Top Banana Market

I walk here to pay tribute to the Snack God when I am low on bucks but highly hungry.
The actual pizza restaurant is a divided section of the Top Banana Market which is a bodega and fruit market rolled into one.
The other side to the left is where the cheesy goodness hides from me. The size of the slices served here equal two of any other self respecting pizza joint. I eagerly plop down my $ 3.50 per slice and do my best not to pace around inside or look expectantly at the server as my foot long, six inch wide food drug is prepared for me.
For the sake of decorum, I always try to non-​nonchalantly order my slices to go. I know the hypocrisy of such behavior as I always reach with unladylike poise to clamp my fingers mercilessly onto the pizza slice which barely has had time to steam the inside of the bag.
I tear into it with glazed eyes, uncaring of the hot sauce that always decorates my chin with first bites. Yummm!
They do have Sicilian slices, specialty pies, various sized pies, garlic knots, calzones and other tempting fare. They do have 2 liter soda and pie specials. However, I am chastely devoted to their individual slices!
Other Notes
Do not expect the same huge slices that they single serve on site when you purchase a large pie for takeout because the ones they serve on site would literally only fit in 2 boxes if made for takeout
There is no inside seating just a small standing only counter that faces the window with views of the street. Parking is street side only and this business is in front of the BX 5 bus stop so don’t take chances double parking.
SUMMARY
Get there! (although I will be mourning the loss of each slice you have that could have been with me) I have been many times and it is always a good value! Be sure to call to order your takeout pies as they do good business in that tiny place. You may also want to call to be sure of their hours of operation.

so there is a pizza shop right next to the market that belongs to top banana i believe. this pizza is SO GOOD. everytime i’m in the X, i try to get a slice. pepperoni too. highly recommend.
