Got the Teriyaki thigh box. It was to my surprise, very good. The skin was crispy which complimented the chicken, which was all complimented by the wasabi salad.

Great food, always consistent so I have no complaints. It’s pretty small and kind of hard to bring a big group, but for delivery and pick up, they are extremely quick.

Started out great but has SERIOUSLY fallen from grace. I loved this place both the first iteration and the second but I’m really tired of the hit or miss nature of the food. At first the chicken was always cooked to perfection but as of late it’s often overcooked, dry and hard. Can’t even be helped by slathering Siracha! TB, if you’re gonna charge folks $ 9 plus dollars for chicken, rice and salad take the time to and effort to prepare it properly! I think you guys have lost me…

This easy to miss tiny spot in mid town yakitori place is a gem. Luckily it’s not overly crowded when we visited because it’s small and could easily be filled up. Amazing place for simple yakitori and beer.

Guy at the cashier was very helpful. Got the half chicken breast, half salmon. Salad and ginger dressing were great. Rice was delicious and sauce was tasty. However meat(both chicken and salmon) were overcooked, and, I mean, the only reason you go to teriyaki is the sauce… and there definitely wasn’t enough of it.

When this place opened the food was spot on, however after a few months I noticed the quality of the meat was becoming hit or miss. The chicken started to be served over cooked as well as the salmon. There were times the chicken was even slightly UNDER cooked. Not safe :-(but between a great salad and an even better sauce I still continued to come here because when the food hit, it hit very well :-) However…it wasn’t until my experience with the current cashier girl(as I type this) that really made me quit coming here. I noticed after a few visits the mistakes she was making. She sometimes messed up an order placed by co-workers of mine or while she is on her cell phone I would have to repeat my order because she wasn’t paying attention and let me not forget the time she was sick and coughed in her hands then handled the exchange of money right after… So what really did it in for me… Well Teriyaki Boy has a rewards card system where after you buy 9 meals the 10th is free. It is determined by this after the cashier girl stamps your rewards card for each meal bought. On a mistake on her part when I bought my 5th meal she stamped #4 again… I didn’t think nothing of it other than the fact that she messed up and I continued going. So after a few more trips I finally reached 9 stamps for 9 meals that I paid for, however… I was told by the same cashier girl that it must have been a mistake and refused to honor the 9 stamps that not only she stamped and was clearly visible but they were 9 meals that was paid for. I said well then no thank you and I walked out! As long as she works as the cashier I will never go back there and my co-workers at the United Nations agree. A mistake on your part should not constitute as a penalty for me.

I had the chicken thigh teriyaki box. It’s a bed of rice with some grilled chicken with teriyaki sauce on it, plus a side of lettuce with some dressing. You get a big box, but that is about all that’s good with it. The chicken is edible, but on the dry side and a bit tough. This is nothing like the Teriyaki Boy I had years ago. To top it off, the staff was not welcoming, and I felt like they wanted to get me out of there as quickly as possible. This is nothing like a Japanese restaurant. Avoid going here.

I tried the Avocado Teriyaki. Perhaps its my fault for assuming that it would consist of more than a sliced avocado on rice and a little bit of lettuce. I was shocked that they would charge $ 10 for essentially 1 avocado!

It’s decent and, more importantly, authentic Japanese Yakitori. If you know what I mean, you should try it. In Manhattan, this is a bargain price.

Definetely not Teriyaki Boy from the past. When the salad was the best part of the meal you might be in trouble. Had the chicken teriyaki for $ 10. Chicken was dry, hard and bland tasting. Not worth $ 10.

First time for everything right? This will probably be the last time too. I got the chicken breast teriyaki and it was completely dry and hard. The price is descent for the amount you get, but dried chicken teriyaki is not what I ordered.

The food is great but I’ve already experienced 3 times a bad time with the cashier, she doesn’t have a service attitude she mixed the orders and gave me something I didn’t order, then got mad and didn’t apologize when she realized her mistake, other day I was about to take a knife and fork and she said I already had one in my bag and didn’t allowed me taking one, when I was about to eat: surprise! I had no fork and knife. She is always in a bad mood. Knew that from my colleagues as well. Everybody’s opinion about her is the same

I tried Teriyaki Boy on a whim when a couple of my go to spots were closed on a Saturday. What a great surprise! The chicken teriyaki with rice and salad(and a coke) was about $ 12– a great price considering the meal was awesome, and came with two huge full grilled breasts! I couldn’t believe the amount of chicken! Some comments said they used to be on the west side, and charged like $ 4 for a meal. Meals of this calibre are simply worth more in NYC, and about $ 10 is more than fair. I can almost make two full meals out of this. The menu is not huge and there are only standing tables, but these guys are the real deal and know what they’re doing. Definitely coming back.

Great spot for lunch. I went at 12:30 with little wait. It’s a bit off the beaten path for the midtown east business crowd(I had to walk for 15 min to get there) but I was craving good teriyaki. I paid $ 9.50(which included tax) for the chicken thigh teriyaki and it was a lot of good quality food(my lunch box was heavy… and presentation was nice). It’s a tiny hole in the wall; so just prepare to grab your food and go.

After writing my review of Hibachi Dumpling, I discovered that a Teriyaki Boy opened up on 45th St., near 2nd Ave. Feeling nostalgic, I decided to check it out. I loved going to Teriyaki Boy before they closed. They served good food at a great price. Well, the newly opened place got the good food part right. I remembered getting chicken teriyaki over rice at the older Teriyaki Boy, with broccoli and some ginger for about $ 5. I got a chicken teriyaki box(thigh meat) for a little more than $ 9(with tax). In their defense, there is much more chicken in the newer version(with less rice), and salad. The chicken was really good. The salad was basically greens with red onion. When they ask if you want cilantro in your salad, say yes. It does add a nice flavor to the salad. I also had the ginger salad dressing, which was okay. There are no chairs here, so you basically either eat standing up or take it out. Tudor City Greens is two blocks away, and is a nice place to eat. I’d recommend going there on a nice day.

Teriyaki Boy has been a great inexpensive great lunch option in the midtown area back when it used to be on 48th and 7th ave. For an average price of $ 3.99, you can get great meals like teriyaki chicken on rice with salad /udon with chicken cutlet /curry udon and also some great snack fillers like edamame, sushi and my personal favorite: the Onigiri rice balls. For that kind of price in midtown was a godsend to anyone who wants to dine on the cheap. Teriyaki Boy was like that fun kid at the park that was always smiling and fun to be around. Everyone loved him because he wasn’t complicated and easy to hang around. Then he died ;__’ After many years of closing down, TB has rose from the grave and migrated to the midtown east area. it’s the same in a way that it’s ran out of a small 15ft x10ft shop and you can smell the teriyaki chicken as soon as you’re on the block but thats as far as similarities goes. TB isn’t that sweet child you knew anymore. New zombie TB charges $ 9 + tax for a teriyaki chicken, rice and salad. More than double the price of what it used to be, you’d think it’s got to be better. Sure, yes it’s cooked on a grill with nice smoky char marks which taste great but it’s way too much for $ 9 in my opinion. Having the price jacked up more than double of what it used to be really hurts my wallet and my heart. Zombies may look like the same on the outside, but it’s already dead and without a soul on the inside.

This place is a reincarnation of Teriyaki Boys in midtown west and it’s definitely good to see them back. Now located in midtown east and close to my work, this spot has changed its style to quality instead of quantity. So far, I’ve only ordered the chicken teriyaki thigh box but my co workers and I had it 4 times. The chicken thigh grilled skin side down leaving crispy yakitori style skin and then dipped into the teriyaki sauce will leave your mouth watering for more. Also, this is an authentic Japanese spot. .. not the crappy chicken teriyaki’s you get at the deli’s around here.

So I always have a hard time trying to find a cheap but good lunch spot around this area. I was skeptical at first about the quality of the food here because of the name of this place(it sounded like a fake Japanese place) but decided to try it after my colleagues, which included Japanese people, recommended this place. I went during dinner time but got the chicken thigh teriyaki box -$ 9.25 including tax– to go and it was really good! And I also love the wasabi dressing that comes with the salad! During dinner time, more tables get added and the place transforms into a standing bar. And because there’s no seats, I was told that they wouldn’t be charging tips at all. That’s always an added bonus :) I’ll definitely come here and try the other dishes on the menu, like the teriyaki and kushiyaki. They looked so good on the charcoal grill. One thing for sure is that, Teriyaki Boy, you’ll definitely be seeing more of me in the coming days!

This place was reasonably priced. I got the chicken teriyaki lunch box for only $ 8.50. The amount of chicken they gave was very much proportionate to the rice. Not to mention, the chicken was amazing!!! It wasn’t like your typical chicken teriyaki from your local Japanese joint. I’m definitely coming back for dinner to try their yakitori!!!
