As a part of our stay with the Holiday Inn next door, we decided to pay a little extra so we could get breakfast included in our nightly room charge. As a part of the Holiday Inn deal, you can select the standard breakfast, or have a pool of $ 20 worth of funds between both me and my wife to go towards the bill. On the first morning we had breakfast, we optioned for the standard breakfast which included a piece of toast, bacon, potato pieces & eggs to your liking. The toast was cold, the potato was cold, the bacon was cold, but the eggs were too bad. I would even go to the extent of the worst bacon I have ever eaten. Thinking that the standard breakfast may be just sitting in a warmer ready for the next customer that orders it from the hotel, the second day we decide to order something else of the menu to sort of get a better guarantee of breakfast freshness. I ordered the Denver omelette with white toast. I ended up receiving whole meal toast — or more like the bread was sat in the sun for half an hour, then thrown on a plate & called in toast. The omelette tasted like rubber & hardly ate it. The potatoes that came with it were a little warmer than the previous breakfast we got from here. Even though we have paid for our breakfast for the duration of our stay, we are now refusing to eat there again & would prefer to spend more money somewhere else to have a half decent meal. In saying this, I am sure you can guess my views on anyone who asks my advice in dining here.

Wings were OK. Bartender was disengaged and spent more time in a booth eating and rolling silverware or back in the kitchen than serving the few guests at the bar. Menu prices were way too high to tolerate the poor service. No wonder the place is always empty.

The saddest part about this place is that it really does have potential. The décor of the restaurant was nice, but unfortunately the service was ridiculously slow. We only came in for a quick drink, but it took forever just to get that. It looked like the one bartender was serving the entire bar/restaurant area — there were not a lot of people but she also was majorly taking her time and chatting a lot with other workers and people alone at the bar. With a bunch of other bars on the same block, The Bullpen should be one you steer clear of.

Well so far the other reviews are proving to be right, there is one person alone doing everything and sounds like one person in the kitchen. Ordered my sandwich over 20 min now and still haven’t received it, and there is only one group at a table in here with me. It’s not like they are busy, where most of the tables are filled. When my sandwich finally came it was the wrong one. Should I even continue this review. The dish was plated like something in a small dinner, not for a place downtown in this district. Sorry just can’t recommend or repeat.

Amazing service, super close to the NYSE and fairly priced enough for you bankers. It has a very home style menu that tastes like my grandmother’s breakfasts. There is not much room to sit and there was only one cook but he got the job done for 7 hungry co-workers of mine for a quick yet delicious breakfast. Highly recommend if you’re on a time constraint and missed your breakfast and need a delicious option down in FiDi.
