The Lounge is located in the Grand Hyatt. It’s a pretty small lounge but the only great thing about it is the view. The lounge is over the sidewalk of the Grand Hyatt and you get to see up and down the block from the bar. It’s only a floor up from the sidewalk. The interior design of the place isn’t great. The drinks are pretty pricey and the bartenders are a bunch of pricks. They were nice to us while we were sitting there and running up a tab. They got into our conversations about weed and other recreational substances. They defended their New York weed and we defended California weed. However, once we left, we hear them talking sh*t about us and insulting us. They were calling us dumba$$es and a few other names. It makes me wonder why they didn’t say that sh*t to us when we were sitting there and running up a couple hundred dollar tab. It’s unfortunate their bartenders lack any class or decency. I truly regret leaving a 25% tip. I wish I didn’t leave any tip at all. However, there have been other complaints about the spectacular bartenders’ service here. Therefore, my experience isn’t an isolated incident. If I wanted to experience classless behavior and lack of decency, I’ll go hang out with Donald Trump. Lastly, I wouldn’t recommend the Lounge. There are much better places to go for a drink and relax with better views and décor. I would recommend the bars at the Nomad hotel or even a local pub over this shitty hotel bar.

The Hyatt Grand Central is a great place in general. Their bar lounge is not too bad as well. Fast service and good drinks. The waiters can be a little obnoxious if you«look» like you’re not going to tip them. I say this because every time I’m there I always get a slight attitude from my servers until they see how well I tip them. Other than that it’s a great place to have quick business meetings or just grab a quick cappuccino.

What does a two star rating mean to me. I means don’t go here for the food. My lunch today was just this side of edible. But it was edible and the restaurant has some good points other than the food that might convince you to go(and even get me to go back). The air conditioning works and on a 95 degree day like today that is a major factor. The location is super convenient right next door to Grand Central. The restaurant itself is bright modern and comfortable. Oh and the service. Definitely not one of the perks that make up for the food. Passable at best. Like edible passable is not a great compliment in a restaurant.

Made it very clear I am deathly allergic to nuts. Ordered the kale salad– PLEASE no nuts! They bring it out with nuts and proceed to argue with me that there are no nuts. Until we put it right in their face. Happy I’m not going to the hospital now. To be fair, food was delicious(that which I could eat). Service abysmal.

Hyatt seems okay. The drinks are expensive, but not more than what you’d expect at a hotel bar. The location of the Hyatt itself seems to leave something to be desired, as it is way too crowded, but overall okay.

My boyfriend and I decided to grab a few drinks at the bar at the Hyatt before getting on our train. The bar was absolutely beautiful and we had a great time. Even the bartender seemed nice, that is until I looked at my bank account the following Monday. It turns out the bartender took it upon himself to add $ 20 to my already generous tip. Because of that we won’t be returning and we’ve made sure to inform all of our friends and family to stay away. If you decide to go pay cash and count ypur change!

Nice location, beautiful atmosphere, scam artist bartenders. As my girlfriend reviewed also, it was a nice place until we checked the credit card statement and found the bartender left himself a $ 20 tip on top of what we already left him. For that alone I can’t recommend this place.

I am appalled by the behavior of one of the waiters at the«Lounge at New York Central» this past Monday January 26th. My bf and I frequently dine here because it’s located in Grand Central, we can jump on Metro North after having drinks and wings. Service is great and the view of 42nd street is pretty. On Monday the bill was $ 125 so we left a $ 25 tip. Luckily my bf reviews his credit card activity and noticed the waiter helped himself to a hefty $ 75 tip. Needless to say the credit card company is handling the matter. I wouldn’t expect this kind of behavior from a waiter at the Hyatt — he was already given a nice tip why take advantage of customers who have been going there since 2010. I won’t be going back and I hope that the managers in the Hyatt look at thief they have working at the Lounge. Diners Beware! — look over your statements or pay cash — better yet don’t visit a place that steals from their customers. What a shame I really liked coming here before this happened.

I was staying at the Grand Hyatt and I ate dinner at this place all 3 nights that I stayed. Their salmon is to die for!!! I was beyond impress. The first night my meal did take about 45 mins to come, which true server was pleasant to offer me a glass of wine on the house. The second and third night my dinner came out in 15 – 20 mins I would say. The service was exceptional, I was always greeted and the bartender already knew my wine of choice :) This was truly home away from home ;)

The salad and appetizer were just OK. I loved the wine selection and the ability to order so many types by the glass. Nice décor. Cool attentive bartenders. Oh man but so pricey. Went during the Beatles’ 50th anniversary in February which was cool. If I went back, would only go for drinks. But not too many. My one glass of Lucente cost almost as much as the $ 21 bottle.

Dinner tonight was scrumptious. Burrata dressed with olive oil, black pepper and salt served on marinated yellow tomatoes, red grape tomatoes, olive oil and slivers of fennel. Damn. Damn. Damn. Perfect. The burrata was creamy, milky, perfect. Meatballs. Over cooked. Served too cool with too much tomato sauce. Ate two and left the rest. Hard to compete with the nigh perfect burrata. Two glasses of Malbec. Chewy fresh cranberry nut bread was served with creamy cold unsalted butter. The servers were professional and solicitous without being obsequious.

The Lounge is upstairs inside the Grand Hyatt where we stayed for a few days so it was a natural to eventually try it out for a night cap. What was very interesting and a let down at the same time is that they have all of these wine machines set up where you can pick a wine, insert your card and it’s supposed to pour you a taste. The selection was very interesting. But they didn’t work. When asking why they said that it was called a «NAPA» dispensing system, very expensive, but no one was using them so they stopped using them. Even while they are all still set up with the wine bottles connected. What a huge, sad waste. So when looking at the wine menu itself for getting a pour from the bar, it was way too expensive compared to the tasting machines. So we went with local beer. Very fresh pints of Brooklyn and smaller rarer brews at $ 8 each. People watching is great as this is up above the sidewalk where everyone is coming in and out of Grand Central Terminal. And they have no idea people are up here drinking and can see them so well.

Adjacent to the restaurant bearing the same name, the Lounge @ New York Central is a great way to cap off a day of work with some drinks and offers view that the dining concourse at Grand Central certainly can’t compete with. Most commuters inevitably walk under New York Central — the glassed-in protrusion — as they pass the Grand Hyatt Hotel on their way to Grand Central. There is no access from the Terminal… you enter from the first floor of the Hyatt and head upstairs. At the lounge, expect pricey, but tasteful twists on American classic and modern drinks. I ordered up their Manhattan derivative, an Elliot Ness(Maker’s Mark, Carpano Antica, and peach bitters, garnished with brandy-soaked cherries). My friend and I split a serving of chili-dusted bar nuts since we both ate prior, and relaxed to a great view of a bustling 42nd Street and Park Avenue. The ambiance is bright, shiny, and contemporary, and they have about six flush-mounted LCD panels above the back bar, serving up local news and sports. They have an abbreviated bar menu for light bites, consisting of nicely plated items like an Artisan cheese board, calamari, merguez sausage, and halibut ceviche. If you’re dining in the adjacent restaurant, expect a beautiful view of their glassed-in kitchen to complement their outside view. For wine enthusiasts, they have a tap system on the back bar, allowing service of 16 bottles by the glass, with another system and more bottles accessed by a card reader machine in a separate«unsupervised» lounge area. For that area, patrons can add money to their«wine card» and freely serve themselves drinks by grabbing some clean glasses, swiping their card, and dispensing their own selections without summoning a bartender or server. Overall we were pleased with our experience, albeit a bit pricey for frequent visits, but their atmosphere and friendly staff certainly make it worthwhile.

We got complimentary brunch tickets so we went here for brunch. It was good food and great that it was free! Our server was wonderful! She was so nice and attentive, it was great!

Great location overlooking bustling 42nd Street. Inside the Grand Hyatt New York, so a little pricey, but still somewhat of an undiscovered gem in my opinion. Good place to meet for after work drinks.
