I had an awful experience here last night and thought I would share with the masses. I attended a Seinfeld trivia hosted by trivia ad. I frequently attend their trivia in various bars, so I’m fully knowledgable of the process and the duration of time the game should take. From the onset. I had a few reservations about this bar because in the confirming e-mail it mentions the mandatory minimum of $ 20 per person that attends the trivia, which is not a problem because I typically use game nights as my cheat day and eat everything on the menu. However, on Tuesday, I received a reminder e-mail that stated the trivia was 7 – 10 and to arrive early. The trivia is usually from 8 – 9:30 and the people from trivia ad start promptly and always finish on time. Arriving early wasn’t an issue, as I work two blocks from the bar, but upon arrival I noticed a line just to be seated. The man who was checking the guest list reminded everyone at least twice of the $ 20 as this became the theme of the night, opposed to the game. I saw the sign in at least four different places, the waitresses mentioned it, and became rather exhausting. Anyhow, they clearly way overbooked the trivia and it led to a huge delay and frustrated various patrons. Instead of having a host and score keeper, the score keeper was forced to split the game in half because their were no more seats upstairs. So what should have been one hour and half turned into about three hours of trivia. They had two servers, who were also the bartenders, that is clearly not enough for the crowd, but I’m sure helped the bars bottom line. It became abundantly clear the bar put money over providing a joyous trivia for the customers. I ordered food around 7:45 and didn’t receive it until around 9:10. The final part of the meal came around 9:45. Initially, I was angered with the bartenders, but it clearly was not their fault and the blame was on management. Lastly, albeit we were forced to be packed in like sardines; the bar had a poor ventilation system and it was extremely warm and uncomfortable being in there for a such a long time. I suggest management re-think partaking in hosting trivia events because last nights experience was by far, the worst I have ever experienced!

Traditional pub, nothing great about it. Not much crowded. I am giving 2 stars because a friend of mine ordered beer from tap and he said that it smells like a dirty sock.

I had an enjoyable time, but this is just a typical bar. It seems to be a popular after work spot for young professionals.

Comete garbage: they had 20″ tv’s for World Cup!!! The manager was an A hole and lectured us for being late. Thanks dad. The beer was stale and the place smelled like urine. Food overpriced and swimming in Grease. There are SO many better pubs for sport watching nearby, don’t waste your time

I came to watch a world cup game and not only was the man on the phone VERY rude when I tried to make a reservation, but was EXCEPTIONALLYRUDE when we showed up! And the two tiny tables he had saved for our party of 8 had no stools. When we asked for some he gave us even more attitude. I would never waste my time at that bar again!

Go-to after work happy hour spot. The bartenders are all incredible and they have 2-for-1’s until 8pm, how can you go wrong? Also, you can use the coins they give you after 8! So everybody wins! Have spent many a night here, and I am never disappointed. Some random Thursdays or Fridays are more crowded than others, but it is always a good time. They have big buck hunter and another video game that I don’t play, but they are there. The bathrooms are clean, and there is some fun writing on the walls, my favorite being«hot mustard.» You wouldn’t really come here to sit and eat a meal, unless it’s at the bar. They do have food, the sliders are amazing and I am not even exaggerating when I say that this is my favorite quesadilla out there. They used to do karaōke on Fridays, but have since switched it to Saturdays. All in all, great place for after work drinks, not a rowdy crowd, you won’t get annoyed at anyone here, everyone just wants to have fun. I cannot stress enough how great the bartenders are. I once left my wallet here and was able to pick it up the next day. They are on top of their stuff — really the best.

Not impressed. After work on a thirsty Thursday, a bunch of us decided to go to Happy Hour. 2 for 1s are always a good selling point, but walking into a stark bright bar with awful(and I mean awful) music is not. Apparently there’s karaōke on the weekends, which may actually provide better music than what we experienced on Thursday, but I will not be coming back to find out. Back to the hunt of finding a great Happy Hour close to work…

My friend and I popped in this place on a Monday night around 9pm. They didn’t offer any specials, but Miller Light drafts were only $ 4, which seemed reasonable. Courtney, the bartender, welcomed us without pretense. She friendly and polite to all of the patrons, including us. There was ample seating and the bathrooms was pretty clean.

St. Patrick’s day. Really a zoo of a day. The city was going crazy, it was snowing and cold outside, and crowded and sweaty inside. That said, they did an amazing job keeping up with the orders, throwing out belligerent drunk 20 years olds, and playing great music. We had a really amazing time here, and I had my fill of beer. I’m not a beer drinker but honestly since St. Patty’s day 2013, I am very inclined to imbibe beer. Bitter, dark, deep, deliciiously thirst quenching beer. Sigh, now nice to discover a new love. TG Whitney’s needs more bathrooms. That’s my only quip. Beer makes me want to pee.

I’ve been here for a few private parties and the staff is always pretty pleasant. We usually have all you can eat and drink(beer) for $ 50 per person with tip included. The bar itself is pretty lively and usually packed. They have drink specials during happy hour(but which bar doesn’t). There are a lot of TVs in the bar, which is nice.

Great for Happy Hour with their 2for1 specials. Small, local place but can get packed in a hurry. Never had issues with the staff and bartender was always available and friendly. Can have its empty days but thats fine by me cause most of the time we have a big group and need the space. Nice place to start off the night before moving on to bigger and better.

Had after-work drinks here, boring is the only word I could think of. Really absolutely nothing stands out even for a dive bar standard. However it might be good if you like watching sports, or playing some old-fashioned arcade game.

Average place, quiet and perfect for a catch up with a friend on Mon-Thurs, but super packed during the summer on Fridays. Staff is pretty nice and the 2 for 1 isn’t too bad either. They offer typical bar food as well, if you’re starving. Good for after work drinks! I’ll be back.

Came here because my friend said its rated one of the best Monday Night Football bars in the city… Came around 6 and was practically the ONLY person in the bar… the 2 at then end seemed like regulars and then there was another group further down seemed to be doing some business proposal. Was there until about 10 minutes before game time — thought more people would show up. We ordered a beer(2 for 1) and the sliders as well as the buffalo chicken strips. Was NOT a fan of the food. very poorly made. even for bar food. The only thing that really gives this place any more than the 1 star is the 2 for 1 drink special. My friend was extremely annoyed by the rude bartender and what seemed to be a local customer… Not impressed, nor will I go back. OH — I’ll also give a star for big buck hunter in the back. freaking love that game!

This is a quite ordinary bar on a street with lots of Japanese restaurants, «piano bars,» and other strange things. On Thursday from 9 to 2AM, it was almost empty. I’m guessing it survives on the after-work crowd. There’s a few TVs, a few benches, a long bar. The beer offerings are as common as Yeungling and Sam Adams. The food offerings are passable, but not spectacular: wings, quesadilla, fries. Seems like a good hangout for the occidental servants of the rich folks who shop around the corner at Bloomingdale’s. What kicks the joint up a star is Erin, the bartendress. Holy cow! She’s alone, serving everyone, and she does it with such casual humor, jokey friendliness, and genuine concern, you’ll want to adopt her as your sister. Drink enough and you may get that extra shot. If you don’t you won’t care. Just spending a few hours in Erin’s company makes the otherwise generic trip here worth the beer. –Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers

In celebration of winning 3 games tonight(Volleyball) We decided to have a drink. A friend recommended this spot. Showed up 20 minutes before HAPPY Hour 2 – 1 beer was about to End(perfect Timing!) At the end of the night. Bill came out $ 80 bucks** meaning that each of us just took out $ 15.00 dollahs! The bar is pretty clean, But I heard the Restroom smells. Definitely will come back if I’m around the area.(Bartender is pretty cute and polite!) — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — * Total was 4 appetizers, forgot the last one. sigh… ** Tip was not included.

There is nothing special about T.G. Whitney’s. Except the pint of Hoegaarden I had on tap was especially bad — as if it came out of a dirty keg. I meet one of my friends here occasionally because it is equally convenient to where we both live, but there is just nothing memorable about the place. Not the beer(except, as indicated above, I would recommend ordering a bottle if the draft Hoegaarden is indicative of the quality of the other beers on tap), not the music, not the atmosphere. The 2 for 1 special on Wednesdays brings in a bigger crowd these days but the crowd is always kind of «blah», just like the bar. If you live in the area and want to grab a few beers with a friend, it’s a good place to chill as it doesn’t get crazy packed like some of the other bars in the area. But if you want a really memorable experience, either be prepared to make it yourself or go someplace else.
