I was frustrated with the tennis opportunities in NYC and also how I flashed my money down the toilet with Koko and TennisNYC. I spent 250 $ for first evaluation, which was disappointing, when the guy came to evaluate me, he didn’t play much better than me, even though I’m 3.5 level. After evaluation Koko require to pay 90 $ for scheduling the game, which was once a week, and most of players were not my level. Besides it, you are paying for the court with the person that you were matched. So basically you pay 90 $ a month for really not much of a work(4 games a month if I’m lucky). easier to go to the courts and meet people and ask them to play with you.

I joined TennisNYC because a friend of mine was joining and convinced me to do the same. I hadn’t had an opportunity to consistently play in the city, so thought this would be a great opportunity. There is an initial sign-up fee of $ 140 which includes your«evaluation» and monthly membership of $ 90/mo which covers absolutely nothing other than being paired with a partner. You are required to be a member for 4 months. Upon joining, I was also told there were free drills + lessons given throughout each season, which sort of legitimized all the cost. Come to find out, however, these don’t exist. On top of all this, you have to pay the court fee each time you play(indoors is about $ 50 each time). Three weeks after I joined the league, my doctor told me I needed surgery. I immediately contacted Koko(the woman in charge of the league) and asked she postpone my monthly membership until after I recovered from surgery. I didn’t want to pay $ 90/month for months I was physically unable to play, but I had no problem fulfilling the 4-month requirement, it was just not going to be 4 consecutive months. She was completely unwilling to budge and in fact took the 2nd month fee out without me realizing it. This is no way to run a business and she lost a customer who would have been a long-time member of TennisNYC. I would highly recommend joining one of the MANY other tennis leagues in the city over this one!
