This place is just a diner. Nothing special and an average service. Unless it is for after hours food, go elsewhere.

This place is a solid diner. Waitstaff was friendly and the food was decent. They were always there with the coffee, which is important for a diner.

Was early for an appointment in the neighborhood so dropped in on this place. It’s a classic NYC diner — a little worn around the edges which made me feel I was in the right place. Tasty diner classics served quickly and efficiently. My standard diner order is chicken salad sandwich and it did not disappoint. I could tell this place has many loyal regulars as the waitresses seemed to know them by name. I’m definitely going back.

Pretty typical diner options here. I ordered the grilled chicken caesar salad for lunch to go. The staff was very friendly! I was asked to choose between the regular caesar salad and the lunch special, but when I asked what the difference was they couldn’t really give me an answer except to say that one of them might be bigger? They were both listed at the same price($ 12.95) on the menu. The salad was enormous and came with a side of mixed fruit which was nice. Chicken was extremely dry but was a decent portion, as was the rest of the salad. The lettuce was chopped up very fine which was a little hard to eat with a fork, and the dressing seemed mayo-heavy. Everything tasted decent though, and the portion was large enough to save half for the next day. However, the salad was tossed in dressing(which I’d prefer) so it was naturally a little soggy the next day so the bigger portion wasn’t as much of a bonus. I’d probably come here again for some diner food because its close to work, but it’s nothing extraordinary.

I am very fond of local diners. And this place is superb. Second time eating breakfast here on this trip. I highly recommend the Pheasant Omelette. The food, the service and the friendliness is tops. And this place is about the cleanest diner I have EVER seen. Everyone says hello, how are you, how was it, need anything else. Go here!

I’ve been to a lot of diners around New York and this one was by far the worst. I ordered the 6 piece wings and was expecting some sort of sauce resembling buffalo sauce. It came with a sticky and overly sweet plum-like sauce that coated the overcooked wings. I also ordered a milkshake thinking how could someone mess up a milkshake. Well I was pretty disappointed at the strangely liquidly drink they called a milkshake. Definitely not worth the overpriced trip to this one. Not going here anytime soon or anytime later.

Awesome Greek diner! I ordered a bacon cheese burger. that bacon was delish! My friend had the grilled chicken sandwhich which I tried and was juicy. My other friend had the spinach pie deluxe. I was impressed with all three! Service was quick and friendly! Family owned business you can’t get any better than that! NYC diner prices. pretty much what I expected to pay and definetly worth it. ***Coffee was so good I took a cup to go!

A diner disaster, live a few blocks away and have given this place about half a dozen chances over the past couple of years… Purely for convenience as they are local. They have yet to come close. Over cooked omelettes, stale wraps, bland food cold fries the place really needs to reevaluate the food… It’s truly below grade… And is far from a bargain. The only bright spot… Service is fast and coffee is good… Oh and I had souvlaki that was pretty good but… There are far better options.

Fine until the food came and the French toast had mold on it. Yuck. Sent that back and cautiously ate what else I had ordered. I guess there is not much turnover on bread here for there to be mold on it. Watch what you eat here.

I judge diners on their ability to keep my cup of coffee full, cook my bacon just right, and balance speed with smile. Townhouse does all three. My breakfast staples include either the lox deluxe platter(alas, I forego the bagel…) or the London broil — with a side of bacon of course. I’ve frequented this place perhaps 20 times total as I live nearby, and I know waitstaff by name. It’s that kind of place. Prices are a bit higher than some other diners — perhaps 10%-15% — but I feel the quality more than justifies the price. Try it out if you’re passing in this area of town.

French toast were heated up from previous day, they were dry as can be and had that distinctive smell of yesterday’s egg. Eggs were not organic or good quality. Coffee was disgusting. I wonder why eating establishments that offer such bad food manage to stay open. I must be one of the few whose taste buds cannot be easily fooled and I appreciate quality. In a big metropolis where the people are so extremely busy, diners, which nourish the masses would do this city a great service by offering real quality food instead of trying to make more by sacrificing quality.

Sort of a mixed bag. Had two salads tonight. One was Greek with chicken souvlaki on top. The other was spinach with grilled chicken in top. The chicken on top of the spinach was dried out and tough. The spinach was fresh but dressing was basically balsamic vinegar which had separated entirely. The souvlaki on the geek salad, on the other hand, was moist and tasty. However, the ingredients in the Greek salad did not compare. The feta was sparse and dry. There were only 4 olives and two small grape leaves. The Greek salad was basically lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and red onion. Again, the dressing was poor.

Classic diner in midtown. Went for breakfast — much to choose from! Great service, accommodated 8 people. Mostly everyone got an omelet, eggs, and/or toast. My dad also ordered pancakes for the table which were my favorite! Our waitress was great, it looks like a family owned restaurant which I always like. The food is okay — I’ve had better diner experiences but if you’re in the area it’s not a bad stop for some breakfast that will be sure to fill you up!

Best diner in the city hands down. Friendly staff and consistently good food every time. Menu can get extensive and there are some gems(Beef stew, split-pea soup, sauteed veggies, fresh roasted turkey, meatloaf, stuff filet of sole) but if you go to a diner and order pasta, don’t be disappointed if its not the best thing you’ve ever eaten. Stick to the basics– breakfast, burgers, greek dishes, turkey clubs. If you are a chicken caesar connoisseur like myself, I suggest you get yourself a wrap(i’m not a salad guy) and enjoy. It’s gotta be the dressing or maybe the croutons, but I have had thousands of CC wraps and none can top the Townhouse. If you are writing a review on Unilocal to complain about prices or a one time encounter with a waitress, you obviously are not from NYC and should get use to it because no one cares!!!

Run of the mill greasy spoon diner. The menu looked extensive so lots of options. The hubs and I got the corned beef hash and salmon omelet respectively. Coffee was always full. The corned beef hash was OK and the salmon omelet was just OK. I wasn’t a fan of the hashbrowns. I asked for extra crispy but they came out looking barely/just cooked enough. The toast came drenched in butter and the hot sauce looked a little watered down. Overall the service was great and the food just ok. If its Sunday and I’m hungover and too staring to go far then I’d hit this place up again. Otherwise there are many other places in the city offering slightly better fare but you may not get as many smiles from the staff.

The breakfast specials here cost more than the sum of their parts. When I asked the difference between the two the response was that the special includes coffee. When I pointed out that coffee is $ 1.50, the response was«would you like to order something ?» At some point they just eliminated the OJ from the specials and thought no one would notice. I ordered the a la carte French toast and coffee because my mama didn’t raise no fool. After that the waitress recovered and treated us really nicely and the food was hot and fresh so 3 stars.

Stopped in here for dinner the other night as I was working in the area. Friendly staff and good service. I had the Mediterranean Salad with Chicken Souvlaki and a coffee. A okay. My only complaint is that the booths are very tight(there is a bar that extends up diagonally from the base of the wall to hold the table tops up) which made it very uncomfortable for me to sit there.(I’m 6’3″).
