The UPS Store

I have never encountered such rudeness from a business. I had my package delivered to this UPS access point and I knew that I had one week to pick it up when delivered but due to a family emergency I had to go out of town before the package was delivered and came back after the one week deadline for pick up. I tracked the package online and the last status update was that the package was delivered to this location but didn’t say that it was sent back to the sender because it wasn’t picked up within the week so I called this store to find out the whereabouts of the package and the store associate wasn’t even willing to track the package for me! I told him what the situation was and asked him kindly if I could give him my tracking number so he can check but he cut me off and said in a very condescending tone that if it’s been more than a week the package has already been sent back to the sender; then when I told him he didn’t need to be rude and maybe just try to help me out he said don’t waste my time and hung up on me!!! Long story short, I called the UPS 1 – 800 number, they tracked the package for me and it was in fact still at this location and I went in and picked it up. Obviously the guy was wrong and if only he tracked the package in the first place – which I believe is the most basic service a UPS store should provide its customers – he would have saved both of us from this unpleasantness. Needless to say, I won’t be taking my business to this store anymore.

Made an online appointment ahead of time for notary services. Showed up and was told the notary wasn’t there. Why bother making an appointment?

RUDE RUDE RUDE Never go to this store!!! ALSO they called (have a copy of the date, time and number on my iphone) and said my package was in — when I went to pick it up they said they didn’t have it and — very rudely — said not their problem and call the 800 number on Monday. After tracking I called back and said, aside from the phone call a person with the initials BV signed for the delivery and the tracking says it is still in your store so could you please recheck your store room or whatever — they said «I already told you it’s not here and I’m tired of dealing with this …» and basically told me to get lost too bad hung up on me — I’m a pretty low key non confrontational person so it’s just insane how people like this can still be employed and in business. I had my local UPS store call the corporate office who in turn called this UPS store and even with that no change — the corporate person even said «well that was a „treat“ (not) talking to them!» ha INSANE!

Wow… that had to be the quickest I was able to get in and out of a post office. The staff are fast, efficient, and friendly.
They have a 7^th window for just dropping of large to small packages which helps elevating long wait times.

There was only one employee there this morning and seemed miserable. He also gave poor customer service. I asked if I could print out a piece of paper from my email or Google Drive and he told me I could not in a derogatory fashion. He told me he never heard of a printer that connects via Internet or someone printing out a paper from an email address or Google Drive. I will go to FedEx or Staples instead for my business needs.
Maybe UPS should step up their game and have the same services as their competitors.

What i’ve noticed from UPS and other stores that offer a pack and ship service is the service is typically slow. I’m assuming this is because of the competition and the growing need to make everything digital.
That being said, the service here was okay in comparison with other stores in this line of business. It ranges dependent on the time of day. sometimes its empty and you’re in and out, other times you can be there for 20 minutes or more.

Slow staff, does not do notary and ignores you thereafter. Wasted a half hour standing in line for the staff to then say while standing next to the sign advertising notary that this service isn’t here and then called the next person.

I came in to return a small piece of equipment back to the cable provider, the girl at the counter just took the equipment and put unnecessary wrapping, gave me no estimate nothing. Next thing I know she has done the packing and is asking me to pay a ridiculous amount! Its not the money, but sucks to know you have been cheated! Should have asked her to remove the packaging, taken my equipment back and walked out!

This shipping center has the worst customer service. Very rude, couldn’t answer simple questions, and did not disclose important information.

This store is no frills, and is definitely in need of a serious makeover, but their staff is wonderful. Will gladly keep coming back here in the future. Good customer service trumps a shiny exterior!

If your package is important to you, don’t drop it off here.
I dropped off UPS packages on a wednesday. They were not picked up. The store claims the UPS driver refused to pick up their packages due to some sort of pettiness. They were not picked up the next day, either. No one notified me of any problem, and my complaints were met with «it’s not my fault.»
Now it is Friday, and the store claims they were picked up (even though tracking says they were not).
I am livid that my packages were just sitting there for two days. They were local deliveries, so I would have hand-​delivered them myself if I had known been informed was a problem.

I’m just glad I have until 7:30 pm to drop off my UPS package at this location. I did notice, why wasn’t the UPS guy behind the counter wearing brown?! It confused me.

One star for it costing me over $ 6 to fax 4 pages! INSANE…

My shipping skills aren’t great but they will be now, thanks to Edgar.
I went to four different stores looking for a double-​wall box to fit my oddly-​shaped, fragile item before hitting this store. They didn’t have the size I wanted but instead of just shrugging his shoulders and letting me leave, Edgar walked me through the whole process of how to score and resize the box – and how to wrap and tape the item, layer the cardboard and peanuts, including drawing me a diagram! (My ignorance was painfully obvious…
Notice I said «was.» After Edgar’s patient explanation, I’ve no doubt this package will reach its destination safely. So helpful and charming– wish I could use this location on a regular basis but as I’m in Brooklyn, it’s not meant to be.
Yes, the box was expensive – I winced when told the price – but so worth not running around the city like a fool looking for something that doesn’t exist.

Shipped a tube of posters at this location. The one star is because the employee was polite. However, only 1 thing was asked: put tape on the end of the tube before it ships (I didn’t pack the posters myself or I would have taped it). The employee assured me he would. Not only did he not do this, the plastic cap fell off at some point and someone slapped masking tape over it. I suggest you either go to a different UPS store or don’t leave until they do what you have asked.

Well, it’s not the worst UPS Store I’ve ever been to (that would be the one at 23^rd and 6^th), but it’s not great either. The employees are typically fairly surly (how dare you ask them to do their job!), but to date (*knocking on wood*), everything I have shipped from this location has made it to its destination on time and in one piece.
Word to the wise: if you need to have a box taped, do yourself a favor and swing by a drugstore to grab a roll, otherwise be prepared to get slapped with a $ 2 surcharge. Utterly ridiculous.

The last few times I’ve gone here they’ve either screwed up my order or treated me like crap. I still like the manager who tried to make up for his employee’s series of mistakes by not charging me for the botched copies and mistaken cuts.
After being burned repeatedly though, I think that they just need to hire competent people. I shouldn’t walk into the store and stand at the register alone and then after calling out, «Hello?» be told to come into the back so that some dude doesn’t have to get off his rear end while he eats a bagel. Don’t we both have work to do? Let’s make the process easier by both getting it done. Instead, I waste a day of walking back and forth from my office to UPS only to end up having a courier deliver my package. Lame.

Know this before you ship UPS– although UPS store locations display all of the UPS branding, they are franchises that are NOT supported by the UPS corporation (??!). This may seem hard to believe, but I found out the hard way, having shipped a snowboard at this store location, only to have my package suddenly become an empty box at the destination city. However, not only did the gift not arrive, UPS tried to blame ME for «faulty packaging», (hmm… packaging that jettisoned a snowboard near a ski resort town and the snowboard disappeared– it doesn’t take a genius to reach the conclusion that even if the box did open somehow, one of their UPS flunkies stole it). Anyway, not only did UPS not apologize, but to add insult to injury, the corporate office told me that they’re not responsible for paying the insurance I had bought and that I needed to take the matter up with the individual store owner and Mail Boxes Etc., the owner of the store franchises. After MANY infuriating phone calls between all of the parties mentioned above, the good folks at Mail Boxes Etc. even had the gaul to hang up on me. So, know that when when you ship and pay extra for insurance, UPS can simply «deny» the claim at their discretion if/​when they lose the package. Then, you have to fight tooth and nail. In the end, the manager of this store DID sympathize and get me the insurance money two months later (after I threatened the corporate office to take this matter to «7 on Your Side»). However, I have to completely ding the UPS customer service center and the company’s nonsensical policies. You might be asking «why ship UPS when FedEx is so easy and customer friendly” — I’ll let you reach your own conclusion…

I think this UPS location has slowly become Unilocal’s own shipping facility. But with good reason. Not only is it conveniently located, but the chap manning the front desk is the BOMB! He makes you realize how much you miss great customer service and just how rare it is you receive it.
I walked in at lunchtime today to ship a loaf of bread to my Dad (seriously, check out my review of Moishe’s Bakery for why.) After inquiring what exactly it was, he got me sorted out with a box and told me he’d stuff it with peanuts so my bread didn’t get squashed. In the meantime, another customer walked in and he helped us both seamlessly! At any other USPS or FedEx location, this would be, for whatever reason, impossible and would result in you (and them) waiting for 20 minutes. But he got him sorted on the copy machine, while simultaneously printing out my shipping label and receipt and ensuring my parents would be eating delicious Corn Rye Bread by tomorrow afternoon.
As Pete put it, with his personnel skills, he should be a concierge at a 5 star hotel, but we never want him to leave :(

THIS JUST IN! We realized there are two different UPS employees who excel at customer service at this location! We thought this was impossible in the city of New York!

I’ve been in too many FedEx Kinko’s around this city. Accordingly, when I step into a store like this, I have absolutely rock-​bottom expectations, as well as a little bit of fear for my well-​being. The UPS Store manager, I believe his name is Edgar, just rocked my world.
I had a number of items I had to mail to a colleague in California. As I was fumbling with one of the invoices, Edgar told me not to worry about that, and invited me over to the counter. He took the address from me, shrewdly found the return address on the box I was holding, and efficiently entered the information.
Although I had grabbed a padded envelope, Edgar quickly measured the box I had used as transport, and determined that it would be the same price to mail the stuff in the box, and less likely to damage my goods as well. So he deftly dumped my stuff in the box, expertly taped it up, and sent me on my way.
There is NOTHING happier than the tedious task you’ve been dreading turning out to be remarkably simple. This whole process took under 7 minutes, when it very well could have taken an hour. Best of all, Edgar did this while carrying on an intelligent conversation about the Mets.
Why yes, I do love him.
