Had my favorite drink: their spiced chai latte and was okay. Had a piece of the chocolate cake; again just okay. Relatively empty on Saturday night around 8pm. Place is a bunch of wooden chairs and round tables(Plain and boring). They could spruce the place up with some modern design touches by adding some decent furniture and décor.

I worked here in 1997… Good memories, good co-workers… Food never went to waste(was allowed to take home left-overs that would have been thrown away). The neighborhood regulars were generous tippers and friendly. It was HARD work, but a great experience for a 19 year-old starting out in the world. I learned the meaning of hard work here in the food service industry and I have GREATRESPECT for people who are serving us coffee and pastry, etc… It might seem like a «simple» job to those of you who haven’t lived the hard-knocks lifestyle, but let me tell you: people in the food service industry deserve BIGKUDOS! Much love to the Coffee Pot!

I had a couple hours to kill and some reading for class so came in this spot as an alternative to the mega-conglomerate Starbucks. or its chain imitators. This spot was extremely laid back and casual. Not as styled and clean as chains, but it didn’t have the cozy small shop feel either. It sort of reminded me of a college cafeteria or midwest rest stop café. Inside temperature was cool but not frigid like typical Starbeezy’s. They had a TV playing soccer(but with the sound off, THANKGOODNESS). Decent spot to kill some time where you don’t feel rushed out the door. The music was a little too loud for my taste, but I really wouldn’t have minded if so many people weren’t talking so loudly. I don’t know if I was just being hypersensitive but I could literally hear every word of the the convo’s of the people on the opposite side of the shop! Maybe its a little too close to Broadway because these fanatical theater girls sat near me, and chatted loud & animatedly for the whole two hours! I kept thinking I need to put classical music or ambient noise on my ipod just to drown out the banter(I get too distracted to study with my regular music) . Standard Ice Coffee for $ 2.75. There were FLIES buzzing around me(I didn’t have any food or anything appetizing) therefore I probably wouldn’t get any food here. you’ll be a fly magnet! I can only imagine that if I was getting pestered by the flies, they are probably making their way onto foodstuffs here as well. ICK. It’s a decent place to catch up with a friend/watch some sports if you have random down time in the area, or to study if you have your ipod on you..

I was looking for a place to relax read a book and work on some things. I didn’t want to go to your typical chain coffee spot because it just always seems to busy. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that The Coffee Pot had more of a relaxing vibe with TONS of seating. I snagged a futon in a corner and got a house blend flavored coffee. This is where my 4-star rating kicks in, my coffee was warm(not hot), as thought it had been sitting there for a while. Also, although there is free wi-fi, its only for 30 minutes. Since it is password protected you have to ask for the wi-fi password they give you a card with a code that will only last 30 minutes. I understand that someone might try to go in there and spend all day using the internet, but as long as they are a patron and have purchased something I dont see the reason to set a time limit on internet. All in all, its a nice place to get away and read a good book but not to work on a computer. In that case just go to Starbucks. Also, prices are like Starbucks(about $ 5 for a Chai latte).

On one very hot day in Hell’s Kitchen, I was looking for a place to cool down for a couple of hours between shifts. I passed many starbucks packed to the brim. The Coffee Pot had plenty of seating and there was barely anyone in there. It has now become my go to place between shifts. I can always find a seat, whether it be weekdays or weekends. I usually only get a coffee but the employees don’t mind me spending an hour or two on their comfy couches. I take off a star because I had a wrap here that wasn’t the greatest. It fell apart rather quickly, and there was something off with the taste. But if you are in midtown and just need a couple of hours to relax and chill out, then I would definitely recommend this place.

This is a decent breakfast spot in the Hell’s Kitchen area. I came here with my family over the weekend and got the everything H&H bagel with scallion cream cheese and lox and their iced chai latte. The bagel was great. I’m glad i got it with the scallion cream cheese because it went very well with the lox. The Chai Latte wasn’t really what I’m accustomed to; it tasted more like Chocolate Milk with cinnamon. My cousin took a sip and said it tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

i was a regular while living in my hometown NYC. An artsy bunch of people with sometimes way too much hyperbole. The coffee is excellent and the food pretty good. Many Broadway workers and wannabes. A great place to network, but don’t be too pushy. I am an artist and a Republican, lol. I was definitely in the minority. But, treated well by all. Pleasant place to make conversation or just curl up and read a book. Well, not sure ig u can actually curl up on couch. lol Maybe if u took your shoes off.

The search continues for a quiet coffee shop with character in Hell’s Kitchen. But peregrinating feet will flag if they pass by The Coffee Pot. Seating is ample, the coffee is alright, and pastries, cookies, breads, muffins, sandwiches, and cakes are sourced from perfectly good local shops. 30 minutes of wi-fi per purchase, and they won’t be jerks if you request another half hour later on. It’s a mediocre place to read and study, but mediocrity beats most other offerings in the neighborhood.

Despite the pretty average reviews there seems to be a consistent customer base when we arrive on a chilly and wet Wednesday afternoon to find most of the seating filled. We picked some spots by the window and had coffee. The coffee wasn’t bad, the service is meh but I really didn’t like the wrap that my boyfriend let me try. It’s got a pretty prime location and didn’t mind the view out to the street.

This coffee shop has a prominent location on the corner of 49th and 9th. I like their pecan pie, muffins, cupcakes, and coffee. Not the highest gourmet quality but good enough for a quick snack or dessert and a good value. The service is very friendly and they’re open till 11pm. I think it’s a good alternative to the half dozen generic Starbucks branches within blocks of it.

On a cold and rainy Wed. afternoon, my girlfriend and I took shelter at this humble little coffee shop. I had a simple order — a Vanilla Latte and a Bacon Ranch wrap. The latte wasn’t anything to write home about, but it hit the spot considering the circumstances. The wrap, while it was good and filling, was nothing more than a pre-made wrap that they stuck in the microwave before serving. And it still was cold in the middle :/ Though the outside of the café seems small, there were plenty of seating inside. The service was good — the employees behind the counter were very friendly, And they offer free wi-fi so plenty of people were just hanging out with their coffee and laptops. We chose to sit at the bar against the window and people watch. Mighty amusing.

My Americano was bitter. But the white chocolate blueberry cookies were delightful. There is more than ample seating even on the weekends. I thought it was overpriced, 2 Americanos(1 small &1 large) plus a 4 pack of cookies(small cookies, not those large as your head kind) was $ 8.50. I was thinking it should have been about $ 6. So, not the best coffee in the world, but overall the service was good, the atmosphere is cozy; would stop in again.

This place is my anti-Starbucks spot in the area. There seems to be a Starbucks on every corner, like all of Manhattan. This place is my refuge from the Seattle-based corporation. This places bagels are good, even though I could pay #1 less at the local bodega across the street. It’s a good place to people watch.

Came here to kill time before lunch. I got a café latte. Didn’t finish it because it wasn’t that great. Cost me about 3 bucks. Kind of a waste but the atmosphere was nice. I sat on the stools facing outside so it was nice just to look outside. They have computers that are accessible here. Not sure if it’s free though.

I had some time to kill before work one day and one of my friends did as well. We were getting sick of Starbucks and were only two blocks away from this place. The coffee is gross. I drink my coffee black in order to figure out if it is actually good coffee, not to mention I happen to like it black. I was sprinting for Starbucks after one sip. I am giving it three stars, however, because the bacon, egg and cheese I ordered was delicious. The bacon was not pre-cooked like most places, so it actually tasted great. The food isn’t bad, but to have a name like«The Coffee Pot,» and have crummy coffee, should be deemed false advertising.

Spending time at Coffee Pot is like hanging out in your mom’s basement. It’s a laid back coffee shop without pretenses. It’s in a relatively large space stuffed with sofas and love seats, high tables, low tables, community bulletin boards and Christmas lights. While not glamorous, Coffee Pot does not try to be trendy or something it’s not. And it is a welcome independent respite in a chain-dominated neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen. This is the kind of place where you take off your coat and stay a while. There is plenty of seating and tables are small, but big enough for a laptop. There are even three computers set up where you can purchase internet time. Wi-fi is not free, but depending on where you sit, you can sometimes hop on a surrounding network. Coffee Pot is not exactly an ideal grab and go café, simply because the beverages are nothing special. Granted my(Westsoy) soy latte was passable and less expensive than the surrounding chain, but it was mostly worth it to sit and sip and soak up the ambience for a while. The counter area up front looks like a cafeteria. It is very generic, stark, and cold, however, the employees are quite the opposite. There are plenty of food options available at Coffee Pot, ranging from bagels and muffins to cakes and pies, and pre-packaged cookies and protein bars. While only adequate, there is something charming about this place. It is not gourmet but it is also not a place to completely write off. If meeting a friend in the neighborhood, killing some time, or getting out of the house to do some work, Coffee Pot just might be the perfect spot.

Best coffee shop in midtown west, obviously. It’s the best place to go when you need to go to a coffee shop. Its coffee is okay, not gourmet. Its pastries are decent(especially the protein cookies! yum!). But what it is is a lovely place, with caring and friendly staff, where you can pleasantly sit and read. There’s free wifi if you buy something(just ask for the code), or there are those anywwwhere computer terminals. On rainy days you can sit for hours, you can meet with friends, or you can just recharge for a bit before heading back out into the bustle. It’s a great independent joint. Love it.

I love how big the space is and the options for sitting: regular tables, tall tables, and couches in the back. The prices are decent, and the pastry options are certainly there. The noise level is high — in a good way, I thought — and the music is very poppy. I’d say it’s a good place to meet up with friends but not necessarily to study. My one complaint was that it really didn’t have any… character. It kind of reminded me of what a stripped down café would be like. It did the job at the time, but don’t ask too much from this place.

I used to go here a lot to study, esp when I got tired of fighting w/other ppl to get seats and really needed to get some serious studying done. Pros: close to subways, lots of seating, good spacing between seats so you’re not on top of everyone else, internet access, relatively clean bathroom. Cons: BAD coffee(everything is bad: chai tea, every flavor coffee, lattes…) Bottom line: If you’re tired of Starbucks and want to support a neighborhood coffee spot, stop here. Expect to easily find a seat but don’t expect amazing drinks.
