I had a perfectly pleasant experience today. I walked in and after a few seconds of browsing, someone came over to help. I was looking for a drill bit and he helped answer my question and offered a bunch of different options — even asking about my project to see if he could give me tips or an alternative. The cashier was equally friendly and my item was inexpensive. No complaints here!

They generally have what you need. and the older gentleman seems knowledgeable, but jesus… everyone in the store needs to learn some customer service skills.(thought the woman t the register is very nice). One positive though is that they are on sundays, unlike every other hardware store on the planet. God forbid you want a key made though… that is clearly their least favorite task.

I really want to like this store However, when the owner is not present the mice will play. Customer service is so important. And, depending on who is in the store at the time of your visit either service with a smile or a nod to a question will be the response. Generally, the ladies at the register are very helpful and friendly and what you would expect at a neighborhood hardware. However, some of the male employees think that somehow a verbal response would require a bit to much energy. I have worked retail and I wish everyone either spent time in a store or a Restuarant to learn what it’s like. The secret is that your time(or sentence) will go so much faster by being friendly and courteous than being full of attitude. I admit TriBeca can be very challenging considering the clientele. But, it’s still easier with honey!

I have been coming to this hardware store my entire life and have lives a few blocks down since I was a little girl. I always get my keys copied here and have never had any major problems. today, I went in after having a specific key copied unsuccessfully on three separate attempts. After weeks of trying I had misplaced my receipt and came in asking for a refund(only about 10 dollars). The manager told me he would not refund me without the receipt and got extremely angry when I tried to explain to him and the man who had copied my keys that I had tried over the last month several times and that each time the keys didn’t work. When I explained I would review the location accordingly he started yelling and told me not to ever come back. Again, this is a store I have been to for over two decades and this was a receipt of less than $ 11. I certainly will not be going back here, even for daily household goods. Find a friendlier and more helpful place to take your business!

Shameful customer service Walked in looking for a socket wrench and walked out after being insulted by an employee claiming to be the manager. The man seemed irritable when i first approached. He became sarcastic and antagonistic after i asked for advice on fixing my door and then he continued to insult me about my little knowledge of hardware… This place should not be in business.

Junky space with too limited selection and completely useless and snarky people at the register. Will not return.

I really wish customer service was a priority here because I always make an effort to support local mom & pop businesses instead of chain stores. I went in to purchase potting soil and a flower pot and the workers were so very dismissive and rude especially the cashier! Though I live in the area, I will travel to home depot for any of my hardware/gardening needs just so that I don’t have to deal with such horrible service.

They don’t seem to know what Customer Service is, it is sad, and unfortunate, but I guess that is what allows them to hire such morons to work there. Purchased a couple toggle bolt kits for a measly $ 18. The guy in the store, lets just call him Mr. Douche, opened the package in the store to demonstrate how to use it. Upon returning home, we realized that the item they sold us was incorrect for our needs. We returned to the store and Mr. Douche refused to take it back as a return because the item had been opened. Yea, thanks, we know, you are the one who opened it Mr. Douche. Don’t go here. Go anywhere else, anywhere. They have no respect for there patrons and they hire morons like Mr. Douche.

I stopped by the hardware store to get a copy of keys made. There was a worker that assisted me right away and I was out of the store within 5 minutes. Each copy of key was about $ 2. If the key does not work, you can come back with your receipt and have a new key cut.

Not what it was. Used to be super customer friendly, but seems to have changed with the new ‘kids’ that work there. Tried to exchange an item(sm glue gun), unused, i’d bought literally the day before when the same two kids were working. T’Hardware’s sticker still on it, still in the bag, but no receipt(extremely important apparently). Wouldn’t exchange it. Said they couldn’t be sure i’d bought it there… from the two of them… just the day before… despite the sticker and the other exact same items on their rack. I didn’t want cash, just the other glue gun for the same exact price. I think it was $ 9. And for that, they just lost a local customer of 8 yrs. As local hardware stores continue to get shut down by the big boys, Tribeca Hardware seems insistent upon following suit… been real, kids… enjoy if in need in the area, hit Tribeca Paint on W. B’way btw Franklin & White. or the HDepot…

I’ve been in before to buy small things here and there, and was satisfied with what they had… but I called just now and the guy who answered was kind of unbelievable. Customer service? … Me: Hi, do you sell pesticides? Man: Yes. Me: Do you have diatomaceous earth? Man: I don’t know, but I doubt it. Me: You doubt it? Man: We probably don’t have that brand but you could come in and check. Me: Well, I was calling to see if you had it so I wouldn’t have to come in if you don’t. But I’ll definitely look for it somewhere else. … Seriously? Want to, I don’t know, take 2 minutes to look on the shelf for me?

Great store, good selection though not a very large space and really friendly staff. They also rent tools and are happy to explain how everything works. Fair prices and a large selection of interesting glues I didn’t know existed as well — a fantastic neighborhood spot!
