This is solid truck food. I’ve always loved their food. It’s basic, for sure, but always fresh, affordable and served with a smile.

Pretty awful taco truck. I went here on my lunch break because some co-workers recommended it, but this is just not good. Really nice choice of items on the menu, great portions, and great prices, but the food is bland and not flavorful, which is something you want from this type of food. Not a lot of drink options. And the truck isn’t even there every day, so sometimes you take the walk and it’s not worth it. The food is just kinda soggy and bland overall. Definitely better tacos in the area.

Wish I could figure out how to find this truck when I want it rather than the chance encounter here and there. On the other hand, since their delicious tamales, which are very tender and light on the palate happen to contain lard, perhaps instant gratification is not a good thing. A tamale made without lard is like brioche made with corn oil. Something magical and delicious happens from the addition of porcine fat. The smoldering heat rush you get from chilies simmered in broth, hopefully with a pork shoulder or a couple of chickens. I’m outta here… Off to hunt down the elusive«El Idolo Truck»

I wouldn’t buy any of their tacos again. Dry and bland. Had three tacos — carnitas, chicken, and something else whatever the guy recommended. $ 2.50 each so if you’re just drunk and need late night food to keep everything down, then maybe. But if you want to enjoy a single bite without it being dry as hell, don’t bother.

We’re not in kansas, er california anymore but Tacos El Idolo wasn’t bad. The carnitas was the fattiest pieces of pork i’d ever had. Literally 1⁄3 of it was just chunks of fat with no actual meat attached. The chivo was kinda dry. But at least it was fast and they didn’t have the soggy tortilla affliction so much mexican food on the east coast does.

I was ridiculously drunk when I had some tacos from them so I hesitate to give 4 stars even though my drunk brain thinks they deserve it. I got a couple of carnitas tacos and a couple chorizo tacos. They were both very good, very hot, and packed full or meat and toppings. I wouldn’t hesitate from getting a couple more the next time I’m drunk and in the area.

Went here late friday night. The line wasn’t too bad. The menu had a wide range of delicious items such as cemitas and tortas as well as amazing tacos of course. The spices were just right in the cemita and i wish they served cold beers to go with them. The lady working the truck was very nice and multi tasked quite well. Aside from some rude customers the experience was pretty awesome. Next time I’m around that area ill definately pass by for a cheap eat.

Not sure which Tacos el idolo I went to, it was the one by a subway to the Village(maybe the other.) A carton of somewhat bland horchata is better than no horchata, especially for the price. Tamarindo is terrible and not recommended(too sugary/not nearly tart enough.) In terms of the food, have tried the goat/chivo and the chicken/pollo, goat is much better. Torta is properly crispy and it is nice and spicy with those jalapenos. Guy isn’t super nice but I don’t expect it at a Mexican Taco truck. Order in Spanish for more«love.» 3.5, rounded down, not something to rush to but not bad at all.

Great tacos and Horchata! They give you a lot of food and also the Horchata was no joke. The owner gave me a big jar. It is like a carton’s worth of it. I am hungry for their spicy pork nachos now…

Wanted to like it since it’s a block away from my apt, but meat is tasteless, sauce is not flavorful, horchata is powdery… only redeeming thing on the menu are the chicken tamales!
