Sadly, my favorite restaurant has closed! They haven’t updated their web site, but it’s gone for good.

Every time I come back to NYC, I drop by Teodora… It’s been here for decades, and there is good reason. Great pasta and great service in a cute little shabby, chic venue. My favorite is the baby artichoke salad with lemon, oil oil and Parmesan. Simple and delicious. I have not found any other places that go through the trouble of making this salad. Then, I usually split a pasta dish(or plan on taking the rest home because portions are quite large) and a meat dish. I have yet to order something I don’t like… though minus half a star for too much salt… I would give 5 stars for their wonderful service… They have several staff that cater to your every need during the entire dinner. For a local mom and pop, it’s amazing to have this service level. Definitely a nice spot to take a break from all the big retailers and office buildings in the area…

Great find on a busy street in Manhattan. Service is very good, atmosphere is comfortable and quiet. Food is excellent. Salads are outstanding, main courses great as well. Radicchio salad, artichoke salads — two types — really excellent. Steak cooked as ordered. Vegetables tasty. Really an excellent place for a quiet dinner with friends.

If you don’t get the Lasagna… You have made a mistake. The ravioli is great. So is the gnocchi. BUT I have come here with some very proud Italians, obsessed w this lasagna, and finally, as a vegetarian, I’ve let it go and made the decision to try it. Unbelievable. Don’t even worry about anything else. Also, ANY wine, at any price, has been very nice

This is a very awful food experience. The two stars are for the excellent service. Who put fake crab meat like those that are in sushi rolls into an Italian pasta??? If they ran out of crab in my lobster shrimp and crab pasta, then don’t bother putting fake crab meat in to «make up» for the lack of crab meat. Just let me know and I will order something else. Oh and my mussels appetizer, half of the mussels still have unopened shells aka raw. Extremely awful food. I am not going back again.

Very cute, unassuming, almost hidden Italian restaurant on 57th Street. My first experience was a work dinner upstairs, where we had a group of about 12 together. We ordered a little bit of everything and it was all delicious. The menu is pretty reasonably priced for the quality and area, with homemade pasta dishes around $ 20, fish dishes around $ 30, and steak dishes up to $ 40.

I only get pasta from this place — it is such a cute place on 57th street on the east side. If you want a lighter pasta dish, get the FAZZOLETTODIRICOTTA E SPINACI… it’s triangle-shaped ravioli filled with ricotta cheese and spinach in butter and sage sauce. If you want a hearty filling dish that warms your soul, get: GNOCCHIDIPATATE E SPINACIAIFORMAGGI(gnocchi infused with spinach over melted cheese, or for seafood lovers, TAGLIOLINIAICROSTACEI(egg noodles with shrimp, crab meat and lobster meat ragout in a light tomato sauce).

I was recommended to take my parents here by a friend– made reservations but not even necessary– the entire place was deserted the entire time we were there! This made me have my doubts about the place, but the food, service, and genuine staff proved that wrong. Our waiter was very accommodating about tailoring our entrees to our specific requests, and was attentive to our wine glasses throughout the night. Food was fresh and authentic Italian. Only improvement keeping me from ranking 5 stars is the strange strange interior décor– felt like a victorian doll house which didn’t match the food and service.

Attentive service, attractive in the back of the restaurant, and fairly priced. Lasagna was dense and tasty, ringed with tomatoes and basil. Alas, risotto reminded me of freeze dried Boy Scout campout food– rice not slowly and fully cooked.

Solid authentic Italian restaurant well worth 4 stars. We split the parmigean(sp) soufflé appetizer, a dish we’d never had before, and found it both unique and quite tasty. Seafood salad was above average. Service was great. We will return to try other dishes if we again find ourselves in the area.

This is a very quaint little Italian restaurant in midtown. The restaurant is an authentic Italian with an emphasis on freshness which you can tell from the taste and texture of the food. The mussels were outstanding and would definitely order them again, or possibly return for them alone. The rack of lamb was very good and perfectly seasoned. The reason for the four star, the service was slow and lets say a bit inattentive.

Teodora is a quiet Italian oasis in the middle of Midtown Manhattan. The service was great and the food was all very tasty. The fried eggplant with parsley was very good as was the mixed green salads. We then split the fazzoletto(basically large diamond shaped ravioli with spinach and ricotta) and the tagliatelle was great with an excellent meat sauce(the portion was also unusually large, which I appreciated). It’s tough for a little Italian place to stand out in NYC, but Teodora stands out as a calm, quality Italian spot in the middle of Midtown bustle.

Great place for low key traditional Italian food in Midtown. Way better than the chain crap in and around Times Square and more affordable than similar options. We had pastas and wine and even had a few desserts. The staff were fun and even funny. Just a cute place where you know you’re going to have a great meal. The little tables in the back struck me as best but these were reserved when we walked in on a weekend night without a reservation. We had a nice table in the window. Great place for comfort Italian.

Service was very subpar. The salmon was too dry. the taglioni ai crostacei was too salty. for some unknown reason. as if they made the sauce with sea water or something. meh.

I will round up to 4 stars since as long as I am living in the neighborhood, I’ll likely be back. Minus a star for slow service(20 – 30 minutes for entrees. Lasagna is quicker.) This was my second visit(photos courtesy of my brother). All pasta dishes(fatta in casa aka homemade) are delicious and while a little steep at $ 20 per entrée vs other great Italian places, portions, freshness and quality sum up the value. INSALATADIMARE $ 17.00 Seafood salad with calamari, shrimps, mussels and scallops. Mixed with spinach, tomatoes, onions and celery in a lemon vinaigrette. STRICCHETTICONZUCCHINI, GAMBERI E PECORINO $ 19.50 Yummy chewy consistency a little like spaetzle. TAGLIOLINIAICROSTACEI $ 22.00 2nd time ordering this. First time was a special served with a fish vs crab, lobster, shrimp ragout. Fresh thin egg noodles. STRICCHETTICONZUCCHINI, GAMBERI E PECORINO $ 19.50 Tasty, garlicky light sauce with the right blend of zucchini, shrimp and noodles. Shaped like bow ties but tastes a little like dumpling skins, in a good way. Wines are well priced at $ 9−11/glass. Pasta has been consistently good, but I’ve never ordered the Pesce or Carne ranging from $ 23-$ 39. Ossobucco and the veal are on my to-try list. While lasagna is their signature dish, I’ve seen photos/customer’s dishes and not super impressed to try. Desserts are ~$ 9 each. Tiramisu is just OK but 3 waiters will sing ‘Happy Birthday’ upon request, haha.

This place is a hard 4⁄5 stars. Great experience, lovely setting and good food. The food was very good. Started with the mussels and clam. The size of the mussels and clams in itself was very nice but the broth was done extremely well. Rich and flavorful with a pleasant saltiness. In conjunction with the bread to dip in the broth, the appetizer was very much enjoyable. For the main, I had the rack of lamb and she ordered the shrimp and artichoke risotto. The temperature of the lamb was cooked perfectly, slightly bland on the seasoning, but matched with garlic spinach and baked potato wedges, this was a great meal. Her risotto was, in my opinion, slightly on the watery side. Doesn’t match my taste personally but it had plenty of shrimp and tons of flavor. From the moment we entered, the service was excellent. The staff was very knowledgeable and attentive throughout the course of our meal. The atmosphere at Teodora is very cozy and quaint. Almost like being in an old, southern home. As a whole, our experience here was fantastic. I’d certainly recommend Teodora to the next person.

I came here for a bridal shower and I must say that this is an ideal place for a gal who’s about to get married. They have a private room, which is always a plus for parties, right? The spinach salad was light, topped with thin slices of cheese and crumble of walnuts. The salmon had great texture — it softly broke apart with a touch of my fork. Yet, with every bite I was able to taste the softness with a bit of crunch from the fried exterior. The downfall is that it’s only enough room for at most 40 people(amongst 4 tables). It does get a bit crowded but you’ve been warned! And because we went in the midst of summer and it was crowded small room, the AC was not blasting high enough to compensate for the heat.

Just had a bridal shower there and our guests(myself included) cannot stop singing Teodora’s praises. The food was good, wine selection was vast, private room was quaint, and service was superb! Only one star off for it feeling a bit aged/outdated(chairs and floors need to be cleaned/replaced). All and all, we had a stupendous experience and will highly recommend to anyone throwing an intimate gathering. Extra Thank You to Manuela and Roberto; total pleasure to work with.
