They tried to charge me sales tax on the purchase of a baguette. Serves them right they’re out of business.

I never ate a breakfast so expensive!!! I went to this mini restaurant on June 12. I order French toast with egg, Ham, and beacon. I also order a ginger tea with lemon… 27.65 $!!!

Terrible croissants($ 2) at 8 pm. The croissant was dry, cold, and dense.

Small quaint little café you wouldn’t expect on Broadway. I have visited this spot twice and each time has been a great experience. Once for breakfast and once for a snack and a smoothie. This is a rather small establishment with about 4 tables that seat about 2 people each. They do have wifi which is always a plus. The moment you walk in order food and coffee you forget you are in Harlem. It reminded me of small coffee-shops I would visit when I lived in Portugal. They do breakfast, brunch, lunch, and everything in between. They also have fresh pastries as well from cheesecake to apple turnover. This place is so amazing I am scared to share my hidden gem with too many people.

This place is my new favorite. I had one of the best croissants I’ve ever had(warmed up with butter), delicious fresh-squeezed orange juice, and some great coffee. The staff was incredibly kind, the music was amazing, and I got lots of work done. Thanks Tanto Dulce Café!!

This was my first time ever having food at Tanto Dulce Café. I usually stop in on the go and grab a coffee(which is also delicious) Brunch starts at 10am, but we were able to come in a little early, have some coffee and then place our orders. I ordered the vegetable omelet. My eggs were served with mixed greens and potatoes. My eggs were light and fluffy and full of delicious veggies. I left feeling satisfied and not overly stuffed. Very pleasant experience, will be back for more meals.

The food is amazing!!! And don’t even get me started on their pastries. They’re just made to perfection. The hot apple cider is just what I needed during this terrible cold weather. If I were to rate this place solely on their food it would of received an automatic 5 stars. However, my overall experience made me give this place only 3 stars. I started off by first asking for the fried calamari but they ran out :(Then I asked for their famous cinnamon bun and again they did not have any more, bummer. Finally, I got the tres leches. All this asking made me feel a bit disappointed but I was still able to look past it and move on. What I was not able to let go was when we finally requested our bill. The waiter came over and did the math manually on his phone and then gave us our total amount verbally. WHAT? This has never happened to me. I was so unclear as to what I should make out of it, or what my reaction should be. The receipt is what I use to tip the waiter.(I use the tax to double it and it usually gives me the 15% that you are suppose to tip the waiter). Not sure if I am being overly judgmental about this no receipt thing, but I just thought it was so bizarre. Will continue to come here, mainly for their dessert(may even order pastries to go) but if dining in will def keep in mind their billing method. Also, super tiny place so plan accordingly to that.

Decent food, bad customer service. The best is probably the breakfast food. Chicken in chicken salad is bland. They serve mashed potatoes and salad with most meals — mashed potatoes could use more seasoning. As far as customer service: they don’t have enough people working there. Café is too small and can’t seem to fulfill all customer needs at once: seated service + delivery orders. Delivery person is only available at 1:00pm on weekends. –worst idea ever. Best breakfast food is Challah French Toast BUT be careful because to save money I think they have been serving smaller sizes and the price is still the same so that’s a problem.

Yay! I am very happy that Tanto Dulce has reopened now! I am glad everything worked out, and continues to work out. The neighborhood really needs a homely café like Tanto to exist.

I really wanted to like this place and should I go back I’ll happily update my review BUT it’s hard to give it 5 stars when they botched both orders placed. We were so hungry that we just ate it BUT still pissed that we did not get what we wanted despite clearly stating it twice. The ambience is great… Almost feels tucked away from greater Manhattan. It does not have that pretentious feel that some places have. The staff seemed great but again, it’s hard to overlook a wrong order and then the check was for the wrong amount and had to be corrected, smh.

I’ve recently moved to the area and was looking a good lunch place. I’ve definitely found one. For lunch I had a cappuccino, caprese salad, and homemade tomato focaccia bread. The service was great and very friendly. I will make this one of my go to places. Only negative is the size. There are only a few tables so it can feel like you need to rush to make room.

How many ways can I sing the praises of this place? Adorable place, always friendly staff, fun selection of music, delicious food with filling yet not overwhelming portions, and I love that it’s located in a neighborhood that otherwise isn’t teeming of places that plan out their menu with this much thought. One of those places that I feel happy to know about and recommend.

I have a special place in my heart for Tanto. It is the first place I popped in after I got the keys to my apartment 5 years ago. I ordered a wonderful café latte and yummy chocolate croissant. Since then, I’ve had many meals both there as well as take out. They have saved me more than once with delicious cakes I could buy to take somewhere for a special occassions. Their prices are beyond reasonable, especially for the quality of food. I really wish they would expand and move nearby to a bigger location. There are only four small tables and no bathroom and on the weekends it fills quickly. Despite its lack of space, the atmosphere is charming, welcoming, and cozy. Sometimes, when it’s on the quieter side, it’s a nice place to chat with a friend over tea, or grade some papers. This place has really come through on quality for the past five years and I hope it will continue to do so! Thank you, Tanto Dulce! Best things to try: **tomato focaccia bread **chicken sandwich **coconut flan **red velvet **lemon ginger mint infusion(cold or hot) **soups, all of them! And the list goes on!

This place is gold!!! I am so happy to live a block from it! I want to try all their desserts! Everything always looks good, and so far it has been. The service was great! The guy that was behind the counter and our waiter, I believe he said he was the owner’s son. He seemed pretty passionate about food and cooking and made some great suggestions. Previously, I had been there in the summer I had a small experience where I had a breakfast sandwich and a coffee. It was good, but easy to forget. Ever since I stop by every once in a while to get dessert. Desserts I’ve tried their almond flourless chocolate cake, the tres leches, and recently their delicious fruit tart. A few nights ago I went for dinner, and that’s when I was shocked by how good and fresh everything tasted. I got the chicken paillar with spinach and mashed potato and it was simply delicious! Overall my experience increased greatly and I will going back soon for more!

Tanto Dulce café is a must! Amazing place to go, the food is wonderful. I come all the time for the Grilled Chicken sandwich . You absolutely have to try their pastries and hot chocolate. I never leave Tanto Dulce without my Tiramisu or Crème Brûlée. The place has great music and besides that the environment in Tanto makes you want to stay here and just finish all their pastries. Last but not least, there customer service is excellent. Miguel who is always there is very friendly and he treats everyone wonderfully. I’m definitely coming back! Can’t wait.

A great local place to grab coffee, breakfast or brunch. The coffee and pastries are superb. However the location is small. I wouldn’t suggest dinning in unless you have three people or less.

I’m sad to say the latest visit here was sooooo disappointing. The staff were different from usual but I would expect the quality from kitchen to be the same. The omelette I had was tiny. My friend asked for goat cheese in hers that wasn’t added. Other friend wanted 3 egg scrambled eggs. There were only two eggs in there. Unless as my friend said they were pigeon eggs. The croissant was horrendous! Omg. Normally their pastries are French quality. But this time it was def a South America type of dough and there was freaking sugar on the croissant. Who the heck does that??? Are you mad? So disappointing. Please bring the quality back.

They’ve packed some great food into a pint sized café at tanto dulce. It’s the kind of restaurant that does a lot with what it has… namely no space. Amazingly, I was able to get a table right away for quick brunch with my roommate a few weeks ago – the eggs benedict was delicious and I was a happy camper. It’s not somewhere I’d recommend if you’re attempting to dine with a large group, but Tanto dulce is friendly and cozy and has a strong neighborhood feel. We struck up conversation with some close quartered fellow diners and had a generally pleasant time. The funny thing is, I’m not sure I’d want this place to expand even if it could — it’s miniature size, for me, is part of it’s charm.

Living in the neighborhood, which was deprived of variety, I have to say it was and still is a great café, but I’ve had both good and pretty bad experiences at Tanto! SERVICE: As everyone has mentioned already, «it’s a small space», so don’t assume you’ll be seated immediately. Also, because of its size there is only one server behind the counter so do expect to wait longer than a usual«NYC minute». I’ve sat down for sunday brunch and left over 90mins later(more than once), been given an order with food missing and i’ve even gotten the snappy in-your-face attitude.(reasoning behind 3 *‘s and not 4 or 5 *‘s) FOOD: Their regular coffee is inexpensive(@1.25) and does the job. They take home GOLD with their house Lemon Ginger tea, hot or iced!!! Their Foccaccia is top-notch! Pork chops are succulent! Tortellini with ham is heavy on the creamy sauce but still tasty! French toast with fresh fruit is delicious! And their desserts in the glass encasement to the right are all DELICIOUS!(Including their cheesecakes and napoleons) I’ve tried their muffins and scones and wasn’t impressed(walk up two ave. to cafeone for gourmet muffins) Overall, Tanto Dulce Café is a quaint little café anyone should try at least once.
