a couple members of the group had received their appitizers. One person had to leave before her sushi roll was served, even though we mentioned in advance that she had to go. Not sure what took that long. When we brought it up, the waitress said, «Oh, but you’re a large group.» Um, yeah. You’d known we were coming for hours and it still took over 90 minutes for miso soup and salads to turn up? The people next to us sat down, had their whole meal, paid and left long before any of us had our meals. The food was OK but nothing special; definitely par for the course at this price point. The space was quiet but the long table they’d put together was also right under some bright lights. No real atmosphere to speak of. At least we could hear one another speak. Next time I’m with a group who wants sushi near the Javits center, I’m telling them to take a cab and meet me in another neighborhood.

Didn’t have a chance to eat anything, just had drinks! Bartender was nice and made great drinks! Definitely need to come back and have some grub! Sushi coming out of the kitchen looked amazing!

Unsure how this place stays in business, because i don’t think I have ever since someone else eating in here. That said, the sushi is excellent. Good quality, fresh, sushi chef seems nice. Service is good, as is the food, so I keep going back. Nice people work there.

This place is a really cute restaurant/bar with delicious food. It would be nice if they had a bit of a wider selection of beers on tap, but overall the atmosphere is great, very friendly staff and a fun place to hang out.

This is one of the best sushi places in NYC. They have a sushi bar, plus a private dining area, and plenty of room if you want to grab after work drinks with your friends. The food is amazing! When you go here(I say when, because you have to), order the Flying Monkey Sushi roll. It’s also a great drinking snack to share with your buddies. The Sushi chef is at the top of his game, The staff is very friendly, I had not been there for a month, and the Sushi Chef remembered my name, and my favorite Dish! This place is great for groups, specially if throwing a party, just give them a quick call, and they might even give your group some deals on food or drinks! The only con: Being a beer junkie, I would have liked that they have a larger selection on tap, but they did have a full bar, with a great bartender. This is my new favorite spot!

I’ve been known to have a cast iron stomach and will eat pretty much anything at least once. So in the past two weeks, I took on the challenge of eating a 7 piece sashimi lunch bento box for $ 8.95 before tax: I know what you’re thinking. How safe could this be? Well I ate it twice and I’m still alive to Unilocal about it~!!! Here are my findings: 1. California rolls: they weren’t rolled well and were kinda small. It was still better than a deli version though. 2. salad: the dressing was too watery 3. rice: average 4. salmon: it was the best piece of the box as it was fairly fresh. The texture was a little wet and mooshy though. 5. tuna: texture was OK the first time, but the second time weirded me out when the layers of each piece of tuna began to fall apart on me 6. yellow tail and julienned cucumbers wrapped with fluke: mediocre and kind of dry 7. wasabi: weird texture where it seemed really wet 8. ginger and miso soup: mediocre Summary: My will was truly tested. I wasn’t expecting omakase fish by any means, but I was concerned about getting sick on such discounted sashimi. At the end of the day, I did not get sick and found lunch to be OK and a healthy option.

Warning! This place is rated«B». I made the mistake of ordering a sashimi bento box. I hope I don’t get sick. But they have a great lunch special. I used a Groupon Now, so it even made the deal a lot sweeter. The fish was okay fresh. It’s good for the price you’re paying for. You can’t be expecting top of the line fish for $ 107 piece sashimi lunch. I would come back again, but probably only with a Groupon.

i ordered dinner here last night after reading some of the reviews here. apparently they had just changed their menu to be a bit more japanese. so some of the items i wanted like(duck noodle) was not on the menu. they were nice enough to deliver 20 blocks all the way up to columbus circle… we got 3 dishes, steak teriyaki, pad thai, singapore chow mein and it was all good. reasonably priced too. came out to $ 35, and then we saved 20% using DailyGobble so it was $ 28 after the savings… not bad at all.

I walked in to get takeout and ordered a Chirashi dinner. It was a comfortable wait(lots of chairs, pleasant/not overcrowded, separate from the dining area), and the waitress was very nice. The prices are average to good for NYC and the sashimi itself was great! I haven’t had fish as fresh and smooth as that since I was in Japan visiting the fish markets. I’m not sure if they’re always this wonderful as it was my first time there, but I’m definitely going back and recommending it to friends/family who want sushi in the area.

At first glances, you may want to walk out of this restaurant. Its dark and the place looks a little dated. However, the food here tastes very homemade and cooked with love. Also, the waitress today was a real cool breeze on today’s hot day. I wanted something healthy so I ordered fresh sauteed fish with veggies as well as crab ragoons. A ragoon is not healthy. Its fried and filled with cheese. Its kinda like a deep fried wonton except with crab and cream cheese. The order comes with(4) ragoons for $ 4.95. I ate two at the table and brought(2) home for my kids to try. This dude sitting next to me ordered what looked like a deep bowl of noodles that looked great. I’ll be back! I am a fan so I’ll give them a four star review today. :)

Tried the Chinese… this is definitely a 5 star place. In a neighborhood where the Chinese food is beyond lacking, I finally found a good plate of vegetables in brown sauce. The waitress was also beyond sweet and really funny. When we complimented how delicious it was, she replied«no, you were just hungry» Yes, this is a take-out Americanized Chinese place with a Japanese menu… it is not top quality or the most special food you will ever eat. But it is exactly what it tries to be, and I’m happy with that. The ingredients are much fresher than the other Chinese takeout in the area, but the prices are nowhere near Jing(which up until now was our only option) I can’t wait for more T.S. Ma!

I call them at 13:39 to place an order for shrimp tempura, they delievered the sushi at 14:05, I ate the roll and am now writing this review. One word: Gross. Five more: Flavourless, beyond mediocre, sloppy, appalling.

Went to this after a two-hour exploration of B&H Photo-Video. Didn’t know it’s name until we left and looked up. Looks very small from the outside, but is fairly spacious inside for how small it looks. Very nice décor, comfortable seating. Tables are a bit on the small side, though. Waitress was very friendly, suggested some things, advised against others; the batch of a certain kind of appetizer/dish was a bit starchy that day, and she advised against it. Bought a nice sake that was much smoother, and much cheaper than I thought it would have to be, to be as good as it is. $ 25/bottle. And we got the last one she had until later in the week! Tried a sushi sampler dish, and ate almost every type on it. Beware fish eggs, though. They gave me hell about 6 hours later ;-) Miso soup was delicious, and I haven’t had miso from many places.

Ordered delivery from here the other day for lunch. $ 12(including tip) for a salmon teriyaki bento box — more than I usually like to spend on lunch, but not horrible for a day when I have no time to go grab food. The food came in a reasonable amount of time. The bento box was good but not great. It included a tasty California roll, a so-so piece of salmon, a salad comprised of about 7 pieces of lettuce, and some miso soup. They didn’t charge extra for brown rice as some places do. I’d order again in a pinch, but won’t be rushing back soon.

I like their Chinese food. Good General Tso’s Chicken but I have to say their lunch specials menu is very Americanized, which I don’t like. They also have Japanese dishes as well, which are average.

This Place is Amazing. The service was great. I came in here randomly with my friends after a gallery opening to get a quick bite. We sat at the bar and ordered a dew rolls and a few drinks. The bar-tender/server was out of red wine(It was late on Saturday so we understood) so he gave us our second choice of drinks on the house. His name was Derrik. He was so cheerful and friendly. I would come back just to have him serve us. Order the Mama roll too it was fabulous

Came here for lunch today-everything is brand new! They have a large range of asian food to choose from as well as a sushi bar. We opted for the sushi bar-the lunch special was a choice of soup or salad and two rolls for $ 7.95 it was great and the sushi was fresh and YUMMY! Coming back here again soon! They also had other cheap lunch specials to choose from if you didn’t feel like having sushi rolls.
