Love this place. Since I’ve lived in NYC I’ve gone here for my birthday every year.(7 years!) Service has always been top notch. And the food is amazing. Boris is hands down one of the best people I’ve met in hospitality.

Always had friendly service and legitimate Swiss fare. Nothing wrong with that! Swizz isn’t trying to break boundaries with it’s selection… keeping it fairly classic and, in my opinion, comforting.

Everything they do there is standard and nothing terribly out of the ordinary. I make most of what they serve at home and it is usually just as fresh or just as good. They do make a fantastic grilled cheese never-the-less. The service is not so hot, the meats are not that good and the wine is nothing special. Basically, it is a status quo Swiss joint. I am giving it the 4 stars because I love Rachlette and Fondue and frankly I love the fact that this place is there and it does that well.

My hubby and I made reservations for the restaurant before a 7:30 show. When we arrived the place was empty but that’s not a complaint. The streets were packed with people so it was nice to have a cozy, quite place for dinner. Our server was incredibly nice and kind. We got a bottle of wine and he continued to pour our glasses. For our food we got the large portion of the mussels and they were spot on. Our server gave us plenty of bread to sop up the delicious sauce. For my meal I chose the salmon and hubby chose the Chicken Cordon Bleu. The salmon was perfect. Served with mixed veggies and potatoes that look very similar to hash browns. Hubby ate every last bit of his meal. Unfortunately we didn’t save room for dessert. I picked this restaurant because I thought it was all fondue but we weren’t disappointed in our dishes. It would have been very romantic to get the fondue but the cheese was around $ 35 a person! We were very satisfied with our experience and dishes.

Great date spot! On a date myself, I looked around and noticed quite a few couples and maybe 2 groups of afterwork dining-drinking-dippers. I live such a sheltered life that this was my first fondue experience. Cheese is my favorite food group. I love it and do not discriminate. h My taste buds were thrilled. I have no idea what I had. Standard melted cheese served at my table with bread(carb-fat overload). After some cheese and 2 bottles of wine, I’m pretty sure I thought this place was heaven. The service was nice, the décor was cozy, and not overwhelming. I could see myself back here soon.

There’s nothing much here I can’t do at home. However, the cheese is good. We had raclette and fondue and both were yummy. I have grown up with both items and they have evolved in our family to many sides and spice levels which you wont find here. The service was a bit sketchy but then I was told the manager was not there that day who is known to be very good. The cold cuts were not too good and we wasted(sorry) half the plate. To sum it up. I would try it once at least but I’m not sure I will return since I can do this at home without the big bill!

So let me start by saying that I am 8 months pregnant and I look it. My husband and I were passing by Swizz tonight and I saw a sign that said chocolate fondue. Melted chocolate craving?! Hell yeah bring it on. So we walk in and the plan was for me to use the bathroom while my husband checks out the menu. Mind you the place was pretty empty. I asked the hostess if I could use the bathroom and she said«No, the bathroom is for customers only. Why don’t you buy a drink, then you can use it.» Seriously? Not only wouldn’t she let a pregnant woman use the bathroom but she actually suggested I buy a drink. We were so turned off that we just left. They lost potential business because of their rude hostess. I understand restaurants have bathroom policies, but what kind of person denies a pregnant woman who needs to pee?

Just reviewing the downstairs bar– didn’t have any food. The ambiance of this place was really cute but they couldn’t seem to get their service together. We waited over 20 min for the bartender/waitress(she was doing both jobs at once so I can see why she was slammed… But still) to open 2 bottles of wine for us. Wine was good and copious after that but they need to staff better on a Saturday night.

Swizz is nothing more than a ok fondue place. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. My friends and I go here a lot just because it is close to one of my friends apartments. The assortment of fruit that they pair to the chocolate can sometimes be really weird… I wish they changed it up every once in a while. Their pretty price I think, but I guess its gourmet chocolate so it could be worse… Their wine selection is good. Nothing really that stands out about this place that I feel is worth going to if you have a better place. The hours open are pretty good, sometimes its hard to see foundue places open late.

Swizz was another restaurant I learned about from online searches for romantic spots in NYC. It is located right now the street from where my former girlfriend used to live, but I was happy to hear she had never been there previously. It speaks to the fact that it is rather tucked away and intimate, even if it is in busy Manhattan. I made my reservation from Minnesota, and was contacted by the owner via email to confirm. I found this to be an outstanding gesture, and was not expecting this. The atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect for a romantic dinner(it happened to be Valentine’s Day). The lights are low, and there is lower level dining space which is even more cozy. The quality of the fondue was the best Ive ever experienced, but I would particularly like to point out one of the dessert fondues which was recommended by our server – Toblerone. There are few dessert items Ive ever eaten that come close to it. Definitely, a must-try for all chocolate lovers. Pros: Romantic/intimate atmosphere, high quality fondue, conveniently located Cons: Pricey, small dining space(reservations recommended)

I wanted a fondue restaurant, Unilocaled it, and came here. I had an appetizer portion of the traditional cheese and the chicken cordon blu. It was great. I was hoping the menu would have had more fondue options. I wanted the oil with a bunch of meats and vegetables. The menu had that– but it was $ 3 for any vegetable and the sides were small. Regardless, try the traditional cheese fondu. I’d also recommend the salmon. Next time I come back, I’m definitely curious to check out the wine bar downstairs.

I came here after some salsa lessons around 8:00PM and the place was pretty empty, surprising considering how close it is to touristy times square. Very chill atmosphere, exposed brick walls, a nice wall of wine, and great low lighting. It was very open and cozy at the same time. There couldn’t have been more than 20 – 25 tables in the restaurant. Service was friendly, attentive, and not overly intrusive. All good things in my book. We started off with the raclette appetizer, split the wild boar entrée, and had the jacque torres chocolate fondue. Honestly, I was pretty darn full splitting the entrée and appetizer and the chocolate fondue pushed me way past the edge. I’m so glad I didn’t order an entrée for myself because that«fondue» was DENSE. It felt like I was eating pure evil, utterly delicious, smokey, flavorful evil. It was a good choice we didn’t order the larger portion because that would have been a meal in of itself. The wild boar was a fantastic entrée, huge portion of pork with two sides of beets and what I am assuming is potato dumplings. The pork was wonderfully seasoned, perfectly cooked, and the sweetness of the beets melded well with the mushrooms. The weird(what I’m still assuming is potato dumplings) was like eating packing peanuts, texture was just too weird to be appetizing. Finally the jacque torres chocolate fondue. Wonderful, delicious dark chocolate, melted in a bowl. It was served with a fairly large plate of marshmallows, kiwi, strawberries, cantelope, banana, and pineapple. I didn’t think the kiwi worked well with the dark chocolate at all but everything else was good. Wish it came with more fruit though as we had a large amount of chocolate sitting in the bowl at the end. First time having fondue and it was a good experience, a bit on the pricey side for a night on the town though.

I love this place. Have probably been there 20+ times… The pluses: — Excellent traditional and dessert fondues(which is really the only entrée I ever order) — Warm reception with good service – not pretentious — Usually easy to get a table, either with a reservation or a walk-in — Soups so good that I don’t even ask what the Soup of the Day is anymore – I just order it. — Wine list runs the gamut – even the cheaper wines are good for a casual evening. The minuses: — Plastic chef out front and neon-esque sign — Décor inside is fine, but not chic Overall, this is an excellent place if you want good food in a comfortable environment. It is not, however, a «scene.»

The evening began as any other fondue evening might — with great excitement. I had done my Unilocal research and knew to only get the Greek salad with the traditional fondue. Write that down because our waiter was not particularly helpful, friendly, or willing to make recommendations. We decided to splurge and get wine and potatoes(because surely potatoes dipped in cheese are amazing!). The appetizer salad was big enough for two and quite tasty. You don’t go to fondue places for the salads though. Or the wine… All of a sudden my fondue holder was lit! A giant bowl of cheese appeared! Bread: good. Cheese: good, a bit Gruyère-y in flavor. Potatoes: cut into strangely large chunks, clearly the cheap kind sold at Key Foods, and a bit raw. In conclusion: come here for a pretty good cheese fondue if you have a mighty craving and lucrative job. Don’t come here for an amazing meal with friendly helpful service.

My friend took me here for a dinner. It was a cold night… So we enjoyed their warm & hearty fondue so much. [Selecting Cheese for Fondue] We tried both traditional cheese and Cheddar. –Cheddar is saltier than the Traditional one, goes well with beer. Also, it gives good seasoning to plain items like shrimps, broccoli, potatoes, and mushrooms. –Traditional one is milder, good for salty or well-seasoned items like air-dried beef and spicy Italian sausage. For additional fondue items($ 3 each). I recommend Air-dried Beef(6 slices), Spicy Italian Sausage, and Tiger Shrimps(3 pcs). *Air-dried beef is like a thinly-sliced beef jerky. Our waiter told us that those beef are aged in a room for six months under a controlled temperature. Fondue is fun for a group dinner! I will come back with my friends and co-workers:)

I had held a surprise birthday party here and the staff was more than willing to help make it the most perfect evening as possible. The manager on duty, Ruth was fantastic in assisting with me and«playing along» with my plan to surprise a special someone. They had help me plan everything from the room to even rehearsing my skit. Aside from that, they were excellent hosts accommodating to my every need. The food was fantastic, I highly recommend the Nova Scotia Salmon with rosti potatoes(looks like hash browns!) and the fusilli with rose and garlic sauce. The wine selection is equally impressive as well, and quite reasonable in price. Out of the many appetizers, wine bottles and food we had ordered. The total only came out to $ 300 for over 15 people. I can’t recommend them highly enough for a job well done and a beautiful restaurant with great food.
