I only give them one star! They express dislike for anyone who has an alternative lifestyle. This is an organization that uses Unilocal to advertise.

This event was a chaotic mess. Too few vendors were really focused on us as a community, but just as GLBT people as another group they can hawk their wares to. One vendor even referred to my wife as my friend – insulting. There were a lot of nonprofit organizations represented, so maybe that has become a central focus for this event. But if that’s the case, they shouldn’t charge $ 17 admission. Waste of time. Waste of money. Won’t be back.

I came to this annual expo yesterday. It is a two day show with lots of organizations and corporations that showcase the diversity of the LGBT population and the businesses and services provided by and provided for the community. I was meeting the volunteer coordinator for the New York City Anti-Violence Project there so I called her. I get there and went in the wrong entrance because all I saw was the NYCFIRST Robotics Competition. They let me right in with no ticket and I knew something was wrong. I exited back thinking I had the wrong day or something. I called her and we met up. She let me know where the correct entrance was. We had a good laugh about the robotics competition since we both went to New York specialized high schools. Because we were there as part of an organization but didn’t get a table they let us have the $ 5 discount you could get on line. So the cost was $ 10 each for our tickets. There were national and local nonprofit organizations for the LGBT community such as the Human Rights Campaign. I saw one church but only because my friend yelled out to me. I had no idea I would see him there. There might have been other churches. There were lots of giveaways including: 1. Bud Light bottle openers 2. mini cupcakes 3. Free cups of Bud Light beer. 4. Free cups of Coors Light beer 5. Shots of Voli vodka in 6 different flavors 6. temporary tattoos that say I love my Honda 7. Free shoTs of rum punch with El Dorado rum a rum made in Guyana(formerly British Guyana) There were also various shows being put on throughout the day as well as performances by Cheer NY, the LGBT cheering organization. It was a good way to see what is out there, get some information and have some fun. We did manage to sign up some potential volunteers so our goal was accomplished.
