I bought a Gilt deal for Tracy Anderson Method classes. It was $ 250 for 5 classes.(Yes, I know, let’s not even talk about it.) It’s a mystery how much the actual classes are without a promotion and I honestly don’t want to know. The studio is far. Like a good 7 – 10 minute walk west of the closest A/C/E Subway station. The class times are such that I had to leave work early in order to make it to class.(I think the latest weeknight evening class is 6PM or so.) There was a snafu at checkin because there was no evidence that I had signed up for the first class, notwithstanding my email confirmation, but the receptionist quickly resolved the error, gave me a tour and a brief tutorial on how the«MultiTAsk Band» class works. The studio has a pretty decent view and large windows. The class is outfitted with resistance bands(varying in color and tension) on the ceilings in sections. Initially, I was wondering if the A/C was broken and appalled at the possibility given the cost of the class. Then I realized the class was heated, not like Bikram hot, but like beginner’s hot yoga. So the actual class was okay. The logistics of the class were very straight forward. It was a bunch of awkward«dance» moves done while intertwined with the resistance bands. The instructor«danced» the whole class and was located front and center, so it was easy to fall along. She also gave recommendations on which color(and level of intensity) resistance bands she recommended for beginners and certain movements. It was definitely a hard workout, but still accessible. My HRM registered approximately 325 calories burned during the 50 minute class. I can imagine that the long term benefits are comparable to a barre class. Given the location and the price tag, however, I definitely won’t be returning.

Definitely not worth the crazy price tag. The workout is fine. Not amazing, but not awful. The studio is a dump, though. Shocked considering the hype and the price.

Took a few classes when my best friend and I lived on the West Side, since then I was hooked on TA’s signature«silly but effective» body moves. Now that Anna Kaiser is on the East Side… and Soul Cycle… and Exceed… and The Fhitting Room… Basically, EVERYSINGLEMAJORFITNESSCRAZE has a studio on the Upper East Side. Come on Tracy, time to re-energize your brand and open a studio next to your gal pal Madonna, right?

I confess, I got a deal on Gilt City so I’m not paying the standard $ 8 million to work out here, but if I had the dough I would! The classes are HARD but fun and I’m already seeing results. The staff and teachers are all very friendly.

Can I give a zero star. Really bad attitude. Was really excited to check out the place as I saw some promotional videos for the new dvd on the net and wanted to try out the studio classes. Emailed them twice to get pricing and schedule but no response so I called them and this really rude woman answers saying they don’t email people back and have no classes except for a yearly membership with a tone suggesting I would obviously not be able to afford it. If you are trying to sell your dvds to the non madonnas and gweneths — would suggest to dumb it down a bit. And never write anyone off — cardinal rule of marketing.
