I have gone here a couple times and have always been satisfied! Their Tom Yum Goong soup, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and Pad Kee Mao are delicious! Their $ 9 lunch special is a big plus! I came here the day after the blizzard in the evening and it got filled up quickly. Great Thai food and attentive service!

Thai food here is okay. The restaurant has pretty interesting décor. It’s set up to almost look like the streets of Thailand. We ordered: Thai Iced Coffee — decent coffee, lots of condensed milk, very sweet Curry Puffs($ 4.50) — curry chicken & potatoes in puff pastry: These ‘curry puffs’ look like fried dumplings. The filling was delicious. It came with some chopped up bell peppers & cucumbers in vinegar. I guess it made for a good dipping sauce. Although it was hard to eat the cucumbers with the puffs. Quite a tiny serving with only 2 puffs. Pad Thai($ 11.50) — chicken, peanuts, bean sprouts, egg, chives: I always order pad thai when I try a new Thai restaurant. Eating pad thai is my way of judging a Thai restaurant’s level of competence. Theirs was okay. I’ve had better pad thai. Plus they had these weird mushrooms that I’ve never had in pad thai before. It kind of messed up my whole pad thai groove. I also wished it had more of that vinegar & fish sauce flavor. Skirt Steak($ 18) — marinated, sliced, with bok choy, chili garlic purée, sticky rice The steak was good. It was actually medium rare like we requested with a nice enough char. The bok choy soaked up some of the meat juice. The sticky rice came in a banana leaf. The food’s not bad and the service was pretty fast for a Friday night.

Consistently good food. The only issue I have is that their«spicy» food seems to have been adjusted for a sensitive palette.

I’m a long time customer of this place, perhaps for 4+ years now. I always go here if 1. I am in the area 2. craving solid Thai food 3. looking for an affordable spot. Thai Market might just be the best Thai option in the UWS area. The ambiance and décor is on point(decked out to look like a market in the middle of Thailand with random [but cool] knick knacks hanging from the ceiling). They have a $ 9 lunch special which includes an appetizer and entrée, which is an excellent deal. Solid options here are: Tom Yum Goong(I’m a sucker for a solid Tom Yum soup and this one is the best in the area!), Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Curry Puffs, Pad Kee Mao. The take-out option here is also very good! Everything tastes just as good as dining in– which is not the case for many restaurants out there.

They have really good food! Pad thai is always tasty. Gra Prow Kai Dow(pork) is soooooooooo good, my favorite here. Anytime I brought any friends here, they would just love it as much as I do! Not good place for dessert.

I loved this place. I’ve been there for lunch and i took a lunch special for 9 $ that include one appetizer and one main course. Then internal design is nice, mix modern stuff with old ones(like the names of real Thailand streets) The food is really good and not common!

Had an unpleasant experience with a group dinner last night and Thai Market’s consistently good food and service let me down. I invited a group of friends to TM for a New Year’s Day dinner. The dinner started off well with drinks at the bar — the bartender was very warm, welcoming, and professional — and our table opened up quickly. Food was good, but when entrees were delivered two took more than 10 minutes to arrive after everyone else had been served. This is awkward for everyone, both for the hungry people waiting for their dinners and those who have their food but want to wait to eat until everyone is served. Most of us had finished eating when the final dish arrived. Apparently, the salmon dish takes much longer to prepare, but this was not communicated to us. I asked to speak with the manager who was not friendly or helpful and he did not offer a complimentary drink or dessert for our inconvenience. His solution for us was to just not give a tip to the server! I’ve been a waiter and that is a b.s. «pass the buck» response for a manager to give, especially since servers rely on tips to pay their bills. I eat at Thai Market 20 times or more a year, usually with guests, and spend a lot of money here. This experience will lead me to visit much less often.

Taste great! Love pan-nang chicken curry and the dessert! My friends ordered the steak and the salmon, and both taste fantastic. Highly recommend!

My favorite Thai place in Morningside Heights. Their lunch specials are amazing. I love that it comes with an appetizer. I highly recommend their pad thai which is always solid and tasty. Prices are cheap, portions are big, and the food comes out quickly. What’s not to like?

This is one of the best places I’ve been for Thai food. It’s called Thai Market and it is between 107th and 108th on Amsterdam on the Upper West Side. They have really good appetizers as well as entrées. The restaurant itself is small with a bar, and the walls are covered with pictures of a market in Thailand. Super cute atmosphere and really good food. The walls are lined with pictures from street food in Thailand. 10 out of 10 pad thai. Also make sure you check out the lunch special. Really good food and good quantity for the price.

Ordered takeout from here with a group of friends, on a December evening. I had never ordered from here before, it’s a neighborhood joint, but the prices are a bit steep for the fare they are offering.($ 11 for a dish? $ 8 is the avg) We got two chicken pad Thais, a beef Pad See-Ew, a Tofu Pad Kee Mow, a sticky rice, a regular rice, a curry rice, chicken vegetable curry, and three tapioca coconut puddings. The food arrived promptly; however I was a bit disappointed when it arrived. The tofu and vegetables hadn’t been drained properly, and the noodles were kind of damp and soggy, strange consistency. Bleh. The curry was really SALTY(I have been noticing this with a lot of curry), and had the odd smell of urine. Whenever someone was carrying the curry around, it permeated the air in that room until it smelled like urine. I love tapioca pudding and was super excited– I was shocked at the overwhelming sweetness! Too sweet… My friends said that this place is usually good– however the quality has gone down by what I have heard. Don’t think I would order from here again.

My first time here. Ordered a ton of apps and 2 entrees. Love the concept of the restaurant. Very creative as far as the theme goes. Especially liked the menu. Service was friendly but a bit on the slow side. Food was not as exciting. We ordered the lamb from the specials menu we requested rare plus and the lamb came out medium well. It ruined the dish because it made the lamb very tough. They don’t even have steak knifes, was very difficult to cut the over cooked lamb. The goong chae nam Pla was super duper sour. You couldn’t taste anything but the lime juice. The tiger cry was also overcooked and the sauce again was sour. What I would recommend, the pad se-ew, and the loot chin ping, and the lynchee crème brûlée.

Food quality definitely went down. The goong chae nam pla was super sour. The crying tiger and lamb was over cooked. And i asked for the lamb to be rare! Very disappointing yesterday because i had talked about this place to my guest.

I can hardly get my fiancé to get Thai food when we’re in Houston, so when he was open to coming here when we were visiting, I jumped at the opportunity. We wound up here twice in a few days — the first time because we were killing time and Lychee Crème Brulee sounded delicious. Lychee Crème Brulee is just your typically vanilla crème brûlée with chunks of lychee fruit hidden in it. The sugar crust wasn’t as hard as I’m used to seeing on crème brûlée, but it was nice overall. I enjoyed the added texture of the fruit — it was definitely interesting and I would definitely eat this again. On our first trip we also tried the chicken satay and moo ping — both were pretty good. I preferred the moo ping, it seemed to have some curry and plum flavors in the sauce. The second time we went we tried the Tao-Hoo Todd and Pad See Ew. The noodles of the pad see ew were so soft! Definitely one of my favorite things about the dish. It was cooked in a sweet soy sauce so it was a little sweet, and since I didn’t finish all of the tofu in the tao-hoo todd I mixed that in with the noodles. The beef was slightly overcooked, but definitely not to the point of being inedible. I’m sure this place is going to be on the list of places we’ll definitely come back to any time we’re in the city.

This place is legit! Visiting NYC from Houston, I was ready to shell out the big bucks for anything and everything, however it was nice to see that Thai food in NYC costs about the same as Thai food in Houston! I actually split my Thai Market experience over two nights, since I had dinner commitment right after my first visit so I couldn’t delve too deep into the menu; however, I ended up going back the next day so I’ll just combine my experiences here: Moo Ping –Skewered pork, grilled and seasoned, I can’t say that I’ve had this appetizer in Thailand or at home with my parents, but definitely had some complexity of flavor to it. I don’t know If I was a huge fan of the spices though. It tasted fine, but it just wasn’t my thing. Tao-Hoo Todd –Fried tofu, how could you go wrong? I LOVED the random pieces of taro(watch out, sweet potato fries!) that were on top of the bigger pieces of tofu. They were so crispy and seriously tasted like interesting french fries. The tofu itself was pretty middle of the road, I think it’s because I like it when the skin is a little crispier and the tofu a little firmer, but I think that’s more Chinese style since the tofu that I got on the plate was pretty similar to the kind my parents make at home. BTW, the sauce was awesome. Chicken Sate –YES. Grilled perfection with peanut sauce for a couple of bucks. This a must have. Pad See Eew –YES. Never have I ever had some soft(fresh) flat rice noodles. They were AMAZING. The kana(chinese broccoli) was on point and had a perfect level of crunch to them. The beef was a tad overcooked, but whatever, the noodles made it completely OK that it was. Som Tum –I liked it, I don’t remember having so much sauce at the bottom of my papaya salad in Thailand or at home, but it was loaded with flavor. I think they could’ve dialed down the fish sauce a little bit, but its ok when eaten with the tomato pieces. Everything tasted fresh, the papaya was definitely crispy and how it should be. Lychee crème brûlée –LOL, I don’t think this is really Thai at all, but it’s definitely an awesome fusion idea. It looked like crème brûlée on the outside, but it had the random bits of lychee with each bite which was a nice surprise. I really enjoyed this dessert. I would definitely come back and bring friends the next time I find myself on 107th and Amsterdam!

Hm. Ok. So this place. I came here with a couple friends for dinner tonight. Friend #1 got the massaman chicken curry, Friend #2 got some other curry with chicken(both looked great), and I got the Siam duck — oooooh ahhhhh. Pros: the duck itself was really tasty and came with some awesome sides(veggies and mushroom rice), and most of the staff members were really nice. Not-so-pros: the music in the bathroom was perplexingly and completely unnecessarily loud. No idea what that was about. Also, at the end when we were figuring out how to split the bill, this one girl who worked there told us we couldn’t add the tip at the end, we had to choose it then and there by circling the percentage amount before they swiped our card. I have never heard of this before and there doesn’t seem to be a good reason for it at all.(And we weren’t even being annoying about splitting it — we were putting everything on one card). Also, my duck was cooked well but the sauce was WAY too sweet — overwhelmingly so — and I had to ask for a knife with which to cut it. All in all, it was an average experience.

My thai friends all vouch for Thai Market as the best Thai in the area. That must mean something! I’ve had the Pad Kee Mao, the Pad See Ew, and the vegetarian curry noodles that my friend ordered. Feast your eyes on the photos attached to this review! :) They also have incredibly affordable lunch specials at $ 8-$ 10. You can’t really beat that!

Used to be a huge fan of this place but the standard seems to have dropped, which is too bad. The portions for their lunch special have gotten significantly smaller over time(I was a regular customer when I lived around the neighborhood from 2013-mid 2015). They used to serve regular-sized entrees for their lunch special but alas, the current portions are barely enough to leave you feeling full and satisfied anymore. During my most recent visit with my boyfriend today, his Pad Kee Mao was about half the size of what it used to be. The poor guy is still so hungry right now that he’s literally eating a bag of Cheetos as I’m typing this. The quality of food there is decent. I used to think that they had the best Thai food in Manhattan, but I’ve since discovered other better Thai food on the east side. Compared to the other Thai restaurants in the Manhattan Valley/Morningside Heights area though, I would say that Thai Market is the best in that area. For the appetizers, I usually get either the spring rolls or the tom yum soup. And then either the Pad Kee Mao, Pad See Ew, or Sen Mee Neua Peuy for the entrees. Recently, I feel like the entrees have been bordering on salty and I’m usually really thirsty after eating there. Also, the Thai Milk Tea is unbearably sweet and gets sickening after a while. Overall, I think that anyone who’s living/studying/working in the area should definitely get their Thai fix here. If this doesn’t apply to you, then don’t bother taking the trip up just to eat here.

Incredibly diligent and friendly service from behind the bar by Lern aka«Double.» He was a great server and even shared a bunch of stories and advices on his home country of Thailand, and where I should go on my next visit to avoid the touristy spots. I had the Panang Curry, which was very satisfying!
