Great food and great atmosphere. Would highly recommend the grass fed beer filet on a lava stone.

Located in the Financial District of Manhattan, The Porterhouse Brewing Company at Fraunces Tavern is a tavern and restaurant to stop at to enjoy lunch or an after work drink. With a large selection of whiskey or beers(three bars each having more than 10 open taps, in addition to a humongous selection of bottled beers) to choose from if you’re in the mood. Go for the rich dark oyster stout, which was my personal favorite. It’s sure to fill you up after an afternoon of sightseeing around lower Manhattan. The Porterhouse décor will take you back in time and the food(crab cakes and steak fries) was also tasty. The museum located next door is also worth a visit for a history lesson. Directions: N or R Train to Whitehall Street, or 1 Train to South Ferry, or 4 or 5 Train to Bowling Green in Manhattan

Cool place to grab a drink, the décor was rustic. There was a DJ playing some main stream music. There was plenty of room to sit even on a Friday night. I was drinking the Texan mule, the drink was either a hit or miss depending on which bartender made it.

Ok… day 2 of the NYC trip and decided to eat near the office. The Fraunces, which the Porterhouse is attached to, is where George Washington bade farewell to his officers. The Porterhouse served the same food in a building which is just as old, but has been remained as a small tavern The food was very good. I had the 14oz NY strip with truffle mash and asparagus. The steak had good flavor and was cooked to my order. The truffle mash, while good, was nothing to write home(or Unilocal) about. And I had 3 sprigs of asparagus… Overall, a good selection, if for no other reason than to say you ate here. My complaint: the dessert menu is very lacking… how about adding more than 4 items — one of which is cheese and the other is for two. Come eat here…

Brewery it is, but it is not the main focus. Good beers. Old world selection. Decent porters.

2nd time i was there on a week day, it was not crowded, there were tables available to accomodate a large party of 6ppl. Bartender was helpful but they seemed to be under staff. Either way we had a good time and the food was good. As for the music, the slection coumd have been better. I would go back and try more items from the dinner specials.

We happened upon this cool spot after leaving The Dead Rabbit in search of somewhere less crowded and more spacious… this place for the bill. The inside has a really nice atmosphere and it feels like the bar just keeps going and going. Plenty of seating is available and if you’re so inclined there’s a whiskey room just through a hallway. The staff was all very friendly and the bartender even let us snag seats at a table even though we weren’t planning on ordering food. All in all I’d definitely come back here for a relaxed couple of drinks with friends. Speaking of drinks, their beer/cocktail selection is pretty expansive and everything I tried tasted great!

This old classic never disappoints. My office is close by and this place is on my short list of pubs to go to for a beer or two!

This was our third time here and we definitely like. Had to go with the amazing chicken pot pies again. Perfect on a rainy January night. The beer selection has something for everyone and I was quite happy with the pour and cost of my tequila. Our waiter was great at spotting when we needed something and the music they played all night(’80’s) kept us super entertained as we tried to be the first to name that tune. May not be another full year before we return.

Beer selection is always good but bartenders don’t know what should they do. They always wash around and don’t care guests.

Grabbed snacks and drinks after touring Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Beef sliders. Veggie flat bread/white wine and local brew. Service started a little slow but once the bar in the front area got coverage we were ok.

Cute Irish bar in the financial district. All of the servers were Irish and super friendly. The beer menu is extensive and the food is delicious. Between my boyfriend and I, we ordered the cheese plate(which was huge), the beer cheese and pretzels and the branzino for two as our entrée. The branzino was cooked perfectly with a delicious topping of Swiss chard, capers and tomatoes. There was so much meat on the fish that we couldn’t finish it. There is also a museum on the top floor of the building, open Monday through Saturday.

Great beer selection. I recommend a flight of the house beers. Wait staff is attentive and friendly. Dark and rustic feel to the bar. Give it a try.

Excellent for date night. Went into this bar, as it was close to the DoubleTree hotel I was staying at in the area, and loved it. It was 1:00AM on a friday night and their tables have these cute candle center pieces on them. It was perfect. Great beer too. Relaxing atmosphere, music wasn’t too loud, and no one bothered us. Perfect.

Thufferin’ Thuccotash! — the bartender/hostess in the back bar is obnoxious. And the food is still mediocre. Don’t get the flatbread thing. Blech.

I don’t know NYC all that well, but if this was closer to me I would be in a lot. Back bar was pretty awesome for drinking and the place was lively throughout. No idea what the food is like, but as a place to drink it was buttertown. Lots of character.

I was staying in FiDi for work and we ended up here one night for drinks. There is a rather impressive beer list, both bottles and drafts. It is a bit dark and moody inside, part historical charm and part dive bar. There are different rooms off the main bar area which allow patrons to spread out. There are about 8 – 10 beers that are made by the brewing company affiliated with the bar(out of Dublin Ireland). I only tried one of the items, the infamous Oyster Stout. As much as I enjoyed it, I saw the temptation of all the varied bottles calling my name and ventured to that next. As a Bostonian, I was super pumped to see that Pretty Things had gained distribution at this bar — which is great, as it is a beloved brewery by my hometown and SHOULD be shared. But I digress, I opted to try some things that I hadn’t sampled before… including a cherry flavored ale out of a brewery in Michigan(name is escaping me for some reason). It was quite enjoyable. Overall, this was a wonderful stop during a night of catching up with friends. It was a short walk from my hotel, the place was not super packed(on a Monday night), but still had enough of a crowd to create a great chill atmosphere. Should my travels bring me back, I will stop in again. Reminds me a bit of the Warren Tavern in Charlestown MA(Boston), but with a much better beer selection. CHEERS!
