Ordered the chilaquiles to go literally because according to the menu they come with eggs. Arrived home and there were no eggs. Called, they said you have to specify you want the money eggs. All the chilaquiles options on their menu says they come with eggs. Go figure. At least the chilaquiles sans eggs were okay, if salty. Regardless, we also got an al pastor burrito. Sure, the Mexican pickings in NYC are slim and comparing with SoCal can be unreasonable, but there *are* good options are there; unfortunately, the burrito was meh. Next!

Went to their tiny(8 seater) hole in the wall restaurant at 438 E 9th St. between 1st and A and was mightily impressed by the cochinillo(suckling pig) taco. The beef taco was good too. Good amount of filling, a good 50% more than the typical hipster place. The home-made corn tortillas were light and flavorful; dare say some of the best I’ve had. I ordered the goat soup, thinking it was $ 3.99 rather than the $ 8.99 I paid. While I might have expected a bit more goat and vegetables at that price, I was glad I tried it: the goat itself was very tender and the red broth had an unusual, slightly sour, flavor that, once past the first few sips, was appetizing. Felt authentic. They offered me some tasty rice and beans too; guess that came with the soup? — — – Ok, I’ve since eaten here another four or so times, and had some dishes more than once, so I thought I’d update my review. The menu’s changed since my first visit: no more goat soup. The cochinillo taco has never been quite as rich as the first time, and sometimes it a bit dry, but the flavor’s always been good. I’ve had the shrimp taco three time, first time mouth watering, other times time plenty good. Last time the beef taco was totally missable. As for the yellow rice and black beans, the rice has ranged from delicious warm and tender to not quite warm and a tad dry; the beans were generally creamy and rich, once a bit less so. The guacamole was very mild, no kick whatsoever. The flavors of the al pastor – pork with pineapple – didn’t quite meld. I’ve tried the chicken with mole poblano: a thigh in lots of rich gravy which had a slightly sour, slightly medicinal, taste, that didn’t appeal to me. The corn tortillas have ranged from fragrant to decent: still worth the extra $ 1 in any case. To summarize, decent option with unpredictable quality control.

Why in heck is there cart food 10 times better then their store? I want to like this so bad but the quality just isn’t the same as their cart on A

It was my first bite of their Chicken enchilada topped with avocado here. I think I would be listing it as for my new discovery of this one as my top list taco destination. I haven’t tasted their other tacos yet, but heard some that it aren’t that good. Well am gonna try it myself the next time I come back here! Customer service wasn’t served at its best. One staff a bit rude when we asked for a sauce because the one in our table’s already empty. She just gave us a face-palm sign(to wait) with a strict face. Then we reminded her again, waited for a longer minutes before she gave us what we wanted. If it wasn’t for the food, may be I wont have anymore the appetite to come again here. Well I give her the benefit of the doubt and presume she might have personal problem, though it isn’t an excuse because personal matter must separate from work ethics.

Quaint, authentic, affordable Mexican restaurant in the heart of the East Village. The ingredients are fresh and the recipes are delicious. If you’re a fan of Mexican food and discount dining, look no further. Tacos Morelos represents the best value for eating out in the area. My personal recommendation is the cochinita pibil(traditional Mexican slow-roasted pork) torta — loaded with black beans, rice, guacamole, onions, jalapenos and oaxaca cheese, there is no better sandwich in New York City for just $ 6.99. Pro tip: wash your torta down with a crisp Mexican Coke. The manager, Daniel, is generous and attentive. Why not five stars? I reserve five-star ratings for truly transcendent dining experiences, but make no mistake, Tacos Morelos is excellent and well worth a try.

I order delivery often, but I’ve never taken the time to write a restaurant review — until now. This was unequivocally the worst food experience I’ve had in the neighborhood. The food took 90 minutes to arrive, and when it did, it was cold, disheveled and unappetizing. Unacceptable by any standards, but especially when you factor in the ridiculous prices. I worked up the courage to eat most of my Mole Poblano, but only because I was incredibly hungry. I was fooled by the great reviews; don’t make the same mistake.

Great food and great prices. Will be returning or ordering takeout. Our server recommended their signature shredded beef and it did not disappoint!

Killer chilaquiles. Very kind, pleasant service. Definitely coming back! Food came out quickly and prices are a great deal, especially for the neighborhood. Small space but cozy, not cramped.

It would have been nice if I actually received my food. I placed an order at 1pm and was given an estimate of 1:50−2pm delivery. I called at 2:10pm because my food still hadn’t arrived and I was told it left a few minutes ago so I should have it soon. I told the woman I spoke to that I need to leave by 2:30pm and she assured me it would arrive by then. It is now 2:30pm(90 min since I ordered) and I have to leave and don’t have my food. Update: I ran into the delivery guy as I was about to leave and get onto the elevator. He handed me my food so I ate very quick. I ordered a steak burrito each for my wife and I. Both barely had any steak, the steak was cut very small, and the steak was very old. They also skimped on the cheese, you could barely tell it was a steak burrito or had any cheese. It was more like a rice and bean burrito. The burritos are huge but again — not good. Update #2: seamless contacted me because I emailed them about having to leave and my food not showing up. It looks like this place is dishonest because when I called at 2:10, the girl at the restaurant told me that my food left already and would arrive soon but told seamless my food left out at 2:19 which was still pretty late since my food was supposed to arrive at 2. The restaurant ended up discounting 1 of the 2 burritos which is cool but between how late the food was and how gross we thought it was, we fed won’t order from here again.

Tiny little hole in the wall place for Mexican food. The food was great, but the service and cleanliness was certainly lacking. We come in first of all, the tiny space is incredibly loud and dirty. There seems to be a layer of oil and dirt over everything. Secondly, apparently the only language anyone knows how to speak is Spanish. The tacos were extremely good. But while we are, a rat came up to our table and started eating the crumbs.

I ordered from here last night and was really excited due to all the rave reviews — too bad the good people of Unilocal let me down. My enchilada showed up 30 mins later(+1 star) with 3 tiny pieces of moldy avocados on top(see pictures attached). How is this ok? I called the restaurant and they brushed me off and told me to call seamless on my own for a refund. Not cool. Sorry but won’t be coming back.

Carne asada here is thin slices of dried out beef jerky. Tastes like crap and makes me so angry at how terrible and poor quality the food is. Don’t waste your money or calories here. Lowest quality food I’ve seen in a while!

It was a hot summer day, so the air conditioner above the door was dripping like crazy. It was unavoidable to enter the restaurant. The air conditioner rain was hot too. Not sure why. I came around 8, 830 on a monday night and there was no one waiting in line and the place was empty. They seem to be more of a seamless operation than a place people actually go to. Steak burrito bowl was a good size. Lots of things inside, but lots more beans than anything else. The flavors were decent but nothing mind blowing. I would prefer one of the fast food concepts over this place.

The food here is excellent — especially the cochinita pibil and the al pastor. My friends also like the chicken enchiladas, although the verde salsa was a little too watery last time. Unfortunately, delivery from here is a real crapshoot. A few times, it took over an hour, and we had to go to the restaurant to see if they even had our order. They were not at all apologetic about this. Also, they don’t seem to read instructions — especially important ones like NOJALAPENOS. I’ve had my mouth set on fire by the chili peppers in the cochinita pibil just a few too many times. Also, their green salsa used to be made with tomatillo, and now it is made with jalapenos and inedibly spicy. Que lastima.

Sure glad I was comp’d $ 5 for my purchase here which was far from worth five plus dollars, and the staff was far from happy to provide food on pickup. Taco [Home Made Tortilla, Fish, Chile De Arbol Sauce] PS aka

My go-to cheap Mex place in the EV. Never ate in restaurant, but takeout has been bliss. The Tacos Morelos food truck/box is still in Alphabet City, but there always seems to be a long line at prime time hours, so this is a welcome relief from the waiting game as you starve for tacos. Service is crazy fast. Prices are really fair. And the food is great. The nachos are insanely good whether it be the Texas(beef); chicken; pork, or shrimp. The best Cemitas since I was in Mexico. The tacos taste fresh because the ingredients are not overly cooked or sauced. They keep the tacos simple. And the burritos are gigantic. The value for great food is incredible. Most other comparable choices in the EV never deliver on the price. It’s a welcome surprise that Tacos Morelos does.
